  1. No kidding. I bought gems with real money to get 50 keys. I was hoping for the new Starborn Outfit but didn't get it. Out of 50 chests I got: the Dragon Fireworks glider/backpack combo, 3 soaring weapon skins, and a black lion claim ticket. Not a single rare item. But to be honest, I'm surprised I even got that many uncommons out of 50 chests. I'm usually lucky to get 1 uncommon or better out of 50 chests. Hell, I didn't even want the Dragon Fireworks backpack/glider. All I wanted was the outfit. This is pretty ridiculous though. If the Starborn outfit was sold directly in the gem shop, it would have cost around 700 gems. But here I spent 4,200 gems I payed real money for (over $50.00) and didn't get it. If the outfit could be traded I could understand it being RNG only. What they could do with cosmetic items that can't be traded is also make them available for black lion statuettes at the same time they are random drops from the chests. I'm sure the outfit will eventually be available for black lion statuettes, but that usually takes several months to happen.
  2. That's a problem. Which dungeon track is available rotates. So if you want to work on a particular track you have to wait until it rotates in. In order to unlock a dungeon track permanently (which will let you do the track whenever you want), you need to complete story mode for a dungeon you want the reward track for. Edit: The dungeon reward tracks are unlocked permanently for your account once you complete story mode on any character for a particular dungeon. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track#Dungeon_tracks
  3. Sounds like the OP is a thief that's tired of being spotted/marked by sentries and objectives with the watchtower guild upgrade, and wants a visual representation of the radius making it easier to avoid so he can get around and gank people without being noticed. That would defeat the purpose of sentries and the watchtower upgrade, wouldn't it? Essentially it would be an advantage having a visual representation of the radius around sentries and objectives because it would make it easier to avoid getting marked by accidentally getting too close. Besides, it's not hard to figure out on your own how close you can get before being marked if you play WvW enough.
  4. I had the same issue with the Bloodstone-charged lava wurm yesterday in Draconis Mons. Couldn't use ground targeting skills on it. It just kept pushing the skill away, even when standing on the platform in the lava right in front of the wurm. I even had a lot of troubling placing it on the platform in front of the wurm to use against the bloodstone elemental that spawns every so often. Often times, while in front of the boss and having the camera face the boss, my ground targeted skill wound up being placed and used behind the camera past the platform not even hitting the bloodstone elemental. So it seems this issue isn't just related to world bosses. It seems more related to large creatures that are stationary.
  5. There is a daily limit to get rare unidentified gear from the chests. As stated by a dev on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/buqi7y/mistborn_coffers_limitation_in_getting_piece_of/epjaqds/?context=1000 Still a great way to get them since you're guaranteed to get a certain amount each day.
  6. ArenaNet is working on build templates.https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/72842/what-s-next-for-guild-wars-2/p1
  7. You're absolutely right. I just checked in game. Neither of them have a vendor value anymore. In fact: The bottom of the wiki page for kralkatie ore was last updated May 21, 2019. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kralkatite_Ore It no longer shows a vendor value on the page for this item. However, the wiki page for diflourite crystals still shows a vendor value of 1 silver 28 copper. The page was last updated on May 15, 2019. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Difluorite_Crystal But in game it doesn't have a vendor value anymore. Probably because the Skyscale collection requires 250 of each LW4 currency, and they didn't want people over farming them to sell to vendors for extra gold.
  8. Guild chat a couple months ago. They mentioned they were discussing a mount rental system for WvW for players who don't have it unlocked. Skip to 29:46 in the video.
  9. I can still use my Exalted Portal Stone to go to an instance and play fetch with baby Aurene, even though she's all grown up and now an elder dragon. So your point is moot.
  10. What do I think will happen? Absolutely nothing. From the article you linked: Lobbyists own Washington. What they want, they get. The bill is already dead in the water and won't go anywhere. Besides, Hawaii already tried this last year, introducing legislation to regulate loot boxes in video games. It wound up going nowhere. https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2018/03/24/hawaii-news/loot-box-bills-fail-to-advance/ Basically, the whole thing was amended to something that had nothing at all to do with regulating loot boxes in video games.
