  1. And ? I fail to see how does this counter any argument I ve previously said No my logic is that kit should act as a weapon switch IF the user wants to. If the user wants to play with the weapon and 0 kit it should be able to do so. Having trash weapon because kits exist is like saying Elementalist skill should all be weak because on a single weapon it has 20 different skill.
  2. Specter can do Healing Alacrity Condi and Stealth Tempest can do Heal Alac Condi Firebrand can do Heal Quickness Condi and previously Power Herald can do Heal Quickness Power Mechanist isnt the only spec that can serve multiple purpose shocking I know
  3. If you dont mind the small DPS loss then yes it was viable. Even more viable in any PvP content as it offers range as well I know well enough how core Engineer works. But because we've been using kits as a main weapon doesnt invalidate how unhealthy it is for a class to have : 1 - low amount of equipable weapon 2 - garbage weapon that only serve as stat stick Engineer weapon should be on par with kit when it comes to power damage. I've seen people advocate for kit removal and replacing them with something else which is wrong. But I've also seen people claiming you should play kit in every single build which is also wrong. Kit should be a utility and not a mandatory skill.
  4. It is not like Engineer has a big choice of weapon. And all of these variant except heal could run rifle without loosing too much damage in return. Rifle was a decent alternative if one wanted. But now ? there is literaly 0 reason to run rifle. For PvE its just a worse option and unfun although if you really want you can still run it. But for PvP and WvW ? it is straight up just trash. The damage is even lower than hipshot and hipshot wasnt even good to begin with. And after all these hours invested into the class you are still unable to understand how bad core Engineer weapon is and why it is unhealthy... Well that tells a lot
  5. With Engineer so far kits are the main weapon and the main weapon is a stat stick that boost kit. Rifle reworked offered the Engineer and actual GOOD and FUN weapon as a main weapon while kit are secondary weapon like they should do. I know it is hard for non engineer player to understand and even imagine that Engineer weapon can actually be used as a weapon
  6. Ok and ? How does that answer the issue that literaly all core engineer weapon are trash ? Engineer has 3 weapon and 2 of them are trash one is a good defensive off hand weapon. Kits are and should not be the reason why core weapon are trash.
  7. That is the worse argument I've seen to justify why a core weapon should be trash when played on a non core spec. But hey, why not apply that concept to all class so that Firebrand is only good with an axe, Dragonhunter is only good with a longbow, Druid is only good with a staff. Screw core weapon and weapon diversity, weapon spec or nothing
  8. The mech doesnt just teleport to the player because it is asked to do so. OP has been talking about how clunky and non responsive Mechanist is and your answer to that is "hurr just use Shift signet". What you're saying is not "truth and accuracy" it is just complete denial of the actual issue that pet AI . Immune in PvE only, which is why I also mentioned PvE in my statement. OP isnt entirely wrong when he says we cannot control the mech when its CC in PvP or WvW. But at this point playing Mechanist in any form of PvP content is just griefing your team. If by effective you means dealing garbage damage then yes it will sure be effective. Having to play around a mechanic that is out of your control is not a great game design and if you think it's good then I sure want to see you play Mesmer but your phantasm deal no damage if you dont hug them at a range of 360. Right now no other class in the game has to pay attention to its pet positioning while keeping an eye on its own positioning and dodge or do mechanic just to do DPS or support. And before some funny guy mention Ranger, you can play Ranger without the pet with minimal damage penalty. You do not play Mechanist without the mech unless you're griefing your team.
  9. HAM is so OP that both player and Anet failed to realize THIS is what support should be aiming for. HAM is so OP that if you want to perform well on that you actually have to use your skill reactively rather than spamming them on CD. Support should not be the current spam X to gain Y.
  10. Ah yes so I should use the signet to bandaid the poor and cluncky AI. If you're unable to see how dumb this argument is I dont know what to tell So is ranger pet in PvE as well. In what ? In PvE played by Ranger or Engineer player ? Yeah because they will pay attention to the mech positioning. But for the rest of the player who play Mechanist because everyone says its easy, they're going to get punished for not paying attention to where their mech stands. In SPvP and WvW mech was already super trash this patch just dig the hole deeper so the coffin will slam harder on the ground.
  11. And anyone who still think Mechanist needed the nerf or DPS nerf are irrelevant are also delusional. No where did I say Mechanist is going to be removed. But what I did say is managing mech and player positioning to maintain your damage IS HARDER than managing your own CD. Why ? Because CD is just a number that is affected by chill and alacrity. Mech positioning is determined by terrain, pathfinding, enemy positioning and in the case of gun arms mech, its max range. And everyone knows how non responsive and lacking GW2 pet AI is. So yes people who are used to play Engineer and to an extent Ranger will easily get used to that, but the vast majority of people who only play Mechanist because everyone in the forum says you press 1 and delete the entire game will get punished for poor mech management and their damage will drop. For OW like what OP is asking yes it is irrelevant. I can play clerical and solo bosses if I'm not restricted by time. But for any sort of group content, if the poor mech management lower the already low damage Pmech is doing, then it will just never be accepted in any PvE group content. Why would I accept a Pmech that is doing less or the same amount of damage as a support but doesnt bring anything to the table ? Why would I accept a Pmech in my group when I could accept idk a QuickDPS Scrapper that does the same amount of damage and bring quickness to the team ? Because funny enough, you would think PUG would accept anyone but in reality the entry barrier with PUG is more strict than guild runs.
