DirectX 11 Graphics Issues

Recommended Posts

Saw some weird effect over the race markers today in lab, was like a blue glassy dome with sections in almost like someone had overlaid a translucent 3d model of a dome over the regular effect. Tried to recreate it for screenshots afterwards but it was back to normal so it might be a random one that appears like the texture glitches.

Also SAB glider still looks terrible in dx11. I saw you fixed the phoenix glider, please have my baby cloud in your next patch. 😞

Many elements missing when returning to the main map after replaying LW EP4S6 Decent.

Depending on the camera angle I different elements would pop in and out of existance. Couldn't open UIs (at least would not be shown - I could still hear the 'tick' when hovering above the map selection of the (invisible) WvW menu. Everything went back to normal after restarting the game.

Windows 10, nvidia 1080ti, windowless fullscreen.

I have not experienced this particular phenomenon, nor have I heard about it before. Interesting.

Are you playing on low settings? Are you using any add-ons?

I suggest you install software that allows you to control the GPU fans properly. Mine were definitely running on higher speeds when I had DX11 activated, which means the workload was higher, just as you described.

Already doing so. My temps just reaches 15 - 20c higher on my gpu as they reach on Dx9. Im always locked at 50% fan speed with Evga precision.

50% is obviously not enough for GW2's DX11 mode or you wouldn't have such a spike in temperature.

This is what my config looks like, for example:

I've begun noticing an issue that only seem to be in WvW for me: A kind of black screen frame skip. It's like running in 60 fps and the game inserts 1 black frame. It's on random and can go minutes between it happening. I cant see it in PvE for some reason.

Just wondering if anyone has seen the same or if I'm hallucinating, lol.

Nope...mount's 3rd dye slot is still turning red when I zone.

I have this, but also from time to time on certain dyable backpieces - just random red!
Usually this means a hard crash is coming - the game simply vanishes out of existence in a fraction of a second.

changing from windowed  fullscreen or fullscreen to windowed mode no longer works in DX11, basically whenever you try to resize the screen it just gives you a frozen image, the game is still active and you can move in the background but your view will never update until you press Alt+Enter to put it into fullscreen mode

Don't know if it's been reported yet, but...

Where: Aetherblade Fractal, the second laser grid (the one covering the entire floor) and/or the laser grid on Fritz boss

What: Total UI glitch-out, causing most things to suddenly not load (UI, effects, models, telegraphs, the works), what isn't loading seems to switch at random, but low-cost things like "on fire" appear to render more consistently than others

What Not: All skills, cooldowns, and movement controls work exactly as normal

Required Fix: Client restart (logout/in does not work)

Rig: Intel i7 4870K, 8GB DDR4 RAM, Radeon R290X

Huh, no crashes for me.  It's been rock-solid.  (Granted, I'm using WINE with dxvk to translate dx11.)

Possibly useful feedback on  the issue with all graphics and UI flickering/disappearing, it seems to happen around the same time as my camera interacts with certain ceilings in fractals, perhaps made worse by the lasers in aetherblade. I had a few moments where it seemed to start happening in the sirens reef maze so I zoomed my camera in a bit (usually it's at maximum range possible) and the haywire flickering of existence ceased.
