  1. It would be a very sad day if the game only catered for the more hardcore players. Not everyone has an hour or more to play. Not everyone has a level 80 character, not everyone wants to do World completion. Some people just hang out in new player zones just to help people. Some people just do that Role playing stuff (/shrug :) ) I do Fractals with my Guild group. I solo in WvW (yes there are some of us still trying to do it) and I like levelling up characters and gearing them. I love the open world zones. I'm probably a serious casual. Could I do Raids, probably, but that game mode just doesn't appeal. We are all different - we all have different needs in the game and I respect that some players also want challenging content. Raids obviously cater for this. However increasing zone / creature / open world difficulty isn't the way forward. People want to be entertained, they certainly dont want to be frustrated. Many years ago I played the original Everquest. It was 1999 on a dial up modem. They kept raising the level cap and the difficulty of creatures with each expansion. Not just the boss creatures, but the ones that inhabited the zones as well - the 'normal stuff'. I was quite an experienced player with a character of every single class. I was doing quite well. Then they released one expansion called Underfoot. It was an interesting expansion. They ramped the difficulty of creatures up a lot. Stuff was killing you with about 3 hits. So you had to take your time trying to kill them, snaring them, slowing etc. Kills slowed down. Limited play time was spent killing less and less. It wasn't fun at all. At the time the server population was dropping across the board, groups were becoming rarer as people didn't want to play with others who weren't as good as them or slowed them down (sound familiar?). So after 9 years I quit. All games age. All lose population. If the content is too hard or frustrating then players give up, this reduces the population. As content gets old people dont want to do it and the whole thing just becomes a snake eating its own tail.
  2. In reply to Nokomis.5076 - pinging works no packet loss. In reply to Inculpatus cedo.9234 - the link you provided works fine. Tried it again via the webpage - Services - Online manual drop downs, still getting cannot reach this page. I'm using Microsoft Edge, situated in the UK. Browser cache has been cleared still the same problem. Edit - the link Inculpatus cedo.9234 has posted is https://manual.guildwars2.com/en However when I try to find the page via the website the page its trying to load is https://manual.guildwars2.com/en-gb/en-gb
  3. Not sure if this has been raised before but if you go to the Guild Wars 2 Home page at https://www.guildwars2.com Then click on Services at the top of the page and then select Online Manual, it states that the page cannot be reached.
  4. You wont get an answer from them. They've been asked this time and time again.
  5. More visual garbage. I hope there is an option for players to not display it on other players.
  6. Ranger is still good for roaming. But, I did literally ask what their vision with ranger is in wvw in their feedback thread back when they did the wvw balance changes, which was obviously promptly ignored. One random reply I did get was that ranger, mesmer and thief are dueling classes and thus should have less potent "zerg builds". Well, by that logic, ranger duel builds should be as superior to classes with potent zerg builds. They're definetely not at this point. I guess my point is that they're really reluctant with making druid viable as a support spec in competetive modes, while at the same time being so willing to nerf ranger, and specifically soulbeast, as a roaming/duel class. And it's annoying to witness, even if I agree with the changes being done. I must admit I've always thought of Ranger/Mesmer/Thief as the classes that sorts out lone stragglers and makes players think "Ah, if they're good players I'm as good as dead". I suppose if this change has altered our damage output and we're nowhere near the top of the tree the focus will be shifted to nerfing another class. They'll get no sympathy from me. At some point we're all probably going to be as effective as firing a peashooter against a tank.
  7. No they weren't unexpected. The people who cannot counter Ranger have been whining incessantly on the forums for quite some time. I'm waiting for them to continue their cry for nerfs to this class, because you can bet your bottom dollar, that they will continue to do so. The only thing I find amusing, is if anyone dies to Ranger after these and previous nerfs, then it truly is because they are poor players. Rugged growth in wvw was an acknowledge bug and quite rightly sorted out. I'm probably an average player. With the recent changes to all classes I was for once holding my own against some classes that in the past were decimating me. I suspect for me, like a lot of average players, it might be back to square one. I really dont know what these developers intend for this class. We aren't usually wanted in Zerg groups because most other classes do things better. That leaves roaming as the only real alternative. If these changes alter the damage output too much even that might not be viable.

