But But But!!!!!! i collect those so i can ping my stacks to fell good .... why!

Not so much, this is more one of those that made sense to stack so that you had them when you needed them at the cost of inventory space. By not using them now you paid the price to burn bank space for when you needed or wanted to use them later. So again, why remove? Didn't see a reason for their removal while playing tonight so what was, what appears to be, the nerf for? -1 from me since lack of insight and/or its due to future changes that are hidden, but that still leaves a negative good will feel to the change. The negative goodwill could have easily been removed by some clue of why they were removed versus just seeming like one more nerf to the game mode. I will still assume it due to some future update, but right now, feels bad and has a negative influence.

This just forces those pve casual players to earn skirmish track reward in order to progress faster in the regular reward track, they said they sped up skirmish track so you will get these potions faster.

Like I said many times before, they should just increase overall regular reward track progress in eotm and let those players go there for their gift of battle. They even have an eotm weekly  now so they might as well go that direction and give eotm some purpose again.

Other than that.. /tosses another two gift of battles today into the 140 gift of battle junk pile in the bank. 😏

The worst part is with the dailies retool, they will probably be compelled to only select pve dailies since they can't specifically choose the easy WvW daily.  From what I can see, the pve dailies/weeklies are much easier like dodge 3 times, while the WvW ones are crap like escort a bunch of yaks. I'm not really surprised that it really sounds like they don't even wvw; though preaching to the choir here.

So that completely ruins the potion only option for GoB.

The EOTM weekly is so weird, and yea they might as well go all in with the reward track system if they're abandoning it like that. However, like many other abandoned systems.... it may take a while.

Especially with the wvw lead dev now gone... there's probably 0 devs working on wvw now.... 🤭 ..... 😟

Yeah haven't seen the EotM yet. It also sounds like they are no longer sync'd across players which would be odd but didn't test that one yesterday. The EotM would maybe make a little sense if they were but not if just some people get it. if the point was to see more activity in various spots and maps then it would make more sense to sync them.

All the PvP potions I've contributed towards a guild hall upgrade don't seem to count at all for the replacement shards of glory.  The contributed amount is now 0.

Needed a bit more for an unfinished upgrade and never got around to it.  Wish I used them on PvP reward tracks instead now.

I feel the same way, because I don't like PvP but was grinding thru it to upgrade the guild hall. Why didn't Anet just convert donated potions to whatever they replaced them with (like they did for Unique Coins.

They said

So my thought on the subject of  Potions of WvW Rewards and Potions of PvP Reward are no longer obtainable by players:

was that people should use their  remaining potions on the gift of battle, if they  think they'll need them and don't want to grind out the reward track, instead of just dumping them in some random track because otherwise they'll have to come back to wvw to grind it.

Are we done yet?

Yeah, but the question was about "thoughts about this change", not "if I have stack/s of potions, what should I use them for". I guess it was just misunderstanding of the question asked, thanks for explaining.

As for the question itself, I don't like this change, but I guess they did it so people can't quickly spam through new reward tracks on expansion release.

At least pip track was adjusted to compensate supposedly 10x more reward track progress than before. However, not being able to save reward track potions I have less incentive to go in. I'm so glad I picked PvE dailies with how much longer/out of the way it takes to do WvW dailies and weeklies (sanctum of losing your participation).

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.  Before this change, I imagine a decent number of PvE players would be in WvW doing dailies for the potions (and eventual GoB).  With this change, I suspect that will no longer happen.  It also seems like PvE players who would go to WvW for one of the easy dailies there will go away - at least a small number of those would become serious WvW players.  Basically, with these changes, it seems like there is no reason ever for PvE players to really show up in WvW anymore (GoB not withstanding, but the new requirements may just make people give up on that or something)

I'm no sure how that factors into populations for the different servers (how much those PvE players counted).  Or for that matter, metrics on how many players actually did WvW - I have to imagine that number is also going to drop - this could result in WvW looking to be hitting an even smaller portion of the overall player base than before, which could mean those non existent resources Anet spends on WvW become even more non existent.

Good post. I'm only speaking for myself. I am one of those PVE'ers that come to W vs W for dailies.

I did it for two reasons. Some of the dailies are easy, and it was kind of fun, especially flipping camps and the occasional tower capture.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought I was helping even if I didn't stay there long. If it stays the same, I may not be back. I don't care about GoB or even the potions, it was all about the dailies. Tell me, for the hardcore W vs W, will I be missed or is this a good thing. I honestly don't know.

Honestly, that's not too different from how I viewed the dailies. 2 wvw/1 pve or 1 wvw/2pve were standard for me. Usually either would have at least one daily I did not want to do, so being forced to pick only one really sucks. Or you pick both and get the worst of both worlds.

A little, depends on the person Some shortsighted people won't at all.. However, I know many players like you, and I know it makes the game  worse for them. And that will make the game worse in general if people like that stop supporting the game. It also hurts WvW because new players generally come through the dailies. Not many of them will stay, but few of them ended up being regulars.

And frankly, if the wvw weeklies are going to put a bunch of dumb stuff like EOTM/OS, then I too will do dailies in pve. Of course, I will still play WvW as my main game mode, since I don't need dailies, but if I find it annoying, I cannot imagine inflicting it on anyone else.

At this point, I don't need the gold anymore. However, I've spent the better half of a decade getting gold from dailes, so dismissing it as trivial when other players may still need it is not good. I'm simply not the type to dismiss issues just because it doesn't hit me.

On a more practical note, I know WvW is pretty low on the totem pole, and if this game should lose its support from its core of casual daily enjoyers, it will certainly not bode well for WvW. Currently, I see the game having trouble across all fronts and tbh I've never been as worried as I was since HoT release.

Looks to me like they really hate PvE'ers complaining about having to play WvW for their legendaries...

Must mean that GoB is in the Wizard's Vault... /s

You know they really could put both gift of battle and exploration in there. They surprised me with a few things available inside it already.

It isn't in this batch. Might never end up in there, but who knows.

As of now I'd think it is extremely unlikely. If they wanted those in there, they would just put them into the leg starter kit. Those 2 items are specifically left out of the kits.

The other thing I forgot, is that sometimes I'd hop in WvW for dailies and join the active zerg (if there was one), and that was generally an enjoyable experience.  Its gotten me to play more WvW.  But with this change, PvE players may just never have reason to hop in.

I chose WvW + PvE for dailies before the weekly reset, but after seeing what those came up with, have now switched to PvE only (though that doesn't seem great either), but it does mean I'll probably be spending less time in WvW than before, simply because there is no reason to go there for the dailies.

I usually split my time between OW and WvW. Having seen what people were getting for their WvW weeklies on here I'm glad I chose just PvE when I got home. I might switch to PvE/WvW for a day or 2 to check it out, but I will make sure to switch back to just PvE before the weekly reset.

This setup really is so much more limiting than the old choices were.
