  1. On the dusk/dawn thing, they really just need to reverse how it works. Instead of if being a time window where all fish can be caught, make it a window where only the dawn/dusk fish can be caught. Bam, fixed. The short window still retains some of the difficulty, but at least the dawn/dusk fish won't be competing with the entire loot table.
  2. The actual fish having some wider utility seems like an obvious one. To the best of my knowledge, the only cooking recipes that use fish are for foods that only serve to improve your fishing ability. So you catch fish to make food to improve your fishing so that you can catch more fish to make more fishing food. There is such a thing as *too* closed a system.
  3. I'm left-handed, so: Movement on Arrow keys Hotbar has 1 on mouse, and 2-10 are \, Del, End, Pg Down, Numpad 7, 4, 1, 0, and Home Class Mechanic skills are Numpad Num Lock, /, *, -, and + Jump is Right Ctrl, weapon swap is Pg Up, walk/run is Num Pad Del, Interact is Num Pad 5, mount is Num Pad 2, and that context-specific ability is Num Pad 3. Menu hotkeys are unchanged.
  4. At the very least, I do think it's time for them to make Season 2 free. Like S1, it (technically) doesn't add new zones, so it gives players less for their money than the subsequent seasons, and making it free would give new players a smoother ride up to the first full expansion.
  5. That's about where I'm at. Thought about grabbing the Astral Ward set just to have it, saw the 3k research notes for the whole set, and immediately noped out.
  6. There are a couple things that could be interpreted as laying the groundwork for playable tengu in the future. In EoD, they introduced new tengu models, which I believe (and iirc, someone confirmed this through datamining) are constructed like player character models. Meaning, the models are naked and designed so armor pieces can attach to them, rather than having their armor and clothing baked into the base model, as is usually the case with NPC models. In SotO, take a look at the Astral Ward NPCs. While there are specific named NPCs of other races, as best as I can tell, the generic, nameless Astral Ward are exclusively the five player races, and tengu. Definitive proof, it's not. But it is enough that I can't completely dismiss the idea of it happening in the future.
  7. They really do need to make more zones like this that aren't active war zones. Makes for a nice change of pace.
  8. Well, it means the next expansion won't be about Elder Dragons, but we're almost certainly going to see the usual cast return and a continuation of their stories, as well as that of our character, so you couldn't quite call that a completely standalone story.
  9. Well, mounts and abilities definitively won't happen. This is an MMO, not a single player game. Visual things are *conceivably* possible, although it would be something that you would only be able to see on your end, not anything that other players would be able to see.
  10. All other things aside, the news that we're going to start seeing postprocessing split out into its component parts a bit is great to hear.
  11. I'm on the 'new race' bandwagon, so I'll open with that. Tengu would be the obvious choice, but both kodan and largos would also be cool. Even if new races aren't in the cards, I would still like to see an expansion that isn't narratively focused on humans. I've seen requests in the past for an expansion focused on the gods, but after back-to-back expansions about rediscovering the human kingdoms of Elona and Cantha, I'd like to see something focused on other races before doing another human story. Asura-focused depths of Tyria, visiting the charr Ash or Blood legion lands, something like that. Housing could potentially be cool, and is just about the last large, major feature that's conspicuous in its absence. Mostly depends on if they can come up with something more to it than just being a place to decorate. If we get a new batch of elite specs, then I want necros to get a mechanist-style pet-focused spec. 'Commanding the undead' is a fairly core concept for necromancers, and an elite spec focused on it feels like a no-brainer. Oh yeah, and we don't need a fourth Eye of the North. Skip that.
  12. That would be incredibly useful. Especially as the high-contrast mouse cursor options aren't as useable as one could hope for.
  13. It's weird, there are a bunch of zones like that, where the way you get *to* the zone remains after doing the story, but there's no way to get *back* from the zone afterwards (aside from fast travel). Istan, Siren's Cove, Crystal Oasis, Ember Bay (kinda), I think Draconis Mons. Lake Doric has a zone line with Harathi Hinterlands that seems to only go one-way (this time going out of Doric). It'd be nice to see them become round trips.
  14. A shapeshifting-based class is the one that first jumps out to me--a wildshape druid or something similar.
  15. Well, Season 1 should be wrapping up in November, if the pattern holds. If (emphasis on 'if') they go immediately into Season 6, with no gaps, then it should be starting as soon as January. We'll know for sure with the next quarterly update.
  16. If they're going to do it (and I hope they do someday), then I want them to do it right, and actually add a zone (or more likely two, based on the distance) running between Fields of Ruin and Desert Highlands. Ideally something to consider in future LW seasons. But yeah, I'd love to see them work towards getting the game world connected to itself at some point.
  17. Just did the same thing a couple weeks ago, and yes, copy and paste works just fine. Just remember to make a new desktop shortcut once you've moved it over.
  18. You'll get some unique dialogue, and you'll find your sparring partner in Drizzlewood to catch up with, but that's mostly it. Oh yeah, and there is a rare, charr-only helm that you can get in Grothmar, but that's not tied to the story itself, just something you can loot.
  19. I'd like to see the Dominion of Winds with playable tengu. And I feel like there's been just enough references to DoW in Icebrood and EoD for it to feel like foreshadowing for at least the setting, so I'm cautiously optimistic. More broadly, I just don't want a human-centric expansion--PoF and EoD are good enough for that. If an entirely new playable race isn't in the cards, then let's do something focused on one of the other races--the Far Shiverpeaks, the Depths of Tyria, the Blood or Ash Legion lands, Malyk's Tree. Any of those will work.
  20. More of an art issue than a QoL issue, but it's not really big enough to warrant its own thread, so eh, I'm putting it here. The Diviner Helm, part of the WvW light armor set. I really like this hood; one of the few hoods that actually looks good on Charr. The problem with it is that, for some reason, it has shoulder armor built into the model. Not only do I not particularly want that shoulder armor, but because it's there, you're not allowed to have your actual shoulder armor visible on your character. Is there any way we could remove that extra shoulder piece from the hood? Or failing that, at least make it so we can choose to have our shoulder armor visible over it, and just let players deal with the potential clipping as they see fit?
  21. Mostly PvE, although I jump into WvW once in a blue moon. Currently working on an Aurene legendary (which will be followed up by going after one of the variants), which means the current typical play session is grabbing jade rune stones for the variant, and then hitting Dragon's End for a summoning stone. Happily, I'm on my last summoning stone, so I'll get to mix things up after the next play session.
  22. After seeing them bring it up for a Guardian(?) skill in discussions of the last patch, make it so that all skills that currently lock you in place (hundred blades, meteor shower, etc) instead allow you to move at half speed while channeling them.
  23. Yeah, not a lot of niches left that feel like they would have a substantial reason for being. The idea of something like a burrowing mount in a hypothetical Depths of Tyria expansion has legs, I think, but everything else just feels like it would just be a subtle variation on something we already have.
  24. When I saw this post, I had even odds on whether it was going to be "den of iniquity" or "I'm going on a trip!" Wouldn't mind if either or both were a touch less chatty.
  25. Well that, at least, is mostly no longer a thing since... I want to say the Bjora Marches part 2 patch. I mean, they don't trigger on castle walls in WvW, but other than that, just about anything damageable will trigger a mark now.