  9. Your combat log should show you which order it was, but both are bringing them out of stealth so likely the Malicious backstab would hit you first, but that's 15k, sadly no combat log for you to show, for an MBS with no malice buildup and no other hits, not even Steal, to make sure you're opened up for everything they want to hit you with. If that thief really did come out of nowhere with no chance to build malice but still tagged you for 15k, again out of nowhere, that would definitely be a problem. Yes sorry no screenshot, not really in the habit of doing that. I couldn't say for certain which was which, but they were both definitely a MBS and a HS. Genuinely didn't see them coming since I'd been through the NW corner capturing supply camp and had then headed to the Sentry near O'Dels and had no sighting of any thief. As I said, not for me to say if this is right or wrong, that's Anet's problem, but it is possible to do. It is for you to say though, you claim they came out of stealth and hit instantly with a 15k MBS with no modifiers or actions leading it like boon steal or anything. Given, I know sometimes so much is hitting me at the same time the combat log doesn't pick up everything. If that actually happened like you say then MBS needs to be dealt with, hopefully normal Backstab doesn't take the heat for it this time around. Not a claim. It happened. I'm sure if a passing Balance Dev wanted to inspect my combat logs for the 10th March they could do and would see what happened. It was out of stealth and it was 15k and 11k. I dont think you understand what I was saying with regard to "not for me to say if this is right or wrong". I really couldn't care less what people are hitting for, that's Anet's problem not mine. I have no control over what they want classes to do. It's a game, I just play it. I dont play the "nerf it/buff it game". My post was purely to illustrate that the OP's 5k is really peanuts compared to what can still happen.

  11. Only 5k you say? Pfft I was in the process of capturing a sentry point near O'Del Academy on DBL yesterday afternoon when I got struck with a15k and a 11K hit out of stealth. With the other 'add on' damage I dropped instantly and died to their F skill. Not 100% sure which way around they were but one was a Heartseeker and one a Malcious Backstab. Absolutely no view of the Thief approaching and bam. This on a SB with full ascended Marauder armour and trinkets. Equipment and runes etc are as per the standard Metabattle 'Sic em' Roamer, so Superior rune of durability. Not particularly bothered tbh, went back to spawn and continued my roaming. Am I complaining? - nope, its down to Anet to decide whether or not this is acceptable or not.
  12. I seem to recall some years ago that I changed the stats on the Necromancer Ascended sword Dark Harvest, to give it berserker stats and it turned into a Zojja's Greatsword. Also some might be interested in this link to Tanetris' guide to acquiring stuff on the Official Wiki. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Tanetris/So_You_Want_To_Gear_a_Character
  13. My money is on that it is in the water to the side of Durios Gulch. Saw a thief repeatedly running into this water a few weeks back and couldn't work out what they were trying to do. They died quite a bit but kept repeatedly going to the same area.
  14. Three of my favourite spots are Cymbel's Rescue in Field of Ruinhttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cymbel%27s_Rescue Secluded Glen also in Field of Ruinhttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Secluded_Glen and lastly Anya Fairmind's strawberry garden at the Town of Nolan, Diessa Plateauhttps://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Town_of_Nolan
  15. Guess you dident read through the thread or you would have seen why they dont restore anymore.Im one of two who got it restored in this thread. I got the exact same reply from GM Fiction.I responded saying that I hope the proposed solution is as easy and cost-free as offered to others that had their weapons replaced by GM Fiction. We will see. I know some folks that got their weapons restored, then promptly sold them, planning on crafting them again with the presumably cheaper incoming method. I guess Anet decided to cut that off. Great no wonder they stoped restoring them, some people just have to ruin it for the rest. ( my weapons are still in the mail waiting for me to do the story and get materials for achiv) EditImo anet should just remove the gold from those people that sold them and let the ones who bought them keep the weapons.Cant be that many that did it so should be easy to track the blt history.Yes you're right I didn't read the final few posts, but despite your pedantry, I still stand with my assertion. Some people, you being one of two documented in this thread (there may be far more that haven't posted), are being treated differently. That is an issue.
