Badge of the Willbender possibly bugged

Recommended Posts

From what I can tell, the Badge of the Willbender from the Purifier collection seems to be unobtainable. The achievement says 'Hint: As a guardian, defeat one of the Purist lieutenants in New Kaineng'. There is no Purist lieutenant mob in the game. Me and a bunch of different players have attempted to hunt down all other types of Purist mobs, without finding the badge. Purists in the story, in open world, in events, in strike missions, in the new guild hall, none of them drops the badge. We have even attempted to kill lieutenants of the other factions in the expansion.

I have encountered a lot of players who are stuck on this part of the achievement, and none that have completed it.

I just got the Badge of the WIllbender drop from the Champion Sarin event in New Kaineng City. It was around "Field Notes 3" in Old Kaineng. Time to get your weapon. 🙂

Hi all, I've been talking with the team about this to figure out what's going on and I think I have an answer for you! For these collections, when you defeat the enemy you need to be playing on the relevant profession for that badge (in this case guardian) and have the relevant elite specialization (in this case willbender) unlocked.

If that was the case for you and you still did not get the drop, please submit a bug report in game so we can keep an eye on it.

Rubi we have found the event. you do need to be on a guardian and it will drop the issue is the community is not sure how the event triggers. I lead a squad on the 15th and we waited across several maps in old kaineng where people found the spawns. After 5 hours the event spawned on one of the maps though we have no idea what the trigger for the event was.

As I wrote in another thread, like Chocofox I also commanded several squads in the last few days and the champion spawned twice in collectively ~20 hours and on average 6-8 different IPs at a time. I am almost sure that this is bugged as otherwise it had to have happened more often in this time span.
I also encouraged my squad guards to write bug reports, so there should be a few issued. Thanks for looking into it!

Thanks for clarifying for me--I will see what I can find out about that!

With the very large number of bugs the expansion shipped with, including how many still remain unresolved, I’d personally be hesitant to blame something on player error.

Just because something should work one way does not mean it is actually working that way in game. This is especially true when the hint for one of the items points to an entirely different map.

Of course that’s different from the issue raised in this thread where the event/champion for the Badge of the Willbender item doesn’t ever spawn.

My understanding of the issue is that the event(s) DO spawn, but it doesn't restart properly afterwards, so you need to be on a fresh map to get it. (at least, according to my guildmate who was able to get the badge the other day)

Simple solution: add the Badge of the Willbender drop to Defeat Janin at the end of the detective escort. It makes just as much sense as the other profession badges from quest chains. Those at least happen frequently. And Jade Maw, which is a whole other pile of trouble but is at least on a timetable.

Yes or maybe just kill Any Champ Purist and any other map because they are Purist the same

To be fair there are a lot of clues scattered around readable books, dialogue, and other events throughout New Kaineng City pointing to Purists hiding out in the edges of the old dead sector. Grub Lane is a hotbed of Purist activity and it's right there. It's a perfect spot for the leadership to hide out and a natural progression through the zone.

It's just that, when the player arrives, there's a mass of equally distributed undead, active Jade Brotherhood and Aetherblade camps, and no purists?

Hi all, I have been asking questions about timing, requirements, and enemies on these events as well as looking into any existing bugs.

I don't have solid answers for you yet but wanted to let you know in the meantime that we are looking into it so I can get you those answers!
