They did clearly announce earlier than would've typically been expected, but honestly, if they hadn't announced the expansion early, it would've been a PR nightmare for them. The end of Icebrood had people angry enough as it is; if it hadn't been clear that it was because they had pulled most of the Living World team to work on an expansion, people would've really lost their **** over it.

Yes, but that is concept art. Note *Concept* and *art*. There still has been nothing shown of what the expansion actually has in it, which is what I was referencing when saying *contents*.

 

Look I realize I'm historically critical towards things GW2 and ANet related, but have we really gotten to the point where the "ever optimistic" are going to consider concept art as a part of a games actual playable content *just* so they can be contrary? Granted I guess it makes sense...ANet does *seem* to consider gem store cosmetic releases as "content updates".

Concept art or not...that's still an update about EoD, he asked for updates about EoD, not what's in EoD.

After LS2 and before HoT, there was a content drought (not even updates) for almost an entire year, and although PoF was announced and released immediately after LS3, it concluded in late summer, while IBS ended much earlier in the year due to being rushed.

 

IBS was supposed to run as long as LS2-3-4 but was partly cancelled.

 

The expansion is likely on schedule for the usual fall preview-beta-release we got for the other expansions, thereabouts.

They don't release anything that has a potential to contain bugs in it in December, because the whole studio goes on winter holidays in that time (and they mostly come back only after new year). So, an already-tested wintersday event is okay, but anything new is generally getting delayed until January.
