I mean they may have had some nerfs in the past but all i see is zoom zoom zoom invuln invuln block with high damage. its far more busted than harbinger or any other spec tbh.

I think this thread is a dead end. Willbender isn't any more broken than any other top build and that's just a fact. This is the kind of thread that's started when someone gets rolled by a given elite spec and decides to complain instead of changing how they play, sometimes your build or class just gets countered and there's nothing you can do. You have to learn to deal with it.

Anet solution to Stealth Mechanic.....design a Profession Specialist that laughs and dance at Stealth Mechanic and does it 2x times better than Thief Profession

(Willbender: Thief Profession + Warrior Profession + Guardian Profession = All In One)

So what happened here?

Where and in what situation do you mean?

What and where and against what?

What and where and against what?

Mind sharing details?

sure, I begin with stealth:

it is really fun fighting something like thief, that can jump you out of stealth, burst you and if there is any risk, restealth and port away.

It is also really fun to run around in a keep for half an hour hunting for stealthed up thieves.

And if you don't:

as soon as you leave the general area, they port the enemy in and flip your keep before you can react.

Incredible poor design.

But it could be easily fixed: no portals in wvw. Nothing of worth lost anyway. And stealth: either remove it. Or make it that you can't attack out of stealth and your mobility is none existant while in stealth.

Willbender, why are they so annoying? Decent damage, good mitigation, incredible mind blowing stupid mobility.

Harbinger: they fart in your general direction, you have a shitton of all condis on you, you can imagine. And of course they are pretty robust as well. Really a fun class to play against.

lol, I admit on most of my thieves I don't use stealth for that reason, which is why I like the DD, since it was a bruiser, before the nerfs. To fight them though needed to create builds to counter stealth and stack more reveal. So this is one of those that I say, choose your targets, know your counters and play your build. Know when you are paper, rock or scissors and choose your targets.

I admit I think we are missing an upgrade/tactic option here that could mark but not reveal a target within an objective. This would allow for both play and counter play and challenge current upgrades for BiS.

I don't think I agree here, removing tactics just removes complexity.

Your mileage will vary. I have faced some that are good and a lot that are bad across a number of builds. Still will stick with build one and play it to better understand its counters.

🙂 Harbi needs to both hit you and boost themselves. So you need to take that option out. I got confused looks when I said power core necro did well against them in the past. But try any power range on Harbi and don't let them apply both condi to you and buffs to themselves and the fight changes. Not a fan either when on a pure melee class, but that's on me if I try and engage while melee only.

Yea, this is WvW. Don't expect Anet to fix this anytime soon.

I would but I like a challenge 🤫 but eh after  almost 11 years I'm pretty use to the skill clicking even if it limits performance. ( Hammer slams, mace bops, and shouts in slow motion 😂)

lol, agree with Lan. Created WvW toon 33 to retest core War, which makes 4 War alts. 🙂 But I admit my fingers keep following the Berserkers sequence which resulted into way different results so will have practice that muscle memory lol. /waaagh to you!

Cool music tho.

🙂 3 decades ago my roommate in college had a film and music class, was a blast as we got to experiment in how 32MM film and music merged and impacted filmed scenes. How differing music impacted filmed scenes. Wasn't in the class but since we have diverse music tastes it lead to mixing our music to see how it impacted scenes and was a blast. While they presented seeing how it also impacted others at the presentation was a blast as well as informative. So +1 Anet when music matches mood in game play. So agree, music changes the mood.

I thought of something that could make Willbenders even more annoying in SotO, even excluding the longbow

Some particularly degenerate Willbenders (and sometimes Harbringers) will use speed runes due to ease of generating the swiftness boon.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_Speed

Currently the only notable thing about this rune is the final effect. It increases the effectiveness of swiftness which is only possible with a few select abilities. Also note that movement bonuses do not stack; it only takes the highest one.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Movement_Speed#Maximizing_movement_speed

In combat, regular swiftness is 133, speed rune swiftness is 166, and superspeed is 190. But superspeed is much less common than swiftness and guardians can't generate it at all.

However, the runeset has pretty bad stats, so that prevents it from being used more widely  This will change in SotO though, while runes are separated from their special effects. So you could pick any other rune stat you want (say all stat or durability stats) and then slap on the new Relic of Speed. If your character has high access to swiftness, then there's not much of a drawback.

So maybe we should save the conversation for next month when we run into some tanky willbenders and/or harbringers zipping across the map all the time and see what everyone feels.

edit: suppose i am not sure if you could keep perma swift without the swiftness duration; we'll just see.

edit2: So you know when the expansion comes out, why don't some of you do it for science?

I visited WvW few minutes ago; Guardian Profession-Willbender were one shotting players everywhere with other three clowns; Elementalist Profession, Thief Profession and Mesmer Profession. My advice to the Community; if you want our voice to be heard, if we want to command Respect; let it be known in the next expansion. Until than, good day.

You forgot all good one shotters ranger, thief, engineer, warrior, revenant. Necromancer is only weak one shotter in game. Time to nerf all elite spec, but not necro.

I wish all my opponents would be that bad, every day in wvw would become a party 🎉

Perhaps you could record your next losing fight with a Willbender so we can see what you do and give you some advice?

Are you using active defenses, dodges, mobility and range to mitigate the key damage skills? What is your build? What are you even playing?

GW2 has a lot of different specs and a fair number of them work as rock < paper < scissors to one another.

Some fights are an uphill struggle and the best you might do is to simply die slowly against an equally skilled player, some fights are much easier as your spec vs another.

For example, some fights I know I need to be aggressive from the start and continue the momentum. Some fights I need to feint an aggressive start then go defensive from their burst and then riposte and go back on the offensive after avoiding them. Some fights I need to be defensive right from the start before trying to counter once the opening burst threats are over.

Some I just can't beat them, but it's fun to try anyway, rather than complain on the forums. What's the joy in a game where everything is easy? If you want that just go play condi P/P Thief and win every 1v1 in a frustrating way.

If you're an Ele then Fresh Air and Cele can both wreck all Guardian specs, Scepter is your friend.

Scepter Weaver and trying cc while retreating and stab + jump + 2 big crits.. gg . they do that again again. last fight saw 3v1 and then 5v2 and the dmg is so fast and movement + stab un kite-able. you don't win vs them and the whole battlefield knows it.

First: with thieves, you do NOT choose the fight. They do. And only select classes have reveal - on worse cool downs than those stealth abusers. No counterplay. No 'choose your fights'. It is broken beyond believe.

About tactics: you need to upgrade a keep first for tactics. And before you can do that, the stealth abuser has already ported their friends in.

Again, your solution does not work.

In short:

stealth is broken and needs to be removed. It has no reason to exist in wvw nor in pvp. Its existance is nothing but the proof that the balance team has no clue at all.

Apart from thief mains and some other stealth users, it does nothing but LOWER the fun of people in wvw.

It's the game itself. And they're doubling down. Now each profession is getting yet another weapon. They don't have a skill balance team. They don't have a team that looks at mechanics. There is no forward planning.

They just add and add and add and things get worse with each expansion.

The only balancing they do is in pve where they scale boss health and damage up or down or maybe throw in some NPC only skills to spice things up. Why? Because the gameplay in the hands of players is so fundamentally flawed and bloated it's hopeless to try to balance that.
