  1. Oh we totally shouldn't need to. Odds are we don't. But it's not 100% certain, so I'll be holding onto mine as they are made. I won't even equip it just yet. I would love for Anet to outright tell us "you only need to make 6 pieces and get collection credit for the 18 skins, the physical armor can safely be worn or salvaged, and you will not need to make all 18 pieces to make all the legendary armor." Unless they do, though, I am playing it very safe. I will make the heavy pieces first since I want the heavy legendary first, then size up making light and medium based on the information available once I'm at that point.
  2. I did see the skin yesterday, briefly, the person flew off before I could get a good look. I'm closing in on finishing A New Friend (the essences hurt to spend on it when I know I need them for other things that will lead to legendary armor) and then will have to decide if the effort and cost is worth it for the skin. Threads like this help me weigh that decision, though I think I'm tilting towards going for the skin. Mostly I resent using up massive amounts of mats that I will need for other more utility things. I've paused working on Aurene legendaries since there is overlap in mats with the armor, and haven't gotten a legendary starter kit for the same reason (though I suppose pieces of that could be stashed for later use or I could go ahead and get another legendary so I can dual wield something).
  3. They've posted that in an upcoming update (this Tuesday? I don't recall the exact date) they will be adding another option to the daily tab so there will be a bit of choice. It's maybe not as much as players were hoping, but if it also grants AA then they likely don't want to up that spigot too much. For comparison, the weekly tab asks you to do 6 out of 8 options but you can get the extra AA from doing the other two, so it's not capped like in the old system.
  4. It definitely could be better communicated to new players. Once you've been around for a while you learn that "Activity" is a specific content just like "Fractal" or "Dungeon." Usually it's whatever is up for the day with the Activities npc in LA (or in the various vip lounges). During some festivals there are also Activities that count for daily activity, eg Choir in Wintersday, reached via the relevant festival npc. This day it happens to be Crab Toss but it rotates through Keg Brawl, Sanctum Sprint, Southshore Survival, etc.
  5. Same. It made for a fun and relaxing sit down at the edge -- we did get credit for the daily once it was done. So it's not a total loss.
  6. I didn't even realize it was down there. I had to set a hotkey. Which was tricky, it thought I was deploying a skiff, then I realized rift scanning had its own hotkey slot. Once I got that set and made sure there was no overlap with "use mastery skill" it worked, so now I hit E to scan and it works just fine.
  7. That's also one you can get by teleporting to someone or getting mesmer ported, unless they've nerfed that. In the old daily system it was very easy as soon as someone tagged up at the end. To solo it you need the patience and timing Caitmonster suggests, also you can dodge through the red circles (just make sure not to dodge onto the slope for a slide back to the bottom).
  8. I have also seen it frozen like that every time I've gone past that area in the last two days. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon.
  9. I did some work on Skyscale Growing Comforts. Went to LA from Thousand Seas, waypointed to Lornars to buy the blanket, noticed the champ wurm was up, killed it, got the tasty wurm segment.. Went to the heart vendor for the blanket, bought that. During this I twice had the box pop up saying connection lost, but as per usual closing the box let me keep playing (and I have never had a rollback from ignoring the popup before, either I crash out or the game reestablishes connection). Then I was hovering in the air deciding what to do next, got suddenly tossed to the LA loading screen and found myself back in LA without the blanket and with my 3 gold returned. At first I thought my wurm kill had been undone but I do at least still have that piece of the collection showing done.
  10. Did you talk to the musicians? I did that event for the first time last night and had to talk to each one and tell them to follow along. Then play the notes.
  11. It's actually 40 lost AA (and I suppose also 10 AP for those not yet at cap). Over the course of the next 71 days that might just be a minor glitch in buying up all the Wizard Vault items desired, but in the first few days of collecting out of a large batch of items it feels frustrating. We'll see what they say on Monday about this, if anything, as no matter how annoying it is to lose the AA it hasn't broken the game or the economy enough to need emergency weekend action.
  12. When my squad commander finally got us to an unbugged instance, it had been cleared so there were no events to do and thus no credit to gain to open the chests. This is just some missed astral acclaim today.
  13. I'm not so sure they did. I had a guildie exclaim in Discord about wtf was up with three commandos running into a portal. I didn't ask where because I hadn't finished story and exploration and am still trying to discover things for myself. But -- for you lawyers out there -- it was definitely present sense impression, and this guildie isn't prone to making stuff up.
  14. I cannot see my regular achieve tracking when I have a Vault task showing. At first I thought they weren't showing at all but I tested and turning off the Vault tracker let the regular ones pop up.
  15. I can waypoint there (for a relatively high silver cost) but once I want to bring alts there without doing story, how will that work? It's a big map with a lot of nooks and crannies, I haven't spoken to every npc (and haven't finished the whole story yet, so maybe that's a final reward). Just asking if anyone know if there is one and how to get it if so. Thanks!
