That was their big reveal, despite the playerbase's "it's just the 'first look'" excuse. Enjoy it for now, there won't be more for a while.

The stream was literally called "EoD first look", I don't know how is that a playerbase excuse.

To the OP, afaik the only dates revealed are related to the new specializations and the Alliances system (presumably not entirely related to EoD), I think we have the first beta this month?

EDIT:

We’ll be back in August to share an overview of how World Restructuring works and the timing of the first live beta events

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/arenanet-studio-update-july-2021/

During each beta event, you’ll be able to create three fully equipped level 80 beta characters and play a selection of elite specializations in existing PvE, World vs. World, Player vs. Player, and open-world content.

The first event will run from August 17 to August 21 and features the new mesmer elite specialization, the virtuoso. Stay tuned for more information about the other elite specializations available during the first event!

Beta Event 1: August 17—August 21

Beta Event 2: September 21—September 25

Beta Event 3: October 26—October 30

Beta Event 4: November 30—December

And despite what haters say, there will be more, since there are 5 confirmed masteries and we only know 3.

Well, you are lying. There is more to come: 8 new elite specs and the remaining masteries. HoT and PoF didn’t bring more.

Did you consider that they cant reveal them because they are story related? I assume something with the jade stuff.

ANet is full of surprises. Dont get your hopes up too much.

When PoF released there were 4 confirmes masteries and 1 hidden. So it could go any way..

Sorry, when have they ever released a story related mastery? I'm currently watching my mastery list and I see none, so I fail to see why should I ever consider what you say since there is no precedent.

There will be several Elite Spec beta weekends, the first one not that far away (source) :

  • Beta Event 1: August 17 - August 21
  • Beta Event 2: September 21 - September 25
  • Beta Event 3: October 26 - October 30
  • Beta Event 4: November 30 - December 4

It's pretty likely that there will be other live streams, as annouced, preceding each of those beta events.

So stop spreading misinfomation, thank you.

no that was all the content revealed:

-0 new pvp mode

- 0 new WvW map

-no raids

-no fractals

- no dungeon or elite mission like in gw1

- 0 new race

 -0 new class

- shing jea transformed into a paint pot

- strikes which are not even specific missions but just improved story bosses

- no housing

but don't worry, the saga has been slaughtered so that you catch carp and jump on the back of a turtle. amazing right?

final fantasy has a bright future ahead of it with this kind of competition 🤭

What are you even talking about? Every mastery is related to the Guild Wars 2 story......

Try not to feel too stupid when more stuff is rEvEaLeD and yes, it was a "first look" you just weren't happy with it. Stay mad I guess.

I'm guessing we'll get reveals of the next two elite specs this week and next before the first beta event. Otherwise, I would expect we'll get gradual teasers around every week or two until EoD is released.

- Only a minority of players do PvP, so a first look would almost certainly not include it.

- Alliances were announced as the big WvW feature coming at around the same time as EoD- A new WvW map doesn't feel that necessary imo as it would just spread players more and would likely get minimal use, especially if it is centered on a water theme (see Desert Borderlands).

 - Strikes seem to have replaced raids in terms of challenging content, probably to include more players (likely because raids had too little player interest for the majority of the community).

- Fractals can be released anytime and don't necessarily need to be released with expansions.

-See strikes comment above.

- As others have said in numerous other threads, having a new race would be way too costly for relatively little benefit (A combat tonic could do the same with significantly less effort).

- Class seems reasonable for an expac, but probably was not developed due to time/cost/resource limitations spent in other areas.

 - Shing-Jea seems to be more of a brighter area, but considering it is/was the home of a large monastery and mostly farmland/rich ministers' estates, I would expect it to be so. Other maps will likely be less bright (i.e. Echovald and Kaineng).

- Source for strikes just being story bosses instead of separate missions?

- Again likely not developed due to time/cost/resource limitations, although it would have been nice.

Based on the livestream, it seems like they put a large amount of effort into the open world maps/repeatable content/new masteries, so I don't think not having those specific features implemented will significantly decrease most players' enjoyment of the expac.

The "First Look" phrase was not added until very recently. The reveal teaser dropped a year ago and since that time weve been building up with, "All will be revealed in July!"

Its not the player base that came up with it, but some have certainly grabbed hold of it for dear life. There are no huge reveals. None that are anywhere near ready to show. We didnt even actually see the turtle mount.

"July 27—Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons First Look"

First mention to that stream.

3 months. Recent.

Teaser released August 25th.

Beyond that Im not going to bother digging any more. Its already been pushed back once and thats all they had to show.

There are multiple high profile titles releasing in the next few months. If that was their idea of getting out ahead of the pack...

I will likely play around in EoD at some point. But I have realistic expectations considering what manpower they have left.

I think there will be some reveals this month on the 9th Anniversary stream.

I have major doubts they will show much more besides details on the stuff theyve already shown. I hope to be proven wrong though, that they are holding back major things that they havent talked about at all yet, and if they do ill be one of the first to admit i judged early. 🙂

I think it might be time to realize that if a lot of players are not in pvp or in hm pve instance, it is precisely because no content has been added for years.

And that these communities have fled the game.

And for the wvw it was just logical to finish the three maps of the outer border.

Obviously if we always intend to please the same specialist of the spam 1, the game does not innovate and no longer attracts anyone.

HOT and POF had started with a lot more hype..Finally, just see the number of views of the EOD teaser on YouTube, it's a complete flop. The competition laughs in advance. It is certainly not with fishing or turtles that you revive the future of a game.

You really have to be in bad faith to tell me that this announcement was successful, it was a disaster, there are no other words.

I think we expected much more than that after months of boring content, months that we have to endure an absolute vacuum with drm .. So that in the end, they arrive quietly announcing that salmon fishing is their big feature ... Sounds like a bad joke and I'm impressed you could still defend them.

Your post reminded me of something ive noticed in game:

Nobody is talking about the expansion unless they are joking about turtles and fishing. HOT and POF had people buzzing in game..even my guild of ~400 fairly active players hasnt even been excited about it. Our mesmer players got excited for the Elite spec, but for everyone else it seemed to have missed pretty bad.
