  1. Hard to only choose one of those. Some new race choices would be nice for just a little more variety. Certainly some more content variety. I'd like to see more focus on underwater areas. It's a part of the game that's obviously lagging badly in content, skills, ability to travel (how about an underwater mount?), etc. It's a large opportunity to add content without having to really make the map bigger.
  2. I think they took care of a couple major issues and the rest just felt like minor tweaks that honestly won't affect very many players, especially those who don't care about PvP or WvW
  3. I doubt it. They are still working to balance what they already have. They've also only done them for full expansions and I'm not expecting another of those anytime soon.
  4. I like the basic model. It reminds me of Aurene before she ascended. I'm very glad they did a skin set that kept the basic shape and just gave us more patterns and dye channels. Now if they did a tribute to Mothra skin, I'd probably buy it, but that's unlikely.
  5. I have zero interest in playing WoW classic or WoW anything again. Just incredibly tired of the grind. At least when GW2 does expansions and new content, it doesn't totally invalidate the older content, it just adds to it. I wouldn't even play WoW if they went to a free to play model. It just stopped being fun for me.
  6. I would likely not have started playing if it hadn't been for the way they did the mounts. It makes the game much more fun. Sorry for those who had to do it all on foot, but I don't have time for that.
  7. I'll check in and see how close it is to the brandstorm dropping and might stick around if it's getting close, but I have no interest in doing the full meta at this point. At least I actually help seal the weak points. I know for a fact there are those who just get in a couple hits and then go wait for the chests.
  8. It took me two weeks to get the skyscale and some of that time was breaks to farm karma and gold as well as the map currencies. I just bought the food, toys, and eventually a couple extra pungent treats. In the end it was well worth it for me. Being able to hover and touch down precisely where I want to is a major advantage.
  9. Hey, if you get stuck somewhere else and can't figure it out, ask inworld or here. I guarantee there are going to be a few other places along the way that will give you some troube. Also, don't forget to reserve some gold, you'll need at least 36g if you don't end up buying any pungent treats to skip some of Lost Skyscale.
  10. Keep going. It's worth it once you have it and really not too bad if you know about the map currency part early on as most would by this point. total cost in gold was less than the griffon, but not by a huge margin. if you don't craft or even if you do and didn't have a few of the time gated ingredients saved up, it got spendy in parts. I had considered bypassing all of Finding Skyscales, but decided to do as many of the jump puzzles as I could and see where I stood. As it turned out, I only needed to buy two of the pungent treats in addition to the one I was given at the start of that chain. I'll also say that it would have been much more difficult to gain the Skyscale If I hadn't already had the Griffon. Possible, just much harder. I will say the Skyscale is about the limit of what I'd go through to get a mount so I hope if they add new ones in the future they go back to being inline with the story content.
  11. I use both. The skyscale makes getting to a high altitude launch point a LOT easier for if I need to cover a lot of ground fast. The mount that the Skyscale completely orphans is the Springer. I only use that now because it makes me smile to ride a giant rabbit sometimes. No more worrying where ledges are just go up.
  12. I agree with this. If you don't want spoilers from the main story (which is pretty good) this is the way to go. I went full monty and played through PoF before going back to the original story and pretty much treated it as a prequel. That didn't bother me and flat out having the mounts (including the griffon) made it a lot less grindy and more fun for me personally. If you do this, for the love of kitten, choose one of the less complex character classes. A warrior is pretty easy to deal with at any level and they offer some good roles in group stuff once you want to get into that. If you do it with an Elementalist or Mesmer, you'll be tearing hair out trying to figure out the mechanics all at once while dying regularly.
  13. I like my spotted cat skin for the griffon the best with the kitsune jackal second mostly based on the fact I use the griffon so much more. I may pick up the Skyscale pack because I really like the basic shape and have mainly wanted more dye channels which this gives along with some pattern and head shape choices.
  14. I don't buy gems very often. The times I have so far it's been for quality of gaming experience (unbreakable gathering tools with glyphs attached that I wanted). I expect I'll be adding a bank slot and increasing collection sizes at some point. Those things make the game more convenient and enjoyable. I may buy the skyscale skin pack because being able to customize a mount that took that much effort would be worth it. It may be over the course of the year, I'll end up spending about as much as a subscription would cost for another well known MMO, but the difference is it will be for things I choose to buy and see value in. Those might be different than what somebody else would choose to buy. There's even the perfectly good option not to buy gems and play with what you are given or farm enough gold to get the gems that way. A player spending time in the game is worth something all on it's own and Anet knows that. People go where people already are.
  15. This is perfect for me. I really like the basic Skyscale shape, and mainly wanted some more dye channels for it. This set gives me some generally subtle shape variance and a choice of patterns to choose from. I doubt they'd been available singley for less than 800 each. I think the scale textures are a lot better on the ones in this pack as well. I look at the Branded skin as a bonus for buying the pack. I'm sure that's going to make some salty, but what else were they going to do? If they start adding the skyscale skins into the other packs, those who already bought those will complain. Maybe they'll do something like this for the Roller Beetle as well.
  16. I more liked that I had the option to use the treats. In the end I only bypassed three and had fun doing the rest. It was actually more fun doing this series than the ones where it was just "Go to this location, ok, now the next location, etc.
