  1. A few clicks is not making feel bonded to my skyscale, but I'm glad it does for you. Please do not presume to speak for everyone.
  2. Having slept on the idea of the next part of the collection (which I am not up to yet), I've calmed down a bit and here are some updated thoughts. Probably no one cares but I hope ANet is reading: What has upset me about this long, drawn-out process is that I expected the Skyscale acquisition to be similar in length, cost, and difficulty to that of the Roller Beetle or Warclaw, which in turn I felt was a good adjustment on ANet's part to the lengthy, expensive process for the Griffon. Obviously my assumption was wrong, and that's on me. If the devs had been up front and told us it would take a lot longer, woulda been nice. Saying, "Get your Skyscale TODAY!" implied that you could get it on the day of release of the next episode. I liked the first few scavenger hunts, and enjoy those in general. Going to the same spots three times was overkill though. Requiring a time-gated material with no advance warning was cruel for those of us who just happened to have used up all our charged quartz crystals for other things. At this point I am rushing through everything about the Skyscale as fast as I can -- using guides, getting in a map and out again asap, and so on. We're almost a week in and I literally cannot see the end in sight. I don't feel ANet owes me anything but admit I'm impatient, because I do think I'm going to like the Skyscale if I ever get it; I like the hovering and find it almost calming (yeah, I'm weird).
  3. So, once we finish raising the Skyscale, we have to wait ANOTHER 24 hours to do anything more? Wow, so much fun. And another charged quartz sink coming up. At this point I may just pack it in and forget the Skyscale for now. I'm trying to craft a Legendary and can't be spending gold on this wild goose skyscale chase.
  4. Hooray! And I hope you create a new character and name her/him "Officially Undoomed." Happy gaming!
  5. Having spent time since Tuesday on the whole Skyscale thing, I agree. I like the scavenger hunts (although going to the same places three times was silly) and the collections, but the timegates are a bummer. I rush to make sure I won't miss the reset, then if I'm done early, I can't progress. Of course I can do other things, and that's what I'm doing in-game, but I feel resigned, not happy. Wish we had gotten a Skyscale of our own after the first couple of paths, maybe one that we could only use in Dragonfall but which we could start working on its masteries.
  6. I had this problem on regular maps and posted about it months ago. Was explained to me that it's because people drop in to do an event or a few, and then leave. It's really annoying to get the pop-up constantly.
  7. I'm at the food, treats, and toys stage now, and am finding that the treats drop just fine (so far, at least) from regular animals -- doesn't have to be champions, elite, veteran, etc. My first three treats each dropped from the first corresponding enemy I killed, and one (jacaranda) took about six, but it's still going fast. The timegating for the feeding is what's so boring now, but there are always plenty of other things to do in the game. Time to work on leveling some of my alts, I guess.
  8. That's hilarious, but not really necessary. There are plenty of people to rez at bounties, events and boss fights. When I was a few short after everything else was done, I just went and did the current world boss--did many more rezzes than I needed. (Thanks, Tequatl!) Rezzing NPCs works, too, and there are downed NPCs on just about every map. In the northwest of Brisban Wildlands, there's a whole field of NPCs that need rezzing. Oh, I know it's not necessary, but it sure was funny!
  9. Re: The Skyscale of Life, you get the instructions from the Priestess of Dwayna in Divinity's Reach, and as of last night, what everyone seemed to be doing -- and which I most certainly joined in on because everything else is taking so long -- is throwing themselves off the nearest parapet to their death, where other players below rez them. You can finish the whole Skyscale of Life in a few minutes. It's really funny to hear all the death screams at once. This parapet is literally only a few steps away from the Priestess. Hope that helps some others!
  10. Yes, this is definitely an issue. (For those who haven't gotten to this stage, there's a collection requirement to rez a certain amount of people. Do players take their time, wandering far and wide over various maps, rezzing downed players? No, they do not. They leap en masse over the nearby parapet to their death, where another group below rezzes them, so that the entire requirement is finished in a few minutes. I laughed so hard last night at the continuous stream of death screams, and this -- THIS!!! -- is some of the most fun I've had in the Skyscale quest so far. This is what we're driven to, since other parts of the quest are taking days and days, with no end in sight.)
  11. I think I expected -- I don't claim to speak for everyone or even most players -- the collection to be similar to that of the last PvE mount we could acquire, the Roller Beetle. Now I understand why the team wouldn't tell us about the acquisition requirements of the Skyscale.
  12. Wait 'til you start doing the collections. You get to go through the whole place again... and again... and again...
  13. thatshaman and some others online work from data mining. That's how. At this point with the Skyscale, I'm feeling very discouraged, not inspired.
  14. I love jps, but realize I'm not very good at them (I'm older and sometimes my hands shake). When a collection is locked behind a jp that you can't be ported in, it's really discouraging. I currently can't get an elite specialization weapon because it's locked behind a jp that I just cannot do, and yes, I've tried literally dozens of times. Guess I'm a failure, then. Really a lovely feeling to have in a game.
  15. Well, now I certainly see why ANet refused to tell us how the Skyscale would be acquired when they did the live chat about it!
  16. We want our spirit shards. Who knows if they'll be a requirement for some new thing in the future, maybe by the thousands? I agree that the Skyscale mastery block issue is something that should be fixed. Then you fall under the “Unless the player needs the spirit shards for something” which I had stated. But that's just it -- I don't need them. I would like them to accumulate per usual in case I need them in the future... like right now I wish I had a bunch of charged quartz crystals! :p I don't mean to nitpick, honest. Was obviously a bug that has now been patched. Thank goodness!
  17. So, ways to get around in the Brandstorm without getting killed that worked before -- griffon or skimmer -- don't work in Dragonfall? Borrowed Skyscale doesn't work either. Is the Brandstorm "off" at certain times? I'm trying to reach a mastery point and no matter what direction I approach it from, I die in a few seconds in the storm. Thank you very much in advance.
  18. We want our spirit shards. Who knows if they'll be a requirement for some new thing in the future, maybe by the thousands? I agree that the Skyscale mastery block issue is something that should be fixed.
  19. Yesterday I voted no. Today I would vote a non-existent option -- some timegating is fine but weeks of it are not fun. No, I do not want nor expect everything immediately and I enjoy scavenger hunts. But to have timegates inside of timegates is just frustrating and I don't think ANet expected this much backlash.
  20. Do we have any reason to think it WON'T cost 250g? The Griffon had collections, too... Yes, that would be an added insult. Actually, I'm OK with the time gate for the Skyscale although not crazy about it. BUT, if at the end of however many days it takes, we're hit with a requirement that costs 100s of gold, I will be miffed. To put it mildly. I heard we're not out of the woods yet.. and there is gonna be a feeding part that some one said will require grow lamps or something that's time gated. I can't wait to find out what it is..Yes, I was OK with the first few collections/scavenger hunts, now I read there are timegates within timegates and I'm not happy.
  21. Yesterday I was in the "I'm OK with the timegate" camp. Today I read there are timegates within timegates and my opinion is shifting, because now I wonder how far away the Skyscale acquisition really is. Even more timegates? Is it going to cost a lot of gold too? Discouraged, but will soldier on (note that this is probably not a good reaction to playing a game that's supposed to be fun).
  22. Only a guess, but I'd venture that the negative feedback from the Skyscale acquisition is far greater than they anticipated. I'm OK with some timegating and collections, but today I'm reading there are timegates within timegates. :s