  16. They got changed into Ancient Coins, you should have an in game mail about it.
  17. I only found the letter, but it likewise did not show as found. The crafting crash is far more serious but I hope this gets patched soon, every mastery point is precious right now 😉
  18. I am also crashing out the moment I open a crafting station or my hero panel crafting tab.
  19. I haven't tested these lately but early on in the chair days there was this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/87leag/you_can_also_use_certain_emotes_while_sitting_in/ Reddit page includes a video and the comments list the emotes that seem to work. So indeed, /readbook would be a nice one to add.
  20. Check all the many threads about relics. Tldr, runes are being reworked to be stat only with the special 6th effect on its own new slot, the relic. People with legendary runes probably have to farm up/grind out the special effects all over again, at least until they can get a legendary relic in a later release. There is a smidge of disgruntlement over this.
  21. I guess they didn't think about other chairs, and the Comfortable Reading Chair includes you perpetually reading a book so emoting it in that chair could be odd. You're right, it absolutely should be possible on every chair. Maybe the animations are baked in when the chairs are made and adding another would require re-making the chair.
  22. For your very first profession (GW2 lingo for class), you probably do *not* want Engineer, Elementalist, or Revenant (unless you know yourself to be very quick at picking up complicated rotations). The first two are the "piano playing" classes with multiple different skills depending on moment-to-moment stances, the third plays differently from all the other professions due to having a locked-in utility bar that you flip between two versions. Elementalist is super squishy for beginners, too. That isn't to say you shouldn't try them. You get 5 slots to start (in the paid version). If you keep one slot empty you can quickly make any profession you like in it and go to the pvp lobby to test its rotations on innocent target golems, at full level 80 everything unlocked, to get a feel for how it handles. You might absolutely adore the risk-reward balance of Elementalist. But whatever profession(s) you start with, general wisdom through the years has been to take your time leveling up in open pve when you start. Explore everything, follow npcs after an event to see if they start a new one, rotate through the weapons your profession can use, get things like dodging and weapon swapping into your muscle memory. Levels 1-80 are an extended tutorial but don't take nearly as long to go through as in WoW. It's ok to outlevel content, you'll be scaled down to the map's level to keep things somewhat relevant (though you'll still be slightly op if you have more skills unlocked due to level than a starter map is set up for). These forums see a lot of complaints from people that boosted or rapid-leveled to 80, don't understand the core mechanisms of the game, and suddenly find themselves in level 80 maps full of aggro. Also, this game is incredibly alt-friendly. Almost nothing of value is soulbound. Achievements are account wide so you can swap to whatever character can best work on them. Leveling is fast, decent gear is cheap, your bank is shared (pro tip: any crafting station has a bank tab in it. You don't have to go find a banker npc to access it. Plus there is a little gear at the top right of your inventory. If you click that all your crafting mats will go to the dedicated crafting storage tab in the bank and you can craft things without hauling them out of the bank. Very handy for clearing your bags as you adventure. Also up there is a "compact bags" feature you can turn off if you don't want everything rearranged with one accidental click). It's very easy to just keep making alts if you can buy the new character slots, and leveling gets faster the more you build up your achievements and collect writs and tomes of xp. You can end up with multiples of every profession if you want, all 80 and well-geared in multiple builds, without breaking much of a sweat. So there's no wrong answer to what to start with. Do what's fun!
  23. New weapons would need new and notably different skills and functions, which is easier to broadly request than to come up with specific ideas. As Sobx notes, skins are the answer. A ton of things you listed would be pistols or rifles, for example. A side problem is that GW2 weapon skins have templates. They may have different little details and energy glows, but there are only a few basic shapes as a rule. For example in greatswords, you have the pointy surfboard, the angle-tipped surfboard, the long triangle, and the thinner straight form. Warhorns are almost universally a comically large curved bell. Occasionally you get something designed outside that box, and it's amazing, but overall you can quickly spot which template was used. If they haven't deviated from those few basic shapes per weapon for a decade, they probably don't want to spend the resources building new ones from scratch.
  24. I got an email on my account email, with the code provided in that email. Check your spam folder for the day you bought it, maybe? As to Leila's point, yes, contact Support again if you can't find the email and the money was charged to your card. But do it *on the same email thread* -- opening a new ticket sets you back to the back of the line, whereas replying to the existing one can boot you up to higher tier Support people. And obviously, stay polite no matter how frantic you are. They like polite customers who understand they have heavy workloads, those Support folk do.
  25. This was the first I'd heard of the new merch, thanks OP, and I luckily (for this purpose) am in the US. But gaming merch isn't always awesome stuff. I googled up reviews, couldn't find anything bashing DPI, so probably their stuff is competently made. Looked at the offerings. I have been wanting a new GW2 shirt, never saw an EoD one (at least not one in black). However, they don't seem to have a sizing chart or dimensions, and the photo of the shirt suggests it's a bit small necked proportionate to its width, ie the "tight neck" style rather than "relaxed fit." I've wasted money on too many tees that turned out to choke me and thus prove unwearable. ANet, you may want to ask DPI to add information on measurements and fit style (this seems to be the only item of apparel on their entire site, at least when clicking their on-site filters, so they may not have a lot of experience in marketing clothing). Doesn't matter where in the world you are, clothes that don't fit aren't worth it even if shipping were free.
