Post Patch Balance Discussion.

IMO this patch didn't really do anything to the meta. What are your thoughts?

    Byebye Daggerstorm stability.
    Byebye double-trippletap spam.

    Thieves got a hit. Less cheese with being immortal for 4 seconds, and less riflecheese.
    Id rather they revert those nerfs and slaps deadeye stealthduration and/or deadeye elite making it 1 charge instead of 2 charges, and lower the CD as compensation.

  • Reaper was bad as it was. And now they reduced where most of the damage comes from. 30% reduction on chill of death is a joke, really.

    It's not bad. what was considered rifle cheese is nerfed, so Deadeyes have to work a bit harder.
    buff to mending will be good for peak performance wars. Maybe some wars will start pressing 6 so people can find something other than HS to whine about.
    Reaper nerf was ehh, but I'll need to see it in game. passive damage procs dont really hold the spec together atm.
    QoL on Ele, thats nice.
    Elusive Mind nerf, doesnt fix the main issue, but for those mesmers that NEED to move after being stunned, itll be a nice thorn in the sid-

    Confounding suggestions nerf is a major disappointment. I've been trying to go against the grain and play power mirage instead of condi, but it seems like anet wants everyone to just play condi then.

    Nerf power mirage, do nothing to condi mirage. Fine ill play condi then.

    Haha, nice build up! :lol:

    Completely random nerf. Didn't target anything that was asked for.

    The rest... nothing too bad, again some (in my opinion) wrong directions for nerfs (EM, Deadeye, ...), some things ignored (holo, ele), but some good things too. It never was intended to be a big patch anyways.

  • K so Mesmer counterplay is now:

    Bring significant condi clear because every single mes, including the ones on power chrono and power core, is going to be running condi and infinite horizon, because EM is suicide and confounding doesn't provide the damage prereq and setup their burst.

  • The Confounding Suggestions, nerf was the easy way to fix its bug sadly. the stun would sometimes trigger and hit people mid evade interrupting dodge animations. You ever notice mantra mesmers 1 shotting you mid dodge? Thats why. The kind of sucks though, it would've been better if they just fixed the trait.

    Soaring Devastation: In addition to its other effects, this trait now grants an increased 25% movement speed when Wings of Resolve is not on cooldown.

    means the running speed for dh is 25% faster or the jump is 25% faster ?

    Yep, it is.
    Rifle nerfed in an 'almost" proper way. Bad deadeyes (and ones with wrong builds) will get punished for missing their abilities.
    I like change to EM, now it actually makes sense.

    They did, but it didn't affect the meta holo build. Take a look at the Overshield change -- looks like they want to bring tank holos into the meta.

    Overall decent changes to engi. Will have to try out the changes when I get home. I guess the lack of a Nerf shows that anet also sees Holo as a well balanced spec. Only wish scrapper would get some buffs

    I can't complain, as long as a more substantial patch is in the works and this wasn't meant to replace a full balance patch.

    There is no balancing that could prevent the decline of GW2 PvP.

    We've been asking for a cake for a long time now. With the exception of Warrior, everyone is still running essentially the same builds since last year.

    Protip: It feels a lot less bad when you expect nothing. This way when the balance team delivers nothing, you feel no disappointment.

    Hardly touched on what's wrong with the meta?
    Ignored overperforming builds?
    Class favoritism?
    Insignificant changes like +1% or +1 second duration?

    Shock! Dismay! Horror! It's not like this is how every balance patch is or anything.

    As an engie, I don't see this patch being smaller than most. In fact I'd say this was a "big" balance patch for engie's standard.

    Guardian sword should not have damage shaved. I feel like they're trying at least though. I wish I could talk to a dev and give them advice on how to fix DH

    The 5 people who still pretend WvW roaming is a serious game mode got pissy over Ranger actually being good and anet threw them a bone.

    As an Ele, I try to keep this in mind. Really hoping for something big (pvp-wise) next patch.

    People have been telling themselves "the big one that finally gets it right" is "just an update away" for years now.

    Both core engineer and scrapper got buffed, scrapper in particular got buffed with Over Shield. Support scrapper can now use Medic Gyro with Reconstruction Field and have 40% of damage reduction. Also, this buff gave me a build crafting idea for scrapper using the Thumper Turret with the Experimental Turrets trait. Combine that with the increased boon duration from alchemy and rune of the water and you have a solid bunker build.

    How dare you (ANet) forgot to nerf IH, now mesmer has still one playable build...
    Meanwhile, the most, how to put it, relaxed, specs to play, holo and spb not only didn't get a single nerf but even got more options to choose from.

    Pro-tip: just stop playing pvp in this game and you wont be disappointed. The new w6 raid is pretty fun and i've just been letting my rating decay while enjoying actual good content instead of some trash mode that the ANet doesnt care about :p. It also doesnt seem like they are willing to change anything in terms of how they do things based on this balance patch, so honestly just move on

    Patch didn't really do anything to fix any problems. If you are going to do a patch you should really fix the problems. But hey, they've ignored the problems for how many patch cycles now?

    I'm just waiting for those that called for IM nerf start saying that , despite getting their wish and the trait being nerfed, that mesmer didnt get nerfed because [insert complaint about IH]

    on a side note grenade engi gets perma fury on top of perma bleed and cripple, and hmm I wonder what we can get with new might stacking on flamethrower..

    guess I'll go back to staring into the abyss waiting for hammer changes now.

    Aaaaaand it's nothing. And sword got pretty heavily nerfed. Soaring Devastation and Zealous Blade open some testing options, but I honestly doubt anything to help DH break out of tier 3.

    Lesser Spinal Shivers nerf - Yes. Yes. Deserved.

    Thief nerfs seem quite controversial. Thrill of Crime's a welcome buff.

    Not sure why Lead the Wind got changed on Ranger's side. Druid's still in the trash can.

    I expected small nerfs to Holo. Not the biggest offender so I guess it's not too bad.

    Heh, I use it. I love taking out 2-3 at once with pierce. How much dps is lost?

    Rev's overall damage got nerfed a bit because of less stacks of might Incensed Response gives. The reworked trait Nefarious Momentum makes might more effective but that means giving up 150 Ferocity from Assassin's Presence. I think it's a step in the right direction - Incensed Response is a very lazy way to gain might and it needed to be nerfed.

    Deadeye's Three Round Burst and Double Tap now cost 6 initiatives. IMO Death's Judgement is annoying but not always unavoidable - its sound cue is pretty obvious (might not work for people who have trouble hearing though). They haven't done anything about Backstab and Deadeye's Stealth though - I was hoping for more.

    Just like every patch, instead of nerfing the OP elite spec abilities, they buff core stuff which was borderline OP 4 years ago.

    At least they nerfed Chill of Death 3 years too late.

    Talking only about what i play.

    No changes to Scrapper whatsoever make me sad.
    Deadeye nerfs are good, can't mindlessly spam 3 and blow up someone (or at least not as much)
    Power Rev changes are reasonable as well.

    Well I wasn't using warhorn on druid anyway :P. The new healing with windborne notes in this patch is not significant enough to change that, with healing power it doesnt scale well. The lead of the wind nerf is just typically Anet, and in the same line with the historical frost trap 10% dmg buff.
