  1. Big agree; it'd be much easier for people to just go duel in the numerous places where it's already possible instead of asking for a special exception in PvE. 👍
  2. Hm, looks like a spaghetti. We may actually be looking at one of the new fishing poles, lads. 🤔
  3. I'd like this. The functionality (free application of skin) is already there, it's just limited currently to being a specific skin instead of a charge. Put it on the list with QoL chat window and friend list updates; not dire, but pleasant if they were to be implemented.
  4. It'd be nice to see legendary precursor collections for (and be able to buy/sell) all three generations of legendary weapons. Even the ones currently available to buy are a bit too expensive for me, but I can appreciate that some people might prefer to invest gold over time to get them - doesn't change my legendary journey at all. ArenaNet seems interested in nudging people toward more challenging content, so increasing the availability of legendary stuff by letting people craft and sell it seems like a good step in that direction, seeing as legendary gear lets players toy around with builds and stats more easily. If someone can make gold crafting and flipping legendaries, more power to them.
  5. For the people who'd quit the game over dueling (or open world PVP of any kind), it's more like a restaurant changing their policies to allow smoking indoors. You can choose to sit in the non-smoking section (opt-out), but your experience will still be affected by the fumes generated by those who opt in. If GW2 were a restaurant with three completely separated buildings, one for smoking (PvP), one for not smoking (PvE), and one for either (WvW), you'd have a pretty good analogy for GW2's separated game modes. Same menus at each of these places, but different dining atmospheres. It'd be silly for the patrons of the non-smoking building to demand a smoke-free experience in the smoking building just as it's silly for the smokers ask why they can't light up in the smoke-free building.
  6. Personally, I think it'd be hilarious to be able to use underwater weapons on land (and vice versa). The pitchfork skin we have is totally wasted on trident as currently implemented. Want to shoot Moa with a speargun? Yeet actual spears at bandits? Take a hammer to a shark's face? Imagine. Going back and filling in the missing weapons in countless sets, creating and balancing land/water skills for affected weapons, giving a much-needed tune-up to water combat for various classes and specs? Ahh. Lots of work, but I'd enjoy it.
  7. It turns out the 1x1 duels were the friends conversations we had along the way. GW2 is a game that separates its games modes, and adding the ability to duel anywhere in the open world would be an attempt to mix PvP with PvE. To better put in perspective why this isn't a great idea, consider people asking for the ability to flag themselves for RP in WvW or PvP maps. Not only would the disruption be enormous, but the responses would all be the same: 'There are already places dedicated to that in the game' 'People would use it to troll' 'It would have a negative impact on my chosen gamemode experience' 'RPers are toxic/the worst' 'I go to PvP/WvW to get away from people like that' and so on. The choices therefore seem pretty easy to me: Either play in the PvP areas (or with the open world methods) that are currently available, or seek a game that has successfully mixed game modes to your satisfaction.
  8. I'd be on board with a VA for Zhaitan if its only voice lines were variations on 'AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA' and other noises of anguish and rage. Distorted breathing, weeping, siren wailing, groaning, the whole thing. Do you really think it was capable of speaking through all of those tentacles anyway without it coming out sounding like 'WHAAAARGARBL'?
  9. This is true, but after expending the effort to sculpt a pile of gold coins for a small fraction of the playerbase to lay on, I think a beach rectangle would be pretty easy by comparison for something a large portion of the playerbase could purchase in the shop. I can also think of several pre-existing props for beach-related weapons (coconut bevvies in the LA cave bar, for example - instant focus or warhorn). Tasty icing, good icing, sure. But easy just-add-water icing too.
  10. They've got a GuildChat stream coming up later this week (I think?) regarding skiffs and fishing where they're supposed to show us how those two features will work and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, the poles will no longer behave like rigatoni. ..but if they do, that's embarrassing.
  11. I'm fine with this as long as you get a 5-minute swim speed debuff if you eat BBQ right before jumping into the water for a swim. Fair's fair.
  12. I also couldn't find mention of priests in their culture outside of Bjora Marches, so it's possible they either goofed or that guy yelling 'HEED MY WORDS! WALK IN THE LIGHT OF THE SIX!' in Hoelbrak finally converted everyone.
  13. It's very bold that you'd request an invisible outfit, but I can get on board since we have something very close already in the game. Great to see such enthusiastic support for this long-requested addition to Tyria. Given the fact that the End of Dragons logo is a giant roaring wave, I think that'd be the perfect time to introduce swimwear right alongside the skiffs, fishing poles, and a brand new never-before-seen Beach Towel chair novelty. So what if ArenaNet missed the mark this summer? They've got until next year, at least, to put the finishing touches on their 2022 lakeside release.
  14. I'd say a better solution would be to employ in-game moderating GMs to spend part of their shift visiting popular farming locations (and monitoring under-map behavior) and doing the check in/kick that they're purported to do when observing possible botting and AFK farming. These people aren't difficult to find. Now, I have no idea what kind of resources that would require or how much of this is already being done, but I can see the Not Awesome behavior steadily increasing all over the game. Some seem very happy to die on the hill of 'just don't look at it, it's fine' in threads like these, but I agree that seeing so much of what appears to be automated play is demotivating when you're actively trying to do things in Tyria. I'm told it's even worse in competitive modes, but I'm not really an authority on those.