  11. Battle Maul nerfed: well, by yourself it didn't seem to do much. But I'm guessing a few players were able to down and defeat a single player just with battle maul alone. If that's the reason it was nerfed it's understandable. Also, if I remember right, battle maul caused bleeding originally but was removed. Bleeding was kinda pointless and didn't do much, unless you get hit with the maul by multiple players. Jump distance reduced/jumping at dismount removed: both done for the same reason. They were being used to exploit the game. There must have been at least a dozen threads on Reddit complaining about players using these to get inside and capture towers/keeps/castles without ever breaking through a gate or wall. And I've seen video of someone showing themselves on the top of the outer wall of a garrison, being able to lunge to the top of the inner wall. All they had to do was drop down into the lord's room. Groups of players were using these exploits to get inside and capture things. By the time you got enough players to defend the objective, it was too late. They were already on the lord without a single wall or gate broken through first. Remount speed reduced: they told us ahead of time they'd be adding a 5 second cooldown to remount. The reason is because battle maul doesn't put you into combat. So what you could do (and I've done it myself several times) is pounce on a downed player to finish them off, then immediately remount, run over and pounce more downed players. It also allowed you to run up and pounced a downed player, then remount and get away before other players were able to attack to put you into combat mode. Mounts no longer allow the capture or contesting of objectives: because players would show up on a mount and run around inside the circle, going behind buildings/objects to avoid being attacked. And they'd do this until a few of their friends showed up, killed you, and in some cases take the objective for themselves. And if you're capturing an objective it was the same thing. Run around avoid attacks while you were capping on your mount. It forces players to have to fight to cap/defend objectives. Edit: Thinking about it, I have to agree about the damage nerf to battle maul. In my experience, it doesn't matter if I'm mauled to death by multiple players, or they all dismount and attack me. Either way I'd be waypointing. So the damage nerf seemed kinda pointless, but as I said, understandable. Besides, it's not like a bunch of players could battle maul a weaver to death. Seriously, I see it on an almost daily basis. 5 or more players from my server trying like hell to defeat a single weaver for several minutes, until the weaver eventually runs out of juice and is defeated.
  12. I tried it by a tower wall and it didn't show me the people I knew to be inside it. I've never had an issue with it. I use it near towers often and can see red dots inside on the opposite end of the tower from where I'm at. Usually I'll go right up to the wall on the outside of the tower before using it. Possibilities: you weren't close enough to the tower and/or the player was just outside the range of Sniff, or the player had just left the tower right before you used it. Or perhaps something in your graphics settings is turned down and is preventing you from seeing the dots. I was right humped against the wall and had the map zoomed all the way in. The people hadn't left as I could actually see them over the wall. However since this incident it's been working so it was more than likely an odd occurrence due to lag or something :)Uhhh.......another possibility: something not working the way it's suppose to. :p And I just remembered that I've seen players in WvW say that Sniff doesn't seem to work right sometimes. So, that is most likely what happened to you. Hell, I was at Bay keep on the west side of Alpine Borderlands a while back. My team was working on the outer gate. I was on my warclaw using chain pull on it. A player on the other side of the gate launched a catapult at the gate, hitting me a few times until I was dismounted. What happened? I was sitting on the ground as if I was still mounted, but with my weapon and other skills useable. We broke through the gate and I entered the water to swim to the other side. My character was still stuck as if she was mounted and stayed that way. After capturing the keep I went to the character select screen then logged back in and that fixed my toon.
  13. Sniff could use improvements though. How I've seen it work is red dots show up on the mini map for about a second or 2, then fade out. Then a few seconds later it will show the red dots a second time for a second or 2. And of course, not being able to see stealthed players. Sniff just doesn't last long enough to give you a good idea of what's going on. Good example: not too long ago I was with a group of players that captured a tower. I hopped on my mount and used sniff but didnt' see anything. Then someone noticed a daredevil come out of stealth. We ran all over the tower trying to find him. I used Sniff again when it was off cooldown and still didn't see the stealthed player get pinged. It took about 10 of us several minutes searching for that player, due to him being in stealth for a good 60+ seconds at a time. It wasn't until 1 of our players used a skill their profession had to reveal the daredevil and we defeated him. If we weren't determined to get him, he would have stayed hidden inside the tower until we left, then capped the tower himself without having to break through the gate or wall first. What they could do is make it so stealthed players within rang of Sniff end up being revealed/marked and unable to stealth for about 3 seconds. And for the mini map it could show the dots for a few seconds.
  14. I tried it by a tower wall and it didn't show me the people I knew to be inside it. I've never had an issue with it. 15. I'm not seeing anything in game about trading in Tomes of Mentorship to the mystic forge attendant. I just checked. I do have a few Tomes of Mentorship in my bank. You can only trade in Tomes of Knowledge to the mystic forge attendant for spirit shards. You can also use Tomes of Knowledge on level 80 characters to gain 1 spirit shard each. Trading them in to the mystic forge attendant makes it much easier than double clicking them, because you can trade in how ever many you want at once. Tomes of Mentorship can't be used at all by level 80 characters. You mainly get them from the personal story step Victory or Death. Their intended purpose is only to give a head start to characters under level 80. There isn't any way to trade them in for anything or anything else you can do with them. If you don't need them, either save them in your bank in case you want to create a new character later on, or just discard them.
