  1. Thanks for the vid, was pretty fun seeing pistol gameplay. I would suggest taking elexir over supply crate for moa and stab/cc. You get way more value out of that kit. Also I'd probably take battering ram over goggles, it gives you burning and a really fun cc skill to boot. I don't think pistol is a good weapon unfortunately on any engi build, it's too focused on single targeting, relatively short ranged and doesn't have any interesting utilities or burst set-up. I would guess that something like scrapper flamethrower would have more of an effect. This is the problem with any core engi builds atm unfortunately. Too much high maintenance for minimal results :(
  2. GOOD PLAYERS ARE RUINING MY EXPERIENCE BY PLAYING THE SAME GAME-MODE AS METhe forum post.
  3. de can do somthing in 1v1, but it depends on where, what cooldowns will u have, etc. U will never kill a mirage, ranger and some dp thief - all of these guys can be ur same skill lvl with u or a bit lower, that doesnt matter-. U can also be kited by weaver pretty long and be killed too. Doing something is hardly ever worth it unless you get a kill out of that "something" within seconds. Reliance on stealth means you cannot hold points, even contesting them is pretty hard over a longer period of time. Ah yes, DE is really hard to play when you pick the wrong traits and do subpar combos. Well I guess I just imagine being top 100 with it. I must be quite delusional. After all you cannot pewpew once a reflecting dome or swirling winds goes up on mid, so that match is pretty much over I guess. Again, guess I don't exist. For some reason, this is not just your opinion, almost everyone thinks this way. Either they are too lazy to properly learn DE, or I'm a uniquely gifted PvP god. As much as I want to think it's the latter, reality is people just don't want to put in effort into a lame looking pew-pew. Just say you don't want to play it.I don't want to play it. In fact I don't want it to exist.Wake me up from this nightmare.
  4. ? Condi thief isn't even that good, it gets deleted as soon as the other team has power thief or rev. Its burst set-up takes a while to reset and most other meta builds out-there have enough tools to mitigate their damage unless all cd's are on. It's granted not a fun build to play against but it's rather annoying than oppressive.
  5. I also don't understand the builds > balance argument since there are builds that are perfectly fine as they are in their role (warrior) but because other builds are easier to play, more oppressive (condi revs) and deal more damage (holo) to the point of "wat", these viable builds are less viable in the general meta. So if you address the most problematic builds you let others take the stage. Also, there will always be builds that are better than others and that's fine.
  6. Yes, this is the EXACT issue. Jack of all trades, master of all cannot be in a RPG, especially not a PvP one. Herald is balanced by being complete hot garbage in PVE :^) /sAnd yet herald is the most oppressive thing in wvw aside scourge.
  7. I have a simpler suggestion. Nerf every single condi build in pvp until they become unplayable.
  8. I do agree that thief is fine, I personally don't have problems with playing even d/p, although I generally go for daredevil s/d as I feel it can stay in fights a bit longer and it does actually a bit more damage. It is true that the meta became tankier and you don't have your 9k backstabs anymore, but that's fine too - probably a mark of a healthier game. Thief is in a good place and I would rather we didn't touch it in the next balance patch.
  9. Burn guard is the issue? I think your l2p issue is an issue.
  10. Karma when these guys are in the opposing team the next game and you can farm them over and over again until they ragequit. From most of my games the large majority the one kitten and moaning in chat is usually a thief (the others are the FOTM and of course the magic thief mesmer).I think it is a weird psychological thing related to the type of person that would pick a thief. Having the ability to not die and reset when they chose over time screws with their head, the ability to perceive their situation is kinda clouded in ego.I recommend thief mains to play the other classes and builds (especially something like Reaper which is the total opposite of thief), maybe they will get some timing for how long classes hold out in 1v1 and 1v2 when to help when to go somewhere else. A lot to unpack here, so I'm not even going to bother.
  11. Man people on the forums have a hard on for discussing thief, even when it’s not very good in the meta.
  12. I literally had games where I carried and still got "omg this thief" after a loss, so you know.... Just smile, take criticism when it's constructed and correct and move on. You're not here to get a medal from your team-mates at the end, you are here to win and get better.
  13. Some stuff is defiantly better. I do prefer the lower power scaling overall as it did open up some more builds for general play. Even though more builds are playable they still don't stand a chance against what's best. Go up against something like a double condi rev, FB, tempest comp and you're just a hacky sack that's full of condi. Before I would get burst down and be done. Now I get to franticly mash buttons and hope that I can get a skill off between stuns and maybe live another 2 seconds. I mean there will always be a meta, so there are always going to be builds better than other. I was having fun recently playing core engineer grenades, something I would never have been able to play pre patch. And against worse players, I can even win 1v1s (vs slb/ranger, sb, fb and ele - only class I find kind of oppressive is condi rev). And that build is more for memes than anything else, I play it purely for fun but it's a good feeling to be able to perform on it. Now of course, on equal skill level, I could never hope to beat a "meta" build, and I think that's perfectly fine. CC is more impactful overall now with sources of stab being reduced and stun break cooldowns being increased. CC might not deal any damage but it's easier to make CC "stick" now. The strong part off CC has always been the CC part, even if it did good damage. You're right though that if you get focused by the enemy team you're gonna get clapped. That's how it has been and always will be. The difference, to me at least, is before you were more able to get a stun break/stab off in an attempt to reposition and sustain after the focused started. Now once the CC starts rolling in you might as well take a sip of tea and wait to die because it doesn't stop till you're dead. Does this happen every fight? No, it mostly just happens when I'm up against higher tier players and pre-mades but that's where the strongest stuff is played. You kind of touched on what I was thinking, as in cc feels more impactful. I think people are feeling cc as being more oppressive now because of the fact that it doesn't do damage anymore. Against rampage, you would get a stomp for 5k, and then bolder for 8k, and then rush for 8k and then it was basically gg. CC chains are now much longer and so we feel them more. I recently dueled a sb with GH /Sw:M and was basically permastunned, but the guy wasn't doing any damage to me. It was an interesting exercise in that there were some cc chains that had gaps where I needed to break stun, and if I did it at any other point I would be locked in again and my break stun would be wasted. My point being is that because, yes you are right, breakstun and stab are less common now the game pushes you to use your resources more intelligently, which I ultimately find more rewarding.
  14. While I agree that the situation is not perfect, for me it’s still very much preferable to what we had before patch. I can get away playing different things since the game isn’t powercreeeped to shit anymore. As for CC, I don’t really understand your point. There is the same amount of cc as before and it doesn’t do damage as it used to + the damage overall is toned down. Really any situation where you get footballed and then die is when you’re single targeted in a team fight but that’s really how things should be. I think CmC said in a stream that they are thinking of removing some cc on skills and replace them with direct damage. We’ll see.
  15. Explosive entrance is a bit overtuned, but nothing that cant be fixed with a short icd on the grandmaster trait
  16. Thief is fine atm lol whatcha on about
  17. Game is better now than it has ever been tbh. Most nerfs are deserved and serve the purpose of making the game slower.
  18. There is something that I don't understand though. Everyone is pointing at duoq's and moaning that they are ruining the game, but in reality, good players that try hard duoq's are in p3+, aren't they? Probably get put with people as low as p1 but further down it has to be rare (at least on EU - and outside of prime time). And my feeling is that people posting here are somewhere in g1/p1 category. So how come it's an issue for them? I can't imagine duoq's in in gold being of such higher value than solo q. Why is this such a big deal for players at this tier?
