World linkings 28/12/2018. Are they happening on this date??

I've heard the linking will be put back due to the holiday season. If this is the case how would people feel if it was brought forward instead?

The server I play on has been linked with the same server twice in a row now, the t/chat is toxic with both servers basically hating each other.

last reset of every even month, so yes.and why would it be delayed since it isn't a public holiday?

I think it was a week late last new year. Might be the same this time. Won't be a week early tho, sorry.

Been there, done that. An earlier reset sure would be nice for some I know, but it's happened later the last 2 years, so I don't see that changing this time. Best of luck though but if not, Wintersday starts Tuesday and oddly 3 weeks of the JP really isn't that bad in comparison.

An earlier reset is needed especially in NA. Linkings are stale, bandwagons have fallen apart, and pretty much everyone I've talked to has hated their link. Would be good to push the reset button a week early.

last year they did the relinks before christmas so I'd assume the same again

The analysis required for relinking is certainly done sometime before the links change. At worst, they only double-check the data to make sure nothing happened recently to change the choices (and I'm sure that hardly ever happens). Consequently, there's nothing special about the 28th to rule it out.

I think what's more likely is that a relinking happens and someone forgets to post that change in the forums or reddit.

I would have programmed it after the first time as well as the used analytics ;)

The only manual step is probably posting the links in the forum

If anything it should be a week early. You have at least 1 server in an untenable situation and leaving them in that situation for an extra week is not fair.

If it was automatic they could move it to being done monthly but they still claim they can't due to the workload.

I think last year they were earlier but who knows with Anet.

Pretty sure they've stated that their offices close during the holidays. Incidentally, re-links were on the 22nd last year.

Any server right now is better than what I've got right now I just do not feel like paying gold to lose what little rewards we do get in wvw by transferring. Seems sort of redundant its like working out a payment plan to your employer just to be able to quit working for them.

I believe anet reduce the pop cap. Afterall, we have NSP which is hovering in T3 and T4 as full server.

I wonder why they bother relinking at all. Guilds migrate soon after, so whatever "research" or planning went into deciding the new linkage will end up being inaccurate. I had a chance to run in some open raids with my link server, and I'm gonna miss 'em =/

Except, as noted, the relinkings can happen without them being in the office. The only thing they need to be around for is making the announcement.

I believe they already have server pairings decided, for whenever it is.

So why haven't they ever done server re links on the holidays(unless i'm mistaken)? usually it's before or after.

they should experiment with reducing the time between relinks to maybe 4 or 5weeks. If people continue to bandwagon, then that's more money for Anet, which hopefully goes to working on the alliance system, which will hopefully be implemented some time in the next two years... hopefully.