  16. I was excited too. I prefer to run around with my power scourge. But after getting killed multiple times by a ranger's Rapid Fire, I switched to my own soulbeast. With no downed state, fights seem to be kinda one sided and are over rather quickly, whether you're solo roaming or in a large scale zerg vs. zerg battle. We went from a wide variety of builds, to quite a lot of players going with high damage burst builds. It comes down to who can kill the quickest. Heck, I got in a fight last night with another soulbeast while roaming by myself. After killing him 2 or 3 times he came back once more but was too afraid to get close to me. He took off and left me alone. With being able to rally off of defeated players and NPCs, fights can end up taking forever. So the idea of a no rally event seems like it could bring a bit of balance so fights aren't over too soon or take to long. The OP's suggestion seems to be something the devs haven't tried be for, and is worth a chance to see if it could improve WvW at least a little.
  17. I must have misunderstood the OP's suggestion. He/she simply said "no rally week" but didn't offer specific details as to how it would work. So I assumed he/she meant not being able to even used downed skills (like skill #4) or be picked up by team mates and all we could do once downed is lay there waiting to die. If the OP is suggesting only that we can't rally off of defeated players or NPCs, but still be able to used downed skills and have team mates help us up, then that would be an interesting experiment and I'm open to the idea. I admit, there have been times in zerg v. zerg fights where I was downed and rallied off a defeated player so fast that my character doesn't even hit the ground. I just hear "ding" and my skill bar flashes for a split second. I'm one of those that doesn't like the no downed state event. It takes away an advertised feature from the warclaw (pouncing to finish off downed players). Not being able to rally off of defeated players and NPCs sounds like a middle ground that would still lets us pounce with our warclaw, but also balance fights out a bit. It's worth a try at least.
  18. If we can't rally then what's the point of even having a downed state? It would just make it easier to get pounced by warclaws because we won't have a chance to get up in 2 seconds after being downed and will just be sitting ducks. When you have too much AOE and whatnot going on around your bum laying on the ground, chances are pretty slim that your server mates will be able to pick you up without getting downed/defeated themselves. You'd just be laying there waiting to die. If we can't rally off enemies in the downed state, then we might as well not have a downed state at all. Like the current no downed state weeklong event going on right now.
  19. Mad Realm Warclaw and Rollerbeetle mount skins please. Available as separate purchases would be fine.
  20. The problem I had with focus 4 before the update was being able to actually hit stuff with it. Using it on players and NPCs in WvW I would regularly get hit with "Obstructed" on level terrain, such as at camps.
  21. You should get at least some credit for it. There have been plenty of times where I tried to take a camp killing all/most of the NPC's, got killed by 1 or more enemy players, then my server mates took them out and finished capping the camp before I could get back there after waypointing to revive myself, and still got gold event rewards along with WXP for it. As far as contesting goes while mounted: based on my experience there are some real kitten cowards in WvW. I've had plenty of times where I go to cap a camp by myself and almost have it complete when an enemy player on a mount shows up. The players will just sit there keeping the camp contested so I can't cap it. If I try to attack them, they will run around buildings/structures to prevent line-of-sight so I can't hit them (I play as scourge with Axe/Focus and staff, but it prevents anything like leaps, teleports, or any other gap closers from working on other professions that requires line-of-sight). Even if I hop on my mount to catch up and pounce them so I can get close enough to attack, they'll just keep going in circles and all I keep seeing is "no line-of-sight" or "obstructed" when trying to hit them. Eventually a few of their friends will show up, kill me, then claim the camp for themselves, and I have to wait 5 minutes before I can attempt to claim it. I admit when I first saw it suggested on the forums to make it so you can't cap or contest an objective while mounted, I thought it was just players whining who hated the mount. But based on experience, I think it was a good change. It isn't fair that after you do the work to cap something a player can show up and hold it until his buddies come to come stomp you and take the objective for themselves, without actually beating you in a fair fight and earning the right to cap it. And if your server owns the objective, it's a lazy way to "defend" it when you just run around in circles to keep it from being taken from you until your buddies show up to take out the 1 player you're too afraid to fight. In other words: the only players complaining about the change are those too afraid to fight players without having at least 1 other buddy with them.
  22. The confirmation email is generally not sent to users who are already subscribed to one of the other newsletters. But if you want to verify that you're fully subscribed, go back to https://account.arena.net/settings at the end and make sure all of the newsletter subscription switches are green/on (reload the page to make sure). The workaround using the general newsletter sign-up is only needed for users who are having trouble getting the account settings page to work. Hey, i was not subscribed to any newsletter, but didn't receive the email confirmation. Anyway, i reload many times the page and all bottom stay green. So am i sure that i will receive the item? or email confirmation is necessary? thanksDev post on page 2 in this thread: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/876448/#Comment_876448 They're no longer sending confirmation emails when subscribing to the newsletters. .................. I finally got a newsletter email. "Super Adventure Festival is back. Log in and jump around.". Kinda late, but it seems I'm subbed properly. :)
  23. It says to allow up to 8 weeks from April 29 to get the item. Yes. All 3 to the right and green. (ArenanNet employee said in this thread you do need to be subscribed to all newsletters to get the purple mask skin.)
  24. A couple days ago I got an email about the purple mask promotion, telling me to check my newsletter subscription settings. They all still show as green, so I think I'm good to go. :)
