  1. I also run staff tempest at plat rank level. Doesn't make it meta. I've seen warriors(non-BS)/mesmers/other non-meta builds in plat ranks. Doesn't make them meta either. If a support guard is getting farmed, its cause they are a bad support guard.
  2. This entire thread makes very little sense. Tempest isn't meta for starters.
  3. Unless they recently fixed the bug, magnetic aura doesn't block/reflect harbinger attacks.

  5. Other game modes for me. Small scale WvW in particular (10v10 or something).
  6. To clarify, fire is also instant. When cast, in addition to reviving the downed player, it also gives you a 15 second buff that will instantly revive you if you're downed. Note that even if you don't revive anyone, using the glyph in fire attunement will still give you the self-revival buff.

  8. ???? Virtuoso? Really? I think it might just be that Virtuoso just counters w/e your main is. Every 1v1 I've had with a Virtuoso has been laughably easy. They die so quickly.
  9. I'm really just hoping they scrap catalyst entirely at this point, and give us something else (even though I know they won't).
  10. It's impressive how long you managed to pull off a core staff ele, of all things. I played staff support tempest for a pretty long while, but I feel like I've been made obsolete by vindicator. Here's to hoping they finally buff staff.
  11. You're right. Need to start the stomp before invuln. That said, what's weird is that at one point we had the ability to stomp after going into mist form. Then one day we didn't... I don't think there was even any patch notes about it.
  12. My man, as I stated in my above post, vindicators running beserker stats are outhealing me on my support tempest build. I am at plat 1 level. I am 'just dodging' literally constantly when fighting vindicators, because otherwise I will be KO'd in 2-3 hits. Eventually, I run out of my 'just dodge' tools. On top of that, my entire weapon kit is mainly cc. It doesn't help when vindicators constantly teleport to me. Meanwhile, I'm hitting like a wet noodle (~800 per hit on my auto-attacks). The vindicator just face-tanks all my damage, while having better sustain than I do on my support tempest. I would absolutely love if I could hit between 4-10k every few seconds on my support tempest, so vindicators can get a taste of 'just dodging'. 'Lack of introspection'....lol.

  14. Did we really need another overly complex spec after weaver? Balancing orbs, sphere placement, energy, constantly applying auras for the empowerment mechanics, all while having limited sustain and stability? I guess it's possible after a lot of practice in PvE, but it honestly sounds like a headache. In WvW and SPvP, it's impossible. This spec needs some serious simplification. Or at the very least, as far as WvW and SPvP are concerned, it can't be balanced around the assumption that the player is going to be able to maintain all these auras, orbs, and proper sphere placement.
  15. S: Vindicator - as others have stated, dps to sustain output too high. A: Specter, Harbinger - Specter is kinda hard to rate right now, and might be anywhere between B-S tier. The specters I've seen have been all over the place skill-wise. Harbinger has an impressive amount of dps, but at least it has its counters. B: Mechanist - It can sustain well, but I can't see why someone would choose this over holo. It does alright with side-noding and bunkering. D: Catalyst, willbender, virtuoso - Catalyst is on the level on core ele in spvp (terrible). Sphere mechanic just doesn't work in spvp. I haven't played against a willbender or virtuoso that has done well. Virtuoso might be C tier because it can have good damage spikes, but overall it just seems to die too easily. Others - Bladesworn, untamed - No idea.
  16. Just to add a bit to the topic, I play a support tempest build at plat 1 level. Prior to EOD, I'd be doing 50%+ healing during matches, unless there was another support on my team. Now when there's a vindicator on my team, I'm usually only hitting 35%+, on top of the vindicator doing impressive amounts of dps. There have been matches where the vindicator on my team outhealed me, on top of being the highest damage. On top of all that, I'm pretty sure amount healed doesn't take into account barrier, so vindicator sustain output is even more impressive than the numbers suggest. This spec definitely needs tuning.
  17. It would definitely be nice if the energy mechanic could be changed in some way. In spvp, it makes staff completely useless (as usual) since all staff abilities have long cast times and only manage to hit someone maybe 50% of the time.
  18. I think what Shiyo is saying is that while it might be nice to have major changes to hammer (or a different weapon altogether), Anet is not going to make these types of changes. That would require major design work, which Anet is not going to do. Better to make suggestions on how to buff the current hammer/sphere abilities or catalyst traits in general.
  19. Whenever the next balance patch comes up, please don't give the same old 'we think catalyst/virtuoso/willbender are in a good spot. We decided to tweak a few power coefficients on some irrelevant skills for some of the over-performing classes instead!'. Please give the underperforming EOD specs some actual buffs.
