Vision Achievement: Astral Weapons: Powdered Rose Quartz

Hi Guys

 

Farming 3000 Powdered Rose Quartz by sitting on telescope for 10 to 15 mins, then yielding very small amounts every 20 mins, it just soooo boring. Current TP prices are 9g for 250, so 100g for 3k of this is not worth either. Doing events, hearts, caches is a bit more interesting than sitting on a telescope waiting for a meteor to strike.

 

Maybe make the cost per Kralkatite ingot require less Powdered Rose Quartz? Or is 100g OR +- 20 quartz per 20 mins (assuming you get 5 markers on it) the intended Legendary Crafting long grinding mechanic meant for this particular achievement.

 

Its annoying and boring. 3k is just way too much. Anyway, im giving up on this particular achievement, got to 1.4k of it and refuse to use my gold for it, therefore no vision :(, maybe one day i'm rich and buying it wont feel so bad.

The requirements for Vision are a bit excessive, though I think the devs felt this was deserved since compared to Aurora there was far less difficult content to complete. Namely, Aurora was terrible with its requirement to do Chalice of Tears JP in Ember Bay, twice.

 

Anyway, I just mailed you the rest of what you needed in-game. I already have the home instance node, so I get stacks of it every few weeks.

Buy rose quartz from tp. Salvage it into powdered quartz. Problem solved.

As I was reading this, I was about to send you a pile of Rose Quartz to help you along. It's probably one of the more painful aspects of the collection requirements so I freely give away when I can. I think I am still slightly traumatized from completing it myself that I aim to help save others LOL 🙂 I am happy you got help from Hannelore.8153! That's so kind.

P.S. If you haven't done the Skyscale collections, grab 250 extra map currency while you are there to save the suffering later 😋

I think there's a kind of meteor that falls on a crater that you can exploit... Even after the rock disappears, if you spam the extraction beam, it will give you rose quartz and stuff.. u can spam on that spot for 10 mins until the next meteor... Form a squad.. if possible one guy on a different map instance and collect meteors from both instance with less than 10 mins interval... That's how I did it when I was farming it for the astral weapons... 

Any event, when you get a group of ppl doing it, you won't feel bored or monotonous

Would be very nice that meteor you can dig stay persist longer when nobody touched it. The dead map making it harder to spot and digging up quartz due to mobs keep poking you.

Just to put the cost of rose quartz in perspective originally is had a merchant sale price of 50s. This was changed because the meteors used to be a faster more profitable farm. As I recall Anet made a number of changes to reduce to profitability of the farm. One was to remove the min value of the rose quartz which caused a price crash.

 

What Im saying is it seems like its much cheaper now vs when Vision was a new item.

I used the daily HI node. I would supplement it with the BLT when I had more Kralkalite over the dust. Also, buying the rose quartz crystals and salvaging them can be cheaper. Pay close attention to both sources of the powder. When I was chewing on vision it was exclusively cheaper to do this. I wasn't in a rush, I chewed on Vision gradually over the course of a yearish.

And this is basically why I started playing gw2. Anet somehow have attracted the few angels in gaming to this game (not everyone who plays it is an angel, it has toxic pockets, but it's better than anywhere else I've been).

EDIT: The confused reactions are funny. Has no one else been randomly helped by players in this game XD? My personal experience was being personally escorted through the entire Ember Bay JP by some friendly mesmer as a complete noob. I literally stopped and asked myself "what's wrong with these people? I like it!" I felt like such a drag, as they were often backtracking to port me through more difficult parts because I hadn't maxed out gliding yet.

It is definitely one of the big collections people were expecting to need to complete Vision. However, not counting the ascended versions is still ridiculous. The effort to make the exotic versus the ascended skins were the same.

Eternal ice shards are way easier, especially if you don't mind strikes. The conversion on them to S4 currencies I'm certain was intended as a catch-up mechanic

I  never really saw the rose quartz as something that was blocking when making Vision about a year ago. The mystic coins you need is wayyy more gold. If you get the home instance node and farm it daily while working towards visions (which takes most people a few months atleast) you will have quite a bit of the quartz. Its a legendary so its going to be quite expensive, the rose quartz is just a drop in the bucket of the price though.

As a guy who actually has a character named New Player Helper, I agree 100%.  There are times I've come to a zone to talk to new people and help out and moved to another zone because people were already actively doing it in that zone. I've not often seen that in MMOs but it's pretty normal here.

or just park a character at the waterfall with 2 essence chest and 1 norn chest

it just depends on how/what you do

 

I am in no hurry so I've been passively getting stuff through home instance nodes. With that method I end up selling multiple stacks of powdered quartz before I have enough kralkatite ore to make a weapon