  15. Aw man, you've just reminded me, I forgot to include Back In My Day...
  16. How very strange! Half the posts have vanished from this thread with no notification as to why. So many good ninth year title alternatives lost, like tears in rain. ☔ I can probably think of a few more though: Stubborn Old As Dirt Tale As Old As Time Long For This World Antique Vintage For Display Only Tenacious (Though maybe this is a good one to save for the 10th!)
  17. Checked out the forge today and it looks just as glowy as I remember, but a few months ago, my Gilded Hollow started looking like this. Not running any add-ons, haven't tweaked any settings, just logged in one day and the whole guild hall looked like the term 'Tarnished Coast' incarnate. If I had to guess, I'd say they're preparing for their new engine, but it's also possible something unrelated has broken lighting in certain areas of the game and they haven't gotten around to fixing it.
  18. The ability to duel is already in the game in ways that can be ignored and currently do not affect those who aren't interested in participating. I think maybe you might be threatened by the idea that you can't force your preferred mode on others, but feel free to enlighten me if you can articulate a practical need for open world dueling that isn't simply the desire to have an audience.
  19. To answer your thread title, GW2 doesn't have open world 1v1 because it separates game modes. You have PvE, PvP/PvE (WvW), and straight PvP, each with their own maps, balance, and systems. These different modes cater to different styles of play, and attempts to mix them haven't ended well. There is no shortage of threads about the pros and cons of mixing modes here on these forums if you are curious as to why. If you merely want 1v1 duels full-stop, there are multiple dedicated areas in the game where you can have them. Want them in the open world? Costume brawls.
  20. No no. No. No way no how, pal. If ArenaNet somehow finds the time to sit down and cram a Charr into clown shoes and a dress, they can find the time to sit down and design some practical basic swimwear for all five of their playable races without cutting corners. Don't give them an easy out on something people want when they've put just as much effort (if not more) into things people don't. Consumers pay reals mcdeals money for cosmetics in this game, so I'm not interested in accepting a halfbutted attempt unless they're interested in being paid half their normal asking price.
  21. I like this much better; the readability is greatly improved. Now they just need to do something about line spacing. Maybe this is just a Firefox thing, but the space between paragraphs in dark mode reads as something like a 3-space void after you post. Will edit with an example. EDIT: Behold, the mighty example.
  22. Just something I've noticed in multiple threads: When you like an idea, you imply that it's something a majority of the playerbase wants, when you dislike an idea, you imply that it's something a minority of the playerbase wants and is therefore not worthy of attention or discussion. When pressed on how you know or when asked what those more desirable features are, you say ArenaNet's metrics are mysterious and unknowable and only the Weh no Su are capable of defining these holy numbers. My suggestion would be to leave those implications aside completely and let your support or dissent of something stand solely on your opinion of the idea rather than a nebulous assumption of an invisible majority/minority. Don't like swimsuits? Don't like fun? Totally fine. 'I don't like it because <reason>' will always be more compelling and honest than 'I'm pretty sure most of us don't like it' with no explanation as to why. For example: I like the idea of swimsuits personally, but I've also seen countless threads, conversations, art pieces, design mock-ups, half-implemented game assets and abundant beach scenery for which swimsuits would fit perfectly and bring joy. I've also seen ArenaNet put out plenty of outfits no one asked for and think it would be sensible for them to release one that actually has been requested.
  23. Multi-person mounts, fishing, and instanced content with scaling difficulty modes seemed to be the big things they were showcasing, but you could argue those are all just things from previous releases (save fishing, though that might also be something from a previous release depending on how it functions). So, going by the 'not seen in GW2 before' standard, there really is no hook yet. It's true that not everything has been revealed, but among the stuff that has been, I'm mostly seeing adjustments on things we already have. For some folks, that's enough and they'll buy EoD and be happy. Others are still waiting for the defining feature you describe.
  24. We'll be here for you after you get to the ending. My recommendation is to withhold your judgment until you do.
  25. Unfortunately, with the tools currently available I think UI size is the only setting that comes close to helping with this, but it sounds like you've already tried that. I find that we have a very basic chat system in GW2 just full-stop. I've been spoiled by other games in the past, so the lack of options here just makes me want an overhaul update. The Wishlist: - Ability to copy text from the chat box and/or save a log of each play session (logs turned off by default, but can be opted into through settings) - Names that are always able to be right-clicked regardless of /say or /emote entry of text - A silent version of emotes that doesn't produce chat spam (possibly with audio removed as well) for when you wanna shrug/laugh/weep but don't want to bother the people nearby - Another look at the range of emotes because maybe I don't need to know that someone is crossing their arms three villages away from where I am - Party chat that remains after you leave (or get ousted from) a party instead of dissolving into the void (same for various channels of text that seem to vanish or reappear as they please) - Color selection for various channels/affiliations (guild, party, squad, etc.) - Font selection - Tiny number counter to inform you when you are running out of characters as you near the limit (with toggle for those who don't care about this)
