  1. A guildie just had a genius idea for a mail carrier. I know you guys simply aren't making more mail carriers for whatever reason, but picture this: A little swarm of karka jump onto your face and explode.
  2. There are many comments in many threads about not expecting any specific drop in a chest, so no need to repeat them in full here. Also it seems likely you are just tossing off a joke, if you've been trying you know it's not a likely drop, because if it was, it wouldn't be 2K on the TP. I opened at least 50 chests a month for at least 6 years hoping for the hair stylist but never expecting it. Meanwhile I slowly saved up gold (I still spent gold, so accumulating it wasn't fast) until I had about 2K. Every chest I opened had the faint possibility of being the one that would stop me needing to buy, a possibility never realized. Eventually I got my stylist for a bid of around 1700 g and have enjoyed the heck out of it ever since. I might, in all those chests, have gotten one permanent express. I'm no longer sure, but it was a merchant iirc and I sold that because it seemed unnecessary for my uses. Now I would very much like a bank express but my account is not one that gets super rare drops (over a decade of play, I've gotten two or three precursors and all of them low end ones like the disco mace) and I quail at saving up that much gold again. So there's always that whiff of possibility in each chest, and there's never any real hope.
  3. The portal tomes and Spearmarshall's Plea are amazing for getting every alt anywhere fast (not in the core maps, but everywhere else; a guild hall unlocks even more). Their only downside is there are so many of them. Being able to collate a season's portal into one tome is nice but it'd be a huge improvement to be able to get them all into one shared slot. I wouldn't stop buying the shared slots as fast as more are allowed, but I'd have a lot more things I could do with them if I could smush the portals all together. I would buy more lounge passes, too. There are quite a few I simply haven't been willing to find room for, so it's been DR and Amnoon only for a long time, with Thousand Seas added because it's just that good. There are at least four other passes I'd like to have but won't buy unless they won't take up extra slots. OP, there are only a few places your alts have to do story to reach once you've bought the portals. And the only one of those I can think of right now, a poi in Thunderhead Peaks, can also be reached if daily rng allows or if a player is in there and lets you tele to them. I hope all the answers in this thread explaining this have made you happy to discover that your alts can in fact skip the story in order to get to the maps.
  4. At the game's beginning there were a lot more traitlines equippable at once. They reworked it a few times, ending up with the current three trait system. Presumably for balance reasons. Now they are going to be removing some build restrictions (unspecified exactly what that means). That could solve your request, if not in exactly the way you have set it up -- they did say theorycrafters will have a lot to work with.
  5. I'm getting constant popups saying connection is lost. I can just click to close it and I'm fine, but it stops me doing anything else until I precision click the x to close. It hasn't been a big deal while I've been dyeing outfits on alts in Thousand Seas but it could definitely cause issues in combat.
  6. Hmm. Try standing around on your weaver for five minutes or so? Or submit a /bug? Those are the two things I did between it not working and it working. I just logged in to test again after dinner, reset's just happened, and my weaver's hotbar is still behaving.
  7. They just patched this, or at least that is what the newest patch notes suggests. However, when I tested on my Weaver, attuning to a second element makes the 3 skill flip to the weaver blend for half a second, then back to main hand 3. I tested this in Thousand Seas and in Queensdale, and did a /bug in game report on it. EDIT: Ok, so I clicked back into game after posting the above, hadn't moved my Weaver anywhere or logged out, and now it's working. Maybe the /bug got acted on inside a minute?
  8. It is just boggling, if three people want a group with a certain makeup why the heck would they join someone else's LFG rather than make their own? Maybe they are being cheap about getting taxied in ... ?
  9. I'm dyeing the skiff for a number of alts and have noticed that when the new skiff is anchored and I click to my other monitor, while the rest of the game mutes as usual the skiff engine pulse remains audible. Observed in Thousand Seas Pavilion, on female asura berserker and male human daredevil. Tested in Lost Precipice guild hall and in Kessex with the daredevil, the engine pulse continued to sound while I was on my other monitor. All other sounds muted, only that one persisted. It only seems to happen while anchored. It's not too bothersome at the moment, but could be annoying if I needed to answer a phone call or watch a short video.
