Preview of the August 17 balance patch!

The combo field change is very big.

It makes a lot of sense to do it this way, because builds that rely on their own combo fields were neutered by overlapping fields from other players. With this change, we will see builds that can now take advantage of their own fields, and not neuter the teamwork orientation of the design, for players that don't use fields but finishers instead. Great change to fields, huge win for lots of builds

About the Scourge changes...well it's another nerf on skills into obscurity.

If you nerf Scourge enough into obscurity, you might as well just delete the spec at that point and just give us a different spec...it's one reason I don't like nerfs at all to any class because it just makes traits less impactful and the traits and skills associated with it to have no value.

Anyway, I think the minion health trait is tied to the condition cleanse those minions do which is why MM's take that trait anyway. We will know how effective the nerf is when players either drop MM Scourge all together, or if they continue to exist because of their Condi Cleanse capability which is arguably more useful than the HP those minions have.

Agree with the fields change, tbh it should have been done a looooong time ago.

Every spec of nec is viable right in pvp thats the only class in this game while other bearly have one. They can stand to lose a build tbh right now anet should focus on classes like war that need lots of care.

The minion health trait was already nerfed from 50% to 25% and it didnt change anything. MM will still be strong and probably even more common since prot holo got some minor nerfs.

Overall this patch is another huge disappointment. Guess we really wont get any meaningful updates until after EoD.

It lowerd the survivability of prot holo and scourge given anets tract record I'd say this is a win for us.

I just hope the new combo fields won't add more particle spam than the current ones do.

It's a shame that Arenanet did nothing worthwhile for warrior again.

If they have no drive to fix Warrior, at least put a flat 20% damage increase on the damaging skills.

buffing stats of a stat-check class doesnt seem like a smart idea to me

One basic QoL improvement that should have been something thought about during the game's launch followed by a bunch of half-hearted or worthless changes that don't really impact the gameplay of GW2 in any way; and before anybody cries about how a Scourge nerf is good (or bad), you have to recognize that adjusting numbers up and down is not going to change how the class actually plays:  you will still be pressing the same buttons to do the same exact thing; the numbers will just be slightly different now.  GW2 is ruled by patch notes rather than player innovation.

It wont change the popularity of necro but it will make it a bit easier to kill atleast. Ill take that over not getting anything at all.

No gameplay will change.  Why is a random sprinkle of impotence any better than literally nothing?  All of your buttons are still doing exactly the same thing as before; just some are doing less numbers.  Nothing is changing.

Scourges are going to be slightly easier to kill, which means they are going to be slightly less oppressive.

This objectively is better than nothing, even if it's not much.
