  1. I said they didn't know about Soo-Won's involvement with the Xunlai Jade main reactor.... Firstly, there is not actually that much of an army participating in Battle of the Jade Sea. There is very limited Ministry of security presence, and then we have to rely on Jade Brotherhood, Kestrels, AND Speakers support for beginning stages, right until main Pact forces arrives. Moreso, The battle happens on the edge of the Empire - where most of people being in there in the first place were miners employed by the Xunlai Jade. Even moreso, Commander is not "called to fix some political problem", commander is literally wanted as a criminal, on charges of sabotaging Xunlai Jade main reactor, and is going out of their way, to get the proof of their innocence to the correct people to fix that little issue. "some political problem" shows it's head, because "outsiders" being proven innocent of the sabotage does not align with Purist goals. Purists, whom do not care (or even like) all that new fancy Jade Tech, and leader of which happens to be the main guy in charge of ministry of security. Because as I have mentioned, not only they are not asking commander to deal with their politics, commander happens to stumble into their internal little affair on their way to get's cleared of charges of sabotaging reactor that was powerifn the city. LWS4 indeed did feature alot of good writing, but it was in the end too rushed and too squished to really be "best", and PoF story was definitelly not "best of all", it's easilly beaten by HoT alone. Not to mention it literally rehashed Factions story step of "you die, but the higher power lets you live because you have world to save". Also to point out how much attention you are paying to the story - crystal dragon does NOT sweep in to steal the thunder, you are literally interrupting Balthazar's fight with the dragon in the first place. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh wait, you are serious? Let me laugh even harder: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LWS4 is very far from perfect. it opens strongly, but then it drops a number of eyebrow raisers (inquest being virtually everywhere apparently, having silly amount of manpower, with base rivaling literal capital city of Asura race in scale, pacifist charr that somehow managed to get past alot of interesting place to settle on their island right next to the Joko's shores, just to name a couple), with neither of arcs even taking most interesting route they could, and being robbed of their potential by being squished into half-season each. With crowning achievement of All or Nothing, which checks out a bingo on the "bad writing practices" card. It virtually should be taken as a study how to NOT write an episode. And then War Eternal, which does not features anything eternal in it's story study, and was probably a decent save from the absolute wreck of all for nothing, but it does not really work when played back-to-back - it is one of the cases where it could only ever work when you have a couple months of wait in between these two. I definitelly found it more intriguing than venturing into the desert in search of a mad god of war. mai trin getting actual character development, with a different light shown on her involvement with scarlet was indeed quite nice, Soo-Won... I don;t recall her having much of character development at all, but as a last ED she was not bad. Her not being "evil" as opposed to rest of elder dragons was iffy move, that when proposed as player theory I did not found likely (mostly due to movement of the world contradicting that), but they have managed to address core issues I'd have with it, so they managed it fine. The final fight - both in terms of the meta event, and last instance, was actual masterpiece of a spectacle. The visuals, the music, and general design was top notch if you paid attention to anything, and saying that it didn't feel like a "great elder dragon at all" sounds very weird. She got much better both meta event and final instance than Kralkatorrik - whom you have just called "perfect". personally I do not see much of room to stretch that story arc into whole next season, without compromising pacing, and slapping in arbitrary slog into the late acts. You know what would be good tho? if LWS4 story arc was told over two seasons. there is no point at which "changes mind" of "Joko's Army" about commander in particular. There is one side story where we deal in awakened victim learning that awakened are people too, and a bunch of awakened structures that do not mind not being mind controlled by an Elder Lich. Also, purists can still be deeper explored with LWS6 - since we have cancelled yet another apocalypse, we can now focus on the cultural fallout of it. So yeah, you calling other people that they only like "mindless farming" is still very ironic.
  2. You keep accusing the other fellow of only wanting "mindless farms" and yet somehow you managed to miss the huge story point of how Soo-Won being actually the centerpiece of Joon's reactor was a state secret that nobody was not willing to even mention her involvement with the tech at all, until we have figured ourselves that jade tech is powered by "pure dragon magic"? The people of Cantha wouldn't even know the dragon had anything to do with that cool tech. Also of people whom were sure to know about origin of energy in jade batteries, all of them were greatly concerned about her going missing, with only person whom could have known that didn't care was literally leader of purist movement, whom was openly hostile to all Joon's creations in the first place. So I think that next time, before you go on accusing anyone else of mindlessness, make sure that you didn't skip a big plot points while putting out critique of story content. (Personally I would rank EoD story as better quality writing and narration compared to PoF)
  3. I am quite sure that unequipping/swapping template with ascended weapon will also drop off the stacks from sigils.
  4. well if I load up firebrand and put all the mantras in, I can just smack my face into the keyboard and all the mantras should go off semi-simultaneously... wouldn't helpf for weapon skills, since none of them are instant activations like mantras (dunno if mesmer mantras have same behaviour?) That being said so far as the thread goes for all I know, OP got wrecked by some engineers or elementalists and obviously it had to been macros because there is no other way OP has lost in a fight! at least that's all I can come up with based on OP posts in this thread so far. My view may change if OP provides more substantial information on what they are on about.
  5. Personally I am having hard time to relate to the main topic, because when I was in position of a newbro, we didn't have transmutation charges, we had transmutation stones, and there were two types on them, one working only gear in lvl ranges of 1-79 (and these were as common as current charges) and other working for lvl 80 gear (and much more rare). So overall within my frame of experience, current wardrobe system is great improvement. Nobody is treating gemstore skins as anything to grind for. when you buy them, you get item which you then can use to apply this skin on any compatible item. On secondary effect it also unlocks as a skin within wardrobe system (which for further applications does require transmutation charges), but there is still nothing to grind for there. Not by a long shot. EDIT: and you DO get it right after you paid for - for a single item, for sure, but you can apply it to any valid item without any additional transmutation charges.
