  1. As a general rule my rng is usually pretty bad but I had this drop the first time I did the event. I have no idea what the drop rate is but it's very strange that you CAN buy it for gold and karma, but only after you've already got it.
  2. Selling during peak time theoretically means more buyers, but it also means more people selling the same items and undercutting you. Likewise, offpeak means fewer buyers but also fewer people to undercut you. The nett result may be the same. What does make a difference is supply and demand. You can see how many listings there are of an item and how many bids and how close to the selling price is the highest bid offer. This gives a better indication of how quickly an item will sell. You can also use online tools like gw2spidy that has extensive graphs for this type of thing.
  3. As veteran from release I agree that most of the items I get from chests is junk. But I still key run and occasionally buy keys when they're on special because not ALL items are junk. You can at the very least build up a stash of statuettes to buy items you want and also ticket scraps if you get those to drop. The unlocks are actually way better for vets since we're likely to already have all the cheap and general skins unlocked or have enough gold to buy them first. I always use wardrobe analyser before using unlocks for this reason. Some of the other items are not totally useless, the revive orbs I actually like getting and the Tyrian exchange voucher is incredibly useful if you're making legendaries, another point that favours vets since they're more likely to make them.
  4. Not much different from how you have to choose one weapon sigil over another. Defense or offense, you have to choose. If you want to change runes, sigils etc then you have to re-equip. The only complaint I have with the bot is that currently you have to re-equip at either eod maps at the station or at one you purchase for your guild hall. I don't have a guild hall and am not a member of one that does. Sure I could join one, but to go to just for bots? No thanks. If they allowed the bot station to be used in the LA guild headquarters I'd be happy.
  5. Had a try and fail today. Not even close with close to 20% remaining. Rng was pretty bad with consecutive bites and side switching. We lost a lot of time chasing from one side to the other. However, there were so many people going down. Every wave, stomp etc so many were downed. The first pair of champs also took way too long and dps seemed really low. We didn't even make the second champ phase. Even if rng had been better we probably would still have failed. To make it worse, with a couple minutes to go people started leaving, even the comm.
  6. If the average success rate is 60% and many organised guilds etc that do it regularly are boasting 90+% success, how many other groups are failing in order to bring it back down that low?
  7. I'm a casual and also older gamer (anyone else remember Temple of Apshai?) but I do occasionally do fractals and more recently strikes for the first time. I run Arcdps because 1. I want to get an idea of how much damage I'm doing 2. How I compare against other people or classes and 3. Because I don't want to be a drag on the group I'm in. While I may never be top of the list, I'm satisfied that I'm not at the bottom either.
  8. I'm not sure if this is correct but it seems like the map population caps are much lower on EOD maps.
  9. I don't see baubles as that different to other festival currency like candy corn, zhaitaffy etc. That's just baubles I mean, not necessarily bubbles although bubbles would be good as well.
  10. I think it has to be at least a T6 core. Anyway, from I've seen most vendors and even crafting vendors (except chef) now sell it. Even the Tyria ones.
  11. Yep, happened to me. Right in the middle of meta on a full map.
  12. imo bag slots are not worth it since it's per char. I did get one on what WAS my main but I'm doing fine on my most recent main without one. I prefer account wide upgrades, so bank slots and material storage expanders. As for getting the gems, when I want to add more of these things I just use $ to buy them when the items are on sale. My gold I need for crafting mostly and occasionally buying something off the TP.
  13. I don't know why but in some previous years the pack that contains this came out a week or so after the start of the event.
  14. You can buy the egg now. From the vendor near the northern WP.
  15. Just a comment with Cantha maps in general, if they could at least put direction arrows on the zip lines like the nuhoch tunnel thingies in TD that would be a big help.
  16. It takes extra time, but anything I try to "research" I buy/make only one of first. Note that it can also be cost effective to make higher tier ie exotic items since these salvage into papers or notebooks giving 40-50 or 50-100 notes respectively. As with anything, you need to do your own sums to work out if this will end up better for you.
  17. Sarcasm is lost on some people. I thought the first line would be enough giveaway.
  18. I think the problem with the Cup of Light-Roasted Coffee was that 3 of the 4 ingredients are directly purchasable (except for milling stones) and at quite low cost. If material sink is what they're after then this would be why they nerf any such recipe.
  19. Much of what you say is correct. HOWEVER, from what I have seen and experienced one of the largest contributing factors to failure is the fact that random elements play too great a role. You could have the same group playing it twice in a row and one attempt beat it easily with several minutes remaining and one could fail with several % health left purely because of the sequences you get each time. Anet have acknowledged this already by making changes to some of the random elements. I have been able to beat it once, just. I also think it is a good meta and I have no problem with the mechanics or difficulty. What I do have a problem with is the excessive randomness that can make even the best, most organised group fail through no fault of their own.
  20. I posted this in another thread already but here it is again- Considering some of the story elements/dialogue and direction etc in EOD, I would expect the the 4th expansion to be something like this - Tyria is facing disastrous climate change with [Aetherblades/dredge/insert recycled antagonists here] cutting down forests for some reason. Charr factories spewing out CO2 are making it worse and their leadership believe climate change is a hoax. At the same time a virulent poison plague spread by some doctor is decimating populations and conflict erupts between those that are willing to take condition reduction potions and those that believe the potions will exert mind control over them somehow. Protests erupt all over Tyria in support of and against action on climate change and a movement begins in support of SLM (skritt lives matter). Our intrepid commander and [insert preferred pronoun here] guild mates must navigate though all this and save the world yet again while as a side quest [insert preferred pronoun here] saves a critically endangered species of choya.

  22. "Players with alt accounts are a very small percentage of our overall player base"
  23. tried twice last night and failed both with about 5-6% remaining. Both fairly well organised to a typical meta standard. I think a big contributor to our failure was taking too long on the champs. People didn't split evenly and dps seemed very low. In fact having arcdps up I could see dps in general was pretty low from a lot of people.
  24. Just RNG. On all maps so far I had the legendary drop before the rares/exotics and found the ascended to be the hardest to get.