  10. Oh, I can log in. I just can't submit a ticket once I'm logged in because it asks for the log in all over again even though I've opened my account page.
  11. I am trying to submit a ticket to Support. In both Firefox and Chrome (did not test other browsers), when I click on Submit Ticket it gives me the please sign in page. I click to sign in, put in my info, and am put on my account page. But when I click Support to do the ticket, I am again sent to the please sign in page. I have not submitted a lot of tickets over the years but I'm pretty sure that in the past when it asked for a sign in as part of the process that the Submit Ticket button then worked. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see any place to submit tickets directly from my account page tabs.
  12. It's been years and the Metrica Reality Rift still won't register as complete for me. I'm 3 points away from my 36K chest so I went to check if this achieve has been fixed since it would be quite fast (yes, I can and will get the three AP elsewhere, it's just this reminded me). Completing Tarnished Coast would be 5 points, plus 25 more for it thus completing Ruler of the Skies.
  13. I also would love to have Mechanist bot skins but I think this thread is about Jade Bots and how an SAB skin would work on them. I wouldn't want an SAB one, the sounds would drive me bonkers, and so far the ones released have been way too cutesy to suit any of my alts played enough to warrant the expense, but yes if better Jade Bot skins come out ANet will make (tiny) bank off me.
  14. I think there already are tops that override pants. Mostly in Medium armor. Eg, the raven top forces a skirt on Medium wearers.
  15. As far as I'm concerned, it's Faren until ANet proves otherwise, for reasons elucidated in a number of previous threads by myself and others. Sadly I fear they may not ever bother to let us know. They've tossed bigger plot points to the cutting room floor (Malyck, *kaff kaff*). I'm not even sure the writers that inserted Mr. E into the story are still working at ANet.
  16. I never cared about the leaderboards. I'm not very competitive, and they weren't easy to find. Also I knew that since I barely touch WvW let alone sPvP I was certainly never going to be in the top 100. But I do enjoy doing achievements, and at the game's dawn the Radiant set looked so wonderful to me, especially that backpiece. (Many lovely halo skins have since been introduced so I don't know if I'll even use it once I get it; I currently have all the Radiant and am under 50 AP away from the final Hellfire, other than the backs, and I have exactly one alt decked out in Radiant and have never used a single piece of Hellfire). The ten AP a day gave me a comfy sense of progression towards those skins. I knew about the cap well in advance. I didn't and still don't care about having more AP than other people. I enjoy playing the game for its own sake. Plenty of other skins are out there, and imo they are mostly better than the AP skins. And I still hit a wall for a bit when I reached the daily/monthly cap where I felt very little motivation to log in. I got past that, and the 2 gold did help me do so although it's not enough to make me always do the dailies if they can't be done fast. But I can definitely see how it demotivates players to be capped, and I do like the idea of having the cap occasionally raised if the devs feel that won't counter the reasons they put in the cap in the first place.
  17. I'm surprised there are no threads on it yet (maybe I missed them?). The fashion show is quite fun! I even managed a win on one alt, and got some kind spectator comments on others. The commentary and heckling (from players) is all very kind-hearted. It's a nice way to let players show off their looks. For those not yet in the know, for the next week in LA you can strut your stuff in front of admirers. It's a little rng as to whether you get to compete in any one round, but your turn will come eventually. There's an achieve for competing/spectating ten times (no rewards though). I've seen a lot of creativity already. Thanks, ANet!
