  1. I wholeheartedly agree. Little known fact: When we started a few years back, all acounts came with unlocked elite specs and masteries, we also got a headstart with a few hundred gold to acquire the best gear possible at the time.
  2. That's more than a whole month of a sub based MMO. I disagree that it should be the default price for regular skin. welcome to the world of "micro" transactions. You get some miniscule addition to your gaming experience for the price that will get you a full fledged other game on steam. Get used to it, that is the norm and will probably even go further in the near future - whale pockets seem to be getting deeper and deeper =)
  3. I agree with you in as much as I do not enjoy the scrounging aspect of GW2 a lot, but what really puzzles me... 1g/h? Surely that must be a gross exaggeration or your really have no idea what you are doing at all.
  4. so that got to "everyone who does better than me is either a useless no-lifer or a kid" pretty fast, huh? Well, I can only speak for myself, though I have a feeling many players are in my position, but anyway, HERE IS MY VERY IMPORTANT OPINION. I have a full-time job plus commuting and visit the gymn/dojo at least every other day. Yet I did not struggle remarkably in HOT. So maybe this really is more about you than the expansion. And here is the kicker: Apparently, you even are a student. So here is ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT OPINION, though I am pretty sure this one is shared by almost every working person that went through U or other forms of higher education: You do not have the slightest idea what busy even means... like, not at all :)
  5. seems to me OP confuses casual player with being socially awkward. I haven´t noticed casual players not enjoying socializing in games.
  6. prolly some luck involved, but did it in 3rd try. and was actually quite intimated by all the complaints I read while I took a break when the episode was released. Just like in the case of Eater of Souls, most difficulty complaints are grossly exaggerated around here.
  7. the trinity has a lotof strategy for several reasons.tanking is about positioning and protecting.you have to make sure the boss doesnt cleave all your dps and healersthis has massive potential in gw2.healers have to keep people alive.. this requires strategy.and dps has to dodge mechanics and do their rotation well. this seem simple but it also is tons easier to design complicated content to.world bosses at the moment are people passively applying boons.running around and rezzing people and we are all just trying to dps the boss down fast enough. with a trinity you have tanks holding down bosses and key enemies.healers keeping those tanks alive.dps trying to stay alive while dps those key big enemies so we can go back and focus on the big boss. tank uses taunt ability or goes in for damage aggrohealer goes woosh woosh from some corner on tanktank has established aggrodps moves in to a safe spot(loop)dps unleasheshealer goes woosh woosh from some corner on tank(/loop) that is the whole "strategy" in all strict trinity games, yeah, impressive. Yeah, you're right. Everyone just playing versions of "DPS/Support" and stacking in a pile is a much more interesting way of handling things... it barely is, but still, calling the trinity "strategy" is hogwash. Personally, I had hoped GW2 would be more about situational combat and reacting to a dynamic environment, no rotations, certainly not that ridiculous stacking and even more restrictive builds, . If it's hogwash, then why couldn't they figure out a way to design compelling encounters without introducing pseudo tanks and healers? And why would you want to play a game that does that rather than a game that builds from the ground up with that in mind? Flexibility is not a bad thing, but that isn't the issue with GW2 raiding. The issue is that they took away these dynamics, but didn't replace them with anything. Worse, they couldn't figure out a way to fully do without them, so they re-introduced them as a pale shadow of what they are in the games they're poorly copying after they said they wouldn't.failure to come up with a much better alternative does not elevate an original system, but you seem to be completely enthralled by the trinity. That being said, I doubt we are that much divided about GW2 approach as it appears.

  10. GURPS, it can do anything. Want to play the intricacies of a FDA clerk who is a grey hat hacker on the weekend, but also enjoys competing in underground bloodsport, using the price money to further a side career in the clergy... GURPS!
  11. because your mount is a state of your character, not an object. That could be changed I guess, but not worth the effort at all imo.