  6. "died off screen" the whole cinematic cutscene of last standoff between Mai Trin and Ankka: "am I a joke to you"?
  7. There was a reddit thread where dude that made the system explained how it works, it's ancient and unfortunatelly I do not have link handy anymore.... ah nevermind, Wiki had it in references:
  8. that part is incorrect, PvE and WvW was using same gear, PvP had it's separate stats system (and armor slots for skins)
  9. it is a decent arc starter tho - I could imagine a fair number of scenarios of what kind of trouble taimi with joon can dig up in search for alternative power source 🙂 Edit: Well considering how Taimi reacted to just the part of "we are using jade as power source", it is possible that there is some crucial difference between ley juices, and ED extracted juices.
  10. ah so you want the rollback on powercreep, I see 😉
  11. wait, is it? You mean that if someone has this skin equipped and let's say hops on a zipline they will see the skin and everyone else will see basic jadebot instead?
  12. Rest of the pavilion is not representation of what watchknights are meant to be, but a reuse of already developped tech for entertainment. I did play the story and read all there was to read, within original scope of it. That being said, they could have made alterations I am not aware off. In case you failed to notice at no point I implied it was or not necessary, I just made a lighthearted joke that new design makes more sense from perspective of what it is was supposed to be for, which you felt super necessary to assault and take super seriously. Disclaimer: my responses to you attack on my joke, were 100% serious, even if based on retconned by now lore. Note: even if scarlet actually took part in building and designing them, it does not change the fact, that the state that ordered the production of those war machines, meant them for actuall fighting.
  13. yeah neglected is a very poor choice of word, guardians did have alot of AN attention when balancing (as shown by a litany of nerfs in nearly every balance pass)
  14. Well I know a couple of ranged weapon with much faster AA skill, causing confusion to hurt much harder if you are not mindfull of it 😉
  15. They fixed the recoil animation, and now I can't stop thinking how many concussions per minute is my character experiencing when using rifle xD
  16. I mean, isn't that a problem of every projectile based ranged weapon within the game? 🙂
  17. There is also still the energetical security of cantha on the table too - specifically, figuring out how to recharge jade batteries without elder dragon "reactor". Joon and Taimi, may have improved energy efficiency of the batteries, with aurene topping off current stockpile of those, but as Taimi herself said, that's only really buying them time to figure out proper solution. So this plotline is on the table as well 🙂
  18. no, there is clear distinction of making something just to be smashed up, and making something for war, and then have it demonstrate it's fighting capability on arena. In particular, for example, at no point was Logan Thackeray supposed to win it's duel with a watchknight, during the "demonstration", and he would have no issue beating a dummy down, if it was just that. .... ok so let's try a better paralel there. let's say hypothetical country A, designs a new battletank. It is meant for war. Now it turns out they are vulnerable to hijacking and I being mad scientist, stole them, and then twisted them to some mad vision of mine - that was unrelated to original vision, and actually exposes alot of machinery to be hit. What you are doing here is saying that any armor those tanks had in the first place was irrelevant because I stripped them anyway. Except she was NOT comissioned to make them (at least according to original story), she ASKED to get access to them, and got DENIED which is why she made a show of stealing them like she did.
  19. Didn't play the new version yet, but during original run it was literally "hey guys, lemme showcase you newest krytan defenders that will replace human troops on our frontlines so people no longer need to die to defend kryta, and we will do now practical demonstration too!" They were NOT meant as "literally" dummies for smashing. They were NOT "repurposed" for white Mantle attack during S3, that was first battleready deployment we saw within story, a deployment that had been delayed due to MK1 watchknights getting stolen and turned into clockwork monstrocities by Scarlet - so obviously when your new main combat golem proves suspecible to this sort of shenanigans, you get it back to the design board, and see how to make sure it no longer is vulnerable like that, which obviously delays actuall deployment. Also on additional note - before MK2 watchknights got ready to deploy AN has moved out of the idea of doing "living world" in the way LWS1 did, so even if they got "in lore" deployed sooner to the frontlines, we would not see it easilly, due to the whole "maps frozen in time" shtick. Which was result of Scarlet twisting them, not part of original design, nor intent of it's original creators. I mean haven't you see Scarlet at this point of the story? that sylvari was already mad. And since when "mad scientist" would care if the clockwork horror they are creating out of somebody elses tech is adequatelly protected from application of force on it's mechanism?
  20. "the former glory" where it would take on average 2h to kill claw of jormag, and it virtually involving people actively leaving the map to go all the other bosses, while someone else is bashing on it?
  21. even if the claim about ToS was anyhow accurate, it takes just hopping onto a couple rounds of ranked matches during the "prime time" nowadays, to realize how practically wrong it is 🙂
  22. As someone whom for far longer than not, was stuck with single traits/skills setup per game mode, and single gear setup globally, having to haul a bunch of weaponry in my backpacks for merely swapping between specific builds, having three trait/skill setups that I can use in all the modes, and two gear sets to swap on the go without taking inventory space, with ability to expand, is a major step up, not a hindrance.
  23. at this point, general boredom, with a mix of procrastination.....
  24. Considering they were constructs meant for combat, it would make sense for them to not want to leave this much of internal machinery exposed, and hide it under plating 😛
  25. and this is why they are consistently nerfed in nearly every balance patch for nearly 10 years now 🙂 To the thread - yeah, this ain;t rechanrge as others have said, it is indication that mech is performing other skill (or is stunned) which is extremely important to know when tight timings are concerned.
