  1. Making them salvageable was one of the reasons they were added to the game in the first place...
  2. I think you need some more sleep . . . . . . . . .jk Seriously though, I hope by better 'quality' players you really mean people who spend more money on the gem store to make up for the 'quantity' of players who no longer play or in the case of any potential future expansions, buying multiple copies. Because at the end of the day, $ is what matters, and I certainly am not going to be spending any. Yes $$ is what keeps the lights on. It will be interesting to see if any more expansions get put together, or if LW is the way to go again like they tried after retail release. I'd love another expansion but it may not be financially feasible.
  3. It's not the quantity of the people around you though mate, is it? It's the quality.
  4. Hi ladies and gents at Arena Net. As a long time player of GW2 and a fan of your work (especially zone/level design) I just wanted to say cheers, your game is quite good and now that you are giving HoT away perhaps I can convince some IRL friends to give it a go. Here's to 7 (I think?) more years of a good game.
  5. Toxic toxicity is toxically toxic. Toxic toxicington, toxicity and toxicality. Toxic. That word OP, I don't think you and many others think it means what it really means.
  6. what "role" is Dwarf? defense How so? explain Gw2 has a very handy wiki to help you learn about classes and roles. Here ya go! https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Revenant I know Revenant very well. Now answer my question Swag. How is Dwarf 's role "Defense"... explain yourself I linked that so you can learn more about it. Just read it I know Revenant very well. Again answer my question Swag, how is Dwarf's role "Defense".... why cant you just explain yourself? Perhaps you should explain to him/her why Dwarf isn't for defense then you may get your answer. Hey he the person that said Dwarf was defense role. It's up to Swag to explain that. Define what makes one legend defense or not. Perhaps because all but one of his skills are about control and... Gee. I don't know, defence? How about you explain why you are unwilling to accept the rather obvious.
  7. That's basically true for most of the dialogue. It makes little sense and people - sentient, intelligent creatures, just wouldn't act the way they do in the game. A case in point - the sheer childishness of many of the characters, Destiny's Edge's squabbles, the commander (player) indulging their every flight of fancy instead of putting their foot down like a commander would, etc. I get the feeling that whoever writes the dialogue at ANet perhaps lacks the required life experience to really explore the interactions and ideas that the game sets out for its characters. It's almost like a cheap fanfic, instead of the fleshed out novel the world's set pieces demand.
  8. I like this thread. Nearly every negative creature / dialog event listed here had the exact opposite effect on me. I find the story to be a little hum drum at times, and some of the more morally bereft moments are a joy to behold. As for negative moments for me, basically any time any NPC speaks who isn't Canach or Rytlock. That goes double for Taimi.
  9. We're getting Skritt as a playable race now? Finally! I'm jacked!
  10. Why? you just gonna quite next week when your done with this game B-but I just got comfortable running my Alacrigade in T4s!
  11. its also the most shallow profession in the game and the one that has the most hand holding from the devs when it comes to builds. Shallow? Only if you haven't taken the time to actually play it, Mister Scourge, sir. Of particular interest as a counter argument is the ~50 step condition rotation. Then there's the duality of resource and cooldown management and rhythm of switching legends at the right time to maximise skill availability and legend swap procs. You also have two heal skills to contend with, on elite double procs, cast time for most skills and so on and so forth. Shallow. Ha! :P OP - Go Rev, it's the most unique class in the game, and miles better than splurging around on a scourge. It's also a rather rare class, and has some interesting builds for every game mode, including straight damage, condition damage, healing, and boon support. First off, I'm a girl. So its Miss Scourge Lady. Second, Revenant is a class I actually rather enjoy the style of. The reason I don't play it super often is because it's so shallow. Maybe you believe its difficult to master but it's not. It was one of the easiest classes. The fact that you can recharge your energy in swap made damage spamming extremely easy. Also, my preference on Revenant was condi. I'm quite talented with condition builds and revenant isn't even in the top 5 most difficult. Well Mrs Scourge Lady, players tend to disagree with your easy to play theory, especially when it comes to PvP where most Revenants just die until you meet the 1/10 that know how to play the class. Get off your high-minion ;)

  13. Let's be honest here: people who reference someone's age as an argument against them tend to not be particularly mature themselves. But it was funny nonetheless.
