Rip Alac Mirage

As title is labeled, the alac staff is officially dead now due to clone duration nerf.  Running it on a golem with 6 pieces of ritualist can no longer keep a 100% uptime.  If forced full ritualist rip all damage.  Calling on arena net to revert this nerf as there is no reason alac had to be killed.  Already was poor without 3 clones out vs a renegade who hits 1 button to pulse it. 1 Second alac with 3 clones out got me wondering if clones are putting out 0 alac...possibly bugged?

Alac is giving 0 boon duration and 0 clone alac right now, think the nerf is just a massive game break right now.  Nothing is giving more than 1 seconds of alac at the moment. And for the record got a geared alac ren, so much easier on the uptime hitting 1 button off cooldown. Thank you very much for making comment.  Went from about 5-6 seconds per staff ambush down to 1 second for reference.

It was a heavy handed nerf without any compensation in the form of a longer player-based alacrity. In reality it could have been solved with having only alacrity from staff ambush and not from the clone ambush. That would solve the reliance on clones for boons meaning you can preboon.

My prob is its not even giving you the 0.5 alac from clones, its just a base 1 second nothing ontop even boon duration is giving zero benefit so its indeed broken now. Miss the old alac before it got switched to clones.   No clones up = no alac before todays update/hard nerf.  For bosses alac was fine but lets say fast kills it was already terrible.  Rather they just change alac from ambush into maybe staff 4 aoe pulse buff, as chaos armor is terrible in pve.

100% ritualist is now 1.5 seconds personal alac with 3 clones at 3/4 rate, even using the enhanced endurance regen food and sigil of energy it's very hard to maintain any uptime now.  Spec is dead no way to salvage this, running over 60% boon duration with ritualist now.

You will basically have to run some more boon duration now. Probably above 50% to be able to get alacrity out. 

This means no more 20k dps and you will be sitting around 10k like most other supports.

The problem with that is no other alacrity providers were nerfed. Mirage outputting alacrity without an alacrity trait was poor design from the start. This is especially true since chronomancer was given an alacrity source beyond one well.

Agreed. I have never liked alac being appended randomly to staff for one spec only. Its a totally unique thing. No other class or spec has this strangeness. Also, inerestingly, it was done in the same string of nerfs/changes to Mirage that relate to wvw/pvp and one dodge because it was done after, scepter was nerfed (lost a clone and damage), after axe nerfs, after staff lost a clone and had its damage nerfed in pvp/wvw. It was IMO done to further nerf staff since it was becoming a popular Mirage option again in pvp/wvw so they did a nerf with a twist. The twist was the nerf was a buff for mindless players in pve to ensure it was a super popular nerf and the actual Mesmer mains would either be sucked into the hype or get drowned out by all the people stoked on getting alac + damage on Mirage....

Those Discord leaks showed the current balance lead hates Mesmer.

Wish they would just remove alacrity and unnerf deception cooldowns, dodge etc. Sod this role nonsense that ruined stuff in the first place - I thought mirage was meant to be a mesmer/thief evasive damage dealer, not a boon support which it got forced into (on one weapon at that) - presumably to make space for making virtuoso another damage spec instead of something else...

I have 60% boon duration and it's not enough to provide Alacrity for any fight with disruptive phases (like most bosses have)

On a 1M health golem, that has no disruptive phase, I was unable to cap Alac at 30s before killing it solo.

Any disruptive phase, that's a hole in Alacrity uptime.

Chronomancer should have a viable Quick/Heal build. Mirage should have a viable Alac/DPS build.

80% boon duration with the mirage/regen boosting concentration, still can barely keep up alac.  It is very much dead and running full ritualist does not work. Arena net has officially killed alac mirage.

1 3/4 sec personal alac with 3/4 second alac per clone at 80% for example of how bad it is.  Compared to alac ren hit 1 button and done.

If they absolutely want to nerf Staxe, they could remove Alacrity from Chaos Vortex, make Mirage Mantle give an extra effect per Ambush skill. With Chaos Vortex being Alacrity. So the choice is Mirrored Axes for DPS or Mirage Mantle + Staff for Alac.

Same here, if a class is being trashed on the fact they "hate mesmer" only and not game play statistics, would ask they get demoted and removed from future class balance as that would be very unprofessional. All trust would be lost instantly.

I immediatly got asked to switch off my alacmirage after the patch, it is totally dead. So this basically forces the alacdps'ers into mechanist or renegade, and  the mirage players switch to virtuoso (which has much higher dps anyway). Totally uneccesary nerf in my opinion