  18. After a few years of buying slots whenever they were on sale, I find myself with a lot of blank slots. I currently have 45 slots, 36 of them in use, and one of those is slated for deletion but I'm amused by having the Assyrian style beard that came from a glitch so haven't felt ready to remove him yet. So I have enough slots to cover a full slate of new elites and thus no need to buy more empties just yet. I'm glad for the sale for the sake of those who need more room for alts but won't be spending my gems on slots in this particular sale.
  19. I see the patch says some cosmetic issues were addressed. I still see a toilet lid belt previewing medium Bestial Tides chest on female charr Untamed though.
  20. I also prefer small elegant weapons, so I've found a lot of minimalist ones. A lot of the wands make good scepters, there are some foci that are tiny crystals or wrist wrapping energy (though the Elegant Fan is pretty awesome too), and while stiletto daggers are rare there are a few that don't look like boffer weapons. Combine using those with toggling them off when stowed, and they don't interfere with the look nearly as much.
  21. I appreciate your feelings on this. The main problem -- and it is a problem for *any* skin once released -- is that while some would like it changed, others invested in the skin specifically for how it was at the time. Not everyone wants all the effects piled up. And all the variant skins were available for preview at any bank or crafting station via the Wardrobe tab as soon as they were released, so you could have seen what they would do (Zhaitan and Mord do both have a glow around them in preview, just not the cascading effects below). If ANet changed the skins to match what you want, they'll be changing them for everyone that already made them and *did* want how they are right now. I'm afraid the boat has sailed. They have maybe once or twice changed released skins (I'm looking at you, fiery human cultural that all races could wear for a while before the humans rioted), but it was under extraordinary circumstances.
  22. Heh, I'm seeing so many answers. Every profession has its lovers and loathers. So I'll toss in my own subjective suggestion: Necromancer, with the Reaper Elite specialization, using mostly GS (with staff backup if ranged is absolutely required), with all Shout utilities. Trait choice should include the one that auto-shrouds you if you take a killing blow while you have enough life force built up. You become very tanky. Not the fastest at killing things but pretty much the slowest to die. The GS skills and the shouts synergize very nicely together and can be used at a slow, deliberate pace. Dropping in and out of shroud is a simple F1 press and is a very useful part of the 'rotation.' I have middle aged reflexes, tendonitis, and I mouse-move rather than WASD. The most complex combo key I press in combat is CTRL-T to set a target; otherwise I am almost 100% one button at a time with my left hand (movement controls are on the side of my mouse; I very rarely hit my binding of CTRL-S to swap between snap to target and free placement of aoe). When on Reaper I am so relaxed that I can take time *in combat* to have full conversations with people in Discord even though I am push to talk. Thief requires a lot of movement and can be squishy. Don't even think about Elementalist or Engineer, they take piano playing. Now, my Reaper suggestion does mean waiting to 80 to actually use it, but core Necro is pretty sturdy too. Mesmer can be a bit tedious to level, but the F keys are not that bad because they always do the same thing. There is nuance but you can get away with waiting until you have 3 pink dots showing from generating clones/phantasms with your skills and utilities, then hitting F1 to shatter them for damage, F2 for a daze (I think), and F3 to damage a mob's blue bar. If the mob dies before you shatter them, they break on their own. They are basically fire and forget spells with a insta-cancel with effects when desired. But they are important parts of combat so may not meet your stated criteria. I still recommend necro to most closely match what you asked for.
  23. The one bug I've noticed is on female charr, medium armor, Bestial tattoo. When equipping the Bestial chest piece, the loincloth belt thickens out until it's like she has a toilet seat around her waist. The Fire and Serpent chests look fine. I did not apply it to see if this happened once transmuted. I filed an in-game bug report on it. The bugged piece: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1076539635762737182/1082862665526943804/TattooBestialCharr.JPG And the Flame piece for contrast to see what the belt *should* be doing: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1076539635762737182/1082863360581828698/TattooFireBloomCharr.JPG
  24. It's getting very amusing. Advertising spam from the BLTC. Who'd a thunk Gnashblade would pull a stunt like that?