  12. as far as I remember, I never had to grind out any masteries, the necessary ones seemed pretty much aligned with character progress.
  13. No way, part of the point of roleplay in a MMO is to find new people to interact with. That's part of the reason people actually RP in public. Is to have the unexpected interaction with someone we've never roleplayed with before. Besides, we shouldn't have to go play there and people want to roleplay charr, asura, sylvari and norn? That is a terrible suggestion. and unexpected interaction you got :)
  14. these mechanics are almost a necessity for games like this, keeps content relevant longer (no, neither like nor dislike that)
  15. As far as Controllers go, don't think them as button to button when comparing them to a keyboard. Most Console Games use button and trigger combinations, along with button taps or holds, so you could actually link each button with each keyboard key.--- Keys Playstation--- Keyboard 1) R2 --- #1 (Weapon Skill 1)2) Button 1‐-- # 2 (Weapon Skill 2)3) Button 2--- # 3 (Weapon Skill 3)4) Button 3--- # 4 (Weapon Skill 4)5) Button 4--- Space bar (Jump)6) L1 + 1 --- # 5 (Weapon Skill 5)7) L1 + 2 --- # 6 (Utility Skill 1)8) L1 + 3 --- # 7 (Utility Skill 2)9) L1 + 4 --- (Dodge)10) R1 + 1 --- # 8 (Utility Skill 3)11) R1 + 2 --- # 9 (Utility Skill 4)12) R1 + 3 --- # 10 (Utility Skill 5)13) R1 + 4 --- (Finish/ Revive)14) L2 +1 --- F1 (Prof. Skill 1)15) L2 +2--- F2 (Prof. Skill 2)16) L2+ 3 --- F3 (Prof. Skill 3)17) L2 + 4--- F4 (Prof. Skill 4)18) L2 + R2--- F5 (Prof. Skill 5)19) Dir 1--- Weapon Swap20) Dir 2 --- Items21) Dir 3 --- Emotes/ Communicate22) Dir 4 --- Change Camera Angle23) R3 --- Move24) L3 --- Camera/Press to target25) Option (Main Menu)26) Touchpad --- Tap for Map/ Hold for Mount Options great, main issue solved, the game can now ship on consoles tomorrow...
  16. Thank you for informing the business people at Anet/NCSoft about this... steam you speak of. I am sure they will be excited about this great opportunity and evaluate the possibilities, something they certainly did not consider before.
  17. to be fair, there had to be some amazing qualities to it if even New Blizzard needs so much time completely destroying it :)
  18. let me get this straight: So you claim the game features some kind of conspiratory algorithm that adjusts loot drops depending on the in-game wealth of players, is that correct?
  19. "petition" seems to become today's "think of the children!".
  20. Every voice talent I have worked with has their own home studio for recording. But outside corporate stuff, advertising etc., many artists prefer the real interaction and group dynamic, as voice acting is acting. Hard to say whether it is a real improvement or some "artiste" :) thing, but that is the way many voice actors and directors/producers prefer.
  21. also, this game really could use some Borg and Mandalorians... utter BS.
  22. In the meantime, we've had New World PvP (ie WvW like) gameplay footage drop, using the Amazon Lumberyard engine (ie CryEngine derivative backed up by billions upon billions upon billions of dollars) and guess what... the performance is looking absolutely atrocious. Janky as hell with heavy LoD scaling. And by heavy I'm not talking lowpoly, I'm talking the engine literally reducing animation frames from smooth (player) to 2-3 fps (players 20m away) because it can barely handle a dozen people on screen at once. So yeah... "strong engines". For sure. As trash as I think gw2 has become I think new world will be a big disappoint as well. Could be wrong tho.I had high expectations, but a last minute 180 on fundamental design decisions really is a red light.
  23. Wasn't funny wasn't interesting. Was a pointless rant so I gave you an F since you seemed to want to be graded now It's obviously over my head. You do you pal.that doesn't even make sense - what are you, some comedy bot in early alpha?