  14. That's a joke, right? How does customizing a game UI so that it distracts you less and provides you with more comfort while you are playing the game, so that you can focus better on the game, keep you from playing the game? :s Logic? Because 99% of the time players don't actually know what's good for them. A properly designed, standardized user interface allows the developers to make certain assumptions about every player's experience which they can design around, instead of trying to accomodate every single niche configuration that someone might have put their UI into. Apple is a pretty good case study on this, specifically the development of iPhone. So its good for me to not be able to tailor my ui to look how i want it? Weid, the biggest mmos im familiar with all either have built in or support addons that allow you for deep costumisation. Giving one unchangeable preset for everyone instead of offering options and choices to everyone is just bad.Yes that's what I'm saying. It seems counter intuitive and relies on the design of the UI actually being good. The Apple example is a great scenario - the iPhone demonstrated that a touch screen interface really was the right next step for hand held interaction. They dragged everyone else kicking and screaming into the modern UX era. With GW2, having a standardised interface with few allowable add ons keeps every player more or less in lock step. The developers can make mechanical changes to the game and UI without fear of breaking everybody's third party add ons.

  16. Contrary to advice in this thread, you can actually drop Herald in favour of Renegade to use the Alacrigrade build, which brings nice group utility (alacrity, might, life steal, protection) and OK DPS. You can also run Viper's condition again with Renegade, and Demon. BUT none of that will help you while you level. Sadly for levelling you are probably going to want Dwarf and Assassin stances and two swords. You can certainly run Staff instead of Hammer for backup though, skill 5 is great for damage and break bar destruction, and skill 3 is a mobile block.
  17. I don't mind it, the first time I did it I had to ask the rest of the group what the feck was killing me, but after the explanation about not ranging bomb guy and shark I had a good time. I did it on T4 twice and Scourge definitely helped as someone mentioned. On the last boss you want to deal with the adds somehow (again as mentioned already) unless your dps is really good, because they can become unmanageably numerous otherwise. Now Shattered Observatory is the one that really gets on my tatties because it's loooooong and that Goddess lady is just irritating. DDR guy is at least a nice Crescendo, though.
  18. Thats kind of a gross misrepresentation of streamers. Sure there are those that might solicit for donations and the like, but I don't believe they are the ones that will last terribly long or grow very large. In fact I can't actively think of any that have. Many streamers are well aware of the luck of their circumstances and many express their gratitude to their fanbase. Don't take a few bad eggs as a representation of the larger group. Its just doesn't paint an accurate picture, especially in the case of when many do charity streams and ask for such donations so that they can go to said charities. Yes charity streams, so that they can gain even more viewership. I find the vast majority of streamers to be insuferable, especially those with a PIP of their faces visible at all times. You know, just in case anyone wants to actually look at those gloriously unshaven totems of narcissism.
  19. Probably because most GW2 players are actually playing the game? I've never understood why you would want to watch someone stream when you could just play. Championship type matches - sure, few people will ever reach that level of play so those kinds of games are exciting to watch and unique, just like sports (except not a sport). BUT! Just watching someone regularly playing a game? That'd be like a soccer buff watching a bad hand-held recording of some Brazilian kids kicking a ball around without any shoes on. With some mook's ugly mug in the corner and periodic reminders to donate for the privelege so said mook can continue wasting everybody's time. It's not exciting and actually it's a wee bit creepy.
  20. Those boxes were designed to eat the over abbundance of materials on the TP, seems like they are doing their job. 1/250k isn't low odds when one takes the game's population into account - as others have noted. I've scored numerous "very low" chance rewards in games I've been a developer on while testing in a production like environment. In GW2 I've gotten a precursor as a world chest drop as well. One must take the view of the developers when analysing data like this, especially when the boxes were designed to steer the game's economy as a whole.
  21. Not being able to salvage certain exotics really gets on my tits. I understand your ire OP, to not even be able to vendor it is irritating AF. It's basically a reward that slaps you in the face as all it's good for is being dragged out of your inventory.
  22. Does it matter that it's super unique? I suppose in a way. I know I'm chuffed that I can count the number of people I've seen who have moto's red and blue infusions on one hand, myself included ;)