  17. I'm fairly new but my girlfriend had played for a while. I did level boost a character specifically do do Path of Fire content and get the mounts. I really wish the mounts had been added to the basic leveling path instead. I'm still doing the basic story and enjoying it and it doesn't bother me to be playing various parts of the story timeline at the same time. If you think you'd have trouble with this, don't do it. If you do this, I'd seriously suggest doing it with one of the easier to play classes. You aren't going to miss out on many nuances of character play if you level boost a warrior for instance. You still swing weapon until mob dies, you're jsut faster and better at it and there are viable open world builds that don't rely on either of the elite skills (the 5 signet build comes to mind). Try it with an Elementalist and you may have some trouble.
  18. Ele is fun once you get to level 80, get decent gear and a workable build with one of the elite specs. I suggest going for Tempest first if you're already having trouble because even a simple Weaver rotation is longer than I can keep track of. Until that point they are almost too squishy to play in the areas designated for their level. Best suggestion, get a friend to play with you and team level both your characters together. Elementalist supporting a melee fighter works really well.
  19. The single change I'd most like to see is a way to recall minions including while in combat.
  20. I've been playing the various areas concurently actually. I'm still working on the Central Tyria and Heart of Thorns stories and will likely do the Living Worlds 2 and 3 eventually as well. I actually finished PoF first, as I wanted the mounts including the griffon to do the rest of the content with. It doesn't bother me to jump around in the story timeline and I will go off and do the occasional meta or world event as I feel like it. I had completed the LW4 stories though not all on the same character, so I had some of the currency needed but still needed to grind for some with breaks to gain Karma to buy it from the heart vendors. It wasn't all that bad really. The multiple completion lists 21 long were actually more of a grind for me. There was zero game immersion as I was just going down the list on the wiki and checking them off. I don't know anyone who went strictly by ingame clues and information. The Skyscale is well worth the work it took to me though I don't plan to do anything like that again for a while.
  21. My guess is OP doesn't yet have their Skyscale.
  22. I know it looks daunting, You don't have to map complete, you just have to do like the first mission or two on each to gain access or even just tp to friend as long as you own all of LW4. You obviously have to complete the last chapter though. It's a grind, but it's doable. I don't do metas and such and am fairly new to GW2 and it took me about 2 weeks to complete. There were parts that I was very glad when they were done, but I also enjoyed parts of it since I hadn't actually seen some of the arease I had to go to before. In return I got a mount with unique characteristics which is more than I could say for any mount I ever ground for in WoW. Many kittens were uttered while getting it, but once I had it, totally worth it.
  23. Aside from what's been mentioned here, User generated content puts a LOT bigger load on the game at both ends. As it stands now, Anet creates the content, whatever data is needed for that content is pushed to the end-users as patches, and everyone has that data locally with objects and such fast to render because they are always the same. building and land features are always in the same place, etc. If you start allowing user created content, the game has to check on a constant basis if something has changed or been updated in the environment compared to what it thinks is there. I play in Second Life which is mostly user created content and the graphics detail level and FPS is nowhere near as good as here or any other MMORPG. To be fair it's not a game in itself, more an editable environment for social interacting, but it does come at a cost as far as beinng able to render the world as smothly.
  24. This is the results of what happens when you remove roles. I like to do dammage but also beeing quite resilient. This is an extremely unpopular opinion and everyone call me "subpar" and "inneffective" but meh... To be honest though, the other stats are not very effective compared to Power, Precision, Ferocity. Those 3 have too much synergy between each other. Toughness doesn't scale well and having 2k or 3k toughness don't make a lot of difference against mobs (still getting hit for 5k dammage frome some mobs sometimes) Healing Power don't scale well with healing skills (passing from a skill that heals you from 2k to 3,5k with tons of healing power? Why?) Condition Dammage, this needs a total rework. It's really only great against ennemies that have huge health bar. Dammage like this could apply some "instant" dammage when you hit, and not a measly 200 burn dammage per second. Having precision to be useful with condition dammage would be very nice too. Ferocity needs to be greatly buffed but at the cost of having Precision significantly decreased in efficiency. Why? Well, why is it possible to have 100% critical chance? Of course this will be meta! In my opinion, only full Assassin stat with precision runes can someone have at least 80% critical chance (to make fury have some value). I actually have a build for my Elementalist that is pure condition damage and toughness. When using it I have over 20k health. It's not fast, but I can make pretty much anything bleed/burn down well before they manage to kill me. There are builds for all the classes that don't revolve around Power/Precision/Ferocity. I've enjoyed trying some of them out since there's far less pressure to min/max in this game than the others I've played in the past and generally top level epic gear is still fairly inexpensive if you don't really care about it's appearance.
  25. The 250 of each Currency looks a lot more daunting at the start of things than once you actually start doing it. One character grinding each of the heart quests in each of the areas needed could get enough in under 2 weeks. I did it with three characters and ground two per day plus gathering motes and it took me like 4 days, mostly during the growing up process. I also had to take time to gain karma a few times so I could buy the currencies at the vendor. Investing in level 3 karmic retribution in Kourna (though it could have been in any of the areas) made that pretty easy though. I think the collections could have had about half as many in each and still gotten the same storyline across while being far less grindy. As it was, there was no story immersion at all, it was simply going down the list for each collection on the wiki or other guide, and checking them off. The last one (Learning to Fly) was especially pointless. I already knew how to fly the mount. I'd done enough of it in Dragonfall collecting motes and orbs after all. I guess to be fair that was second to the last since the final unlock was getting all the masteries. I'm very glad I didn't use my insights up on the Roller Beetle so all I had to do was grind some experience. That was about a day of playing. So I have the mount and am very glad I have the mount. I don't want to do anything like what it took to get the mount for a good long time though.