  16. I dont know, but I think we should be thankful that the writing isn't yellow :)
  17. I too sent an support ticket to Anet yesterday at 12:03 UK time, asking for the entire set to be restored, since I just salvaged them. They were made purely for the achievement since all of my characters have better gear. I did get a prompt response at 20:28 UK time (not a bad turn around rate) from one of the GM as below. Hello there XXXXXX , I understand you salvaged / vendored the Restored Boreal Weapons. I am sorry about that! We are currently in the process of looking into an alternative method for players to reobtain these weapons. In the meantime, please keep an eye on the forum thread here for updates, as they will likely have updates there before we do here :p https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/96415/illuminated-boreal-weapons-wth-for-real/ We will get back to you as soon as possible about this issue. Thank you so much for your patience with us!(✿◠‿◠) Regards, GM FictionGuild Wars 2 Support Team I'll wait, since its not the end of the world and I'm sure it will be sorted out. However, what is slightly concerning having read through this thread, is the fact that despite all customers being equal, some are being treated differently to others. If some have had all of their weapons restored, then that should apply equally across the board.
  18. Guildmate told me that it had happened to him so I tried. Opened Inventory, Pressed the wallet icon bottom left. Changed the drop down from All currencies to Keys and the client crashed. Thankfully it crashed into the Anet reporting window so I explained what happened and sent it.
  19. Are you able to share the image? On my Windows 10 machine I just get an error page inserted into the library telling me it shut down on the 10th. Now I'm curious what it looked like but have no way to find out. Sure, hopefully this will work https://ibb.co/D15YZf0
  20. Something has been bugging me about this "Pegasus" model and where have I seen one on my computer before, more importantly I was wondering if there was some way that Anet could have found some inspiration when creating their model. This morning I remembered. Windows 10 Machine - Press Start > 3D viewer > Click on the 3D library button and voila, there in all its glory top left is something that is listed as a 'Unicorn'. It is without doubt a billion times better.
  21. One of the other thoughts that went though my mind was, "oh look that's nice, they gave some crayons to one of the Developers children on "Bring your child to work day" and promised that their creation was going to appear in the game before actually seeing the picture they drew" :) I can see that perhaps they're limited to the geometry/movement of the Griffon, but as others have already pointed out, some of the work they have done with other mount types, such as the Hummingbird with the Skimmer model and the Stag with the Jackal model are simply superb.
  22. Well if Dr. Frankenstein had to make a Pegasus from left over parts this is probably the result. Has ANYONE at Anet ever seen the Tristar Pictures Logo?!?! That is a Pegasus. This is very very poor.
  23. Couple of things. Your thread post is confusing. "Soulbeast post balance patch"? We haven't had the big balance patch so how on earth can anyone discuss stuff that needs addressing after it when we dont know what they're going to do? Secondly why create a new thread when in December you posted another thread stating that Rangers were OP and calling for nerfs? https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/94281/soulbeast-is-quite-op-wvw-balance Personally and as you keep saying, this is my opinion..., at this stage of the game I dont think calling for nerfs/buffs to any class is a productive venture. Anet will do what Anet wants to do. After the 'balance' patch lands, then perhaps is the time to discuss what needs to be tinkered with. At the moment it is far too late in the day.
  24. It looks to me like a car crash between Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees hair circa 1980's, Shoulders from one of Elton John's costumes in the 1970s and Snuffleupagus' legs.
  25. You might want to take a look at the patch notes, because this isn't upcoming any more. Late Notes: October 29, 201910/29/2019—October 29 Late NotesProfession SkillsThiefDeadly Ambition: The internal cooldown of this trait has been increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds in PvP only. The stacks of poison have been decreased from 2 stacks to 1 stack in PvP only.
