  1. Just not a proper home instance without an army of seven different upgraded types of grandmas baking cookies.
  2. I agree with a lot of this aesthetic thought about the city. The story of characters stuck between warring factions and powerful organizations is essentially cyberpunk, and that's on target for NKC. But even Mori Village in Echovald, with its ramshackle organic construction, feels more -punk than Cobble Ward. It's the perfect biopunk of Paolo Bacigalupi's "The Windup Girl", grown to fit by a population under siege. Speaking of which, I expected more visible Risen attacks on the poor districts trapped between development and the vastness of Old Kaineng. And more authentic gang activity, as someone said above. Actual street level dudes must be furious about invasive paramilitary wearing their colors. Lore (and map) does make it clear that NKC is a thin gloss on sinking ruins, a Potemkin village fueled by glowing canisters of dragon ooze. The technology isn't inherently harmful. But imagine those elegant self-powered prosthetics creating a dependent population of veterans. Or driving an addiction to replace, enable, and improve, to become more powerful in a city that has everyone under its thumb. Classic cyberpsychosis.
  3. You could make new friends and group with them. A big enough group of friends could move in together into a some kind of hall. One day you might even make a friend who doesn't know how to do something. That could be a little shocking, but you could teach them how to do that thing. Then you could play together.
  4. I wouldn't spend anything on a second account. If this is how things happened, and support can't restore your account, the game doesn't deserve your time or money. Find other ways to spend quality time with your loved ones. I mean, do that anyway, they're important.
  5. I'm just another player, but: Guild Wars 2 falls under the NCSoft terms and conditions. Generally speaking, every art asset in game is company intellectual property, including avatar models and textures. Gaile Gray responded to a similar question in 2018, but the T&Cs have changed since then, and commissioned fan art is always a gray area.
  6. This, all of this. From the moment we crash landed in Cantha, Asura must have been pulling all nighters to catch up with the new status quo. Retrofit some D-series and 7-series style bodies. They fit so much better in core Tyria. Get fancy with a MOX style skin. Anything to relieve the flood of jade. E: meant to reply to Ashantara
  7. Kind of a weird call out considering how much old content has been updated.
  8. Maybe their chosen form of competition is wagging their bank sizes at each other? Then GW2 really is P2W.
  9. Let's discuss "pay to win". There are games that are legitimately unfair and give people willing to spend the cash a competitive advantage. GW2 is good about equity in competition, from leveling out sPVP to making all gear stats accessible in game for in game currency. No matter how much real money someone pours into gems, they can't do better, just look shinier. Bank slots and other conveniences are not a competitive advantage. There's no messaging failure, anyone calling GW2 pay to win just really doesn't understand what pay to win means. Or they could be trolling. But that's not my call. EDIT: I figure people can call me out about "equity in competition" because of profession balance, sure there's fixes to be made, but let's just say, uh, two Mechanists, each alike in dignity.
  10. In my neck of the woods we call this here a disingenuous argument.
  11. Wait, I got it! How to keep it unique, fresh, and save on modeling? Easy. Backward.
  12. A few notes about weapon and armor skins, because making characters look good is the real endgame: If you spend a charge to apply a skin, you are applying it to that particular item. Save transmutation charges for items you're going to use a while, usually Exotic and up. Armor skins can be dyed, weapons cannot. Matching armor colors to a particular weapon set is an easy way to come up with a color scheme! Some back item skins can be dyed. You can preview most skins in-game in the Account Vault (bank). The wiki can tell you where to get each item ("How do I get Runic Slayer armor?"). If you're starting a serious collection, that's one way to set in-game goals. Be careful applying cultural armor skins to account bound armor you might want to pass between characters (for example, Ascended quality). You will not be able to wear the transmuted item on a character from a different race until you spend another transmutation charge.. EDIT: I almost forgot to mention, lots of weapon skins have unique sounds or visual effects. For example, the awesome microphone RavensSorrow mentioned, Voice of Metal! If you apply a skin to a weapon, those effects will be applied or replaced.
  13. I was helping a random new player in Queensdale yesterday, running from heart to heart, answering questions about the interface and stuff. I /playdead and they scoot over, stand there a few seconds, then ask how to loot my body. So when Steam launches I expect more of that sort of thing!
  14. I can also confirm this, laid out the hard earned gems for a bank tab expansion without checking. Oops! Ticketed, responded and refunded same day.
  15. HoT: All those airships we sent, they are wrecked. PoF: I arrive by airship, your town is wrecked entirely by coincidence. EoD: My dragon child found an entire fleet of interdimensional airships and you won't believe what happened next.
  16. I noticed this as well, also in Lost Precipice. No idea if it's intended behavior, but it is annoying. We put a lot of work into those guild halls, and it's a pleasure to fish without enemies attacking the skiff.
  17. It's sweet to not want to drag down the squad, but seriously don't worry about it. There's always a range and everyone did a strike for the first time once. KP is BS. If you earnestly want to help and not just tryhard, watch a video, read about the fight and what to look for. Strikes are fun but it's honestly helpful to have a semi-regular group or to join a guild that runs them daily with open invites.
  18. You don't actually have to tell a squad you're new. Watch a couple of videos about the fight, join as dps or whatever you're good at, get turtle.
  19. True, the event is "Escape the exploding facility" and not "Escape the exploding facility with Rox and Braham and all of those prisoners I rescued". So it should be considered a bug I guess?