  12. Pretty much anything goes in OW which is why it is dumb to balance around that gamemode. I can play clerical double pistol thief and get away with it. In group content you will stack with the team for the boon in which case it is going to be melee pretty much 100% of the time. And if you play Mech in PvP or WvW.....well do your best being useful at something I guess.
  13. Recommending Mechanist to someone who cannot handle CD is like recommending a manual gear shift car to someone who only has 1 functioning leg. After tomorrow's nerf, if you dont want your mech to be doing basically nothing, you'll have to manage its positioning AND your positioning, which is arguably harder than managing CD. To answer OP, you can go for condi Scourge or condi Mirage. Both are pretty braindead to play : the former doesnt exactly need to dodge because it generate so much barrier while the other spend its time dodging that you basically never get hit.
  14. Just to be sure, are we talking about PvP content ? I genuinely doubt giving distortion to Virtuoso would drastically change anything in PvE However in any PvP content, having more invul is definitely a strenght
  15. At what point do we think LI are not overperforming and not underperforming ? Because let's be real for a moment, if they even lower damage than support build, then people will never accept them in group. Why would I pick a Pmech that would deal 28k when I can play Alac Mech or Quickness Scrapper that deals around the same number but also provide boons ? What players and Anet conveniently ignore is that if a spec is overperforming, it will see uses. If it is good, it will see uses. But if it doesnt provide more DPS as a DPS than a support then it's pretty much dead on arrival. And if Anet expect people to keep playing PMech after they keep nerfing it, then they are dead wrong. Yes there will still be people playing it, just like there are people playing Elementalist or Warrior in PvE despite all the people claiming it's a dead class, but unlike Elementalist or Warrior, they'll be kick from the group because they dont bring anything more than what a support can. Despite what every Engi haters that always complain about mech says, Pmech right now is fine. The DPS is just above support but it gets outDPS by pretty much any spec that requires more than 2 button press. If Anet wants more LI build to be viable they should make them more or less identical to the current performance of Pmech. Also funny enough, support Mech is what all support should be aiming for. You use skill for their effect and not for their side effect because it is used with X or Y trait. But instead people look at Mechanist and goes "if Mech doesnt need to spam X on CD to provide the buff like Specter has to do with its well, then it deserve to be nerfed". In reality they should be asking for Specter to be like Mechanist. But oh well, cant exactly have a proper discussion with blinded with their biases.
  16. One day Anet will allow the pet to shoot and move copium
  17. Yes nerf Mechanist even more because its not already trash enough for any form of PvP content and in PvE, condi Mechanist is the only good condi build Engineer has that is able to compete against other build like Untamed Bladesworn Virtuoso and such. I've already switched back to Holo again because not only it can do PMech job but better but it is also more fun to play. And with the upcoming Holo buff, PMech is just going to be a low damage low intensity build that will serve as a noob friendly entry for people wanting to play Engineer.
  18. Part of me think the cryo theme would have been a good introduction in the Icebrooth saga IF Anet made it a complete DLC. It will heavily depends on what next expansion theme Anet will focus on. Unless we return to a ice theme place, a cryo spec is less likely to happens, which is a shame honestly. Engineer has a certain affinity with fire so having an ice spec would have been an interesting concept.
  19. After the nerf, if you're not playing PvE, rifle WILL just be a stat stick, or at least a secondary/tertiary weapon. The auto attack being not worth using. How many non mechanist player use rifle on Engineer ? Scrapper hammer is just better, Holosmith sword is just better, power core Engineer has no choice but to run rifle but even then, it will mostly camp kit. What Anet is doing is one for the patch is one big step forward in buffing holo but 2 medium step backward in nerfing rifle and mech. In other word we're back to were we started but with a different flavor this time. Actually if you play core Engineer you are arguably in a worse state because previously you could use rifle auto attack as a good filler in between your CD, now you are better camping whatever kit you're using.
  20. Mesmer is trash btw. Worst SPvP class in the game since forever btw. Stealth is fine btw.
  21. There is still that one guy who keeps dying to an AFK Mechanist player in SPvP so you can expect more nerf. As long as Mechanist can do a single thing, people will keep asking for nerf.
  22. I mean the alternative is to replace the grenade kit for whatever you want but you lose that 2k extra dps for whatever you're bringing.
  23. I was pretty annoyed when Anet gave a free stack of map currency for completing the "Return to ..." achievement. I mean it's good for new and returning player but as someone who had to farm them I was a bit salty. So yeah, getting the skyscale is easier and arguably less time consuming now
  24. If that's the case then can we bump Engineer rifle to 1500 range or better, nerf Ranger longbow to 1200. It makes no sense to have pretty much all 2 handed ranged weapon to be 1200 except for Ranger longbow to be 1500 baseline. Once again, Anet is just looking at a detail instead of the whole picture.
  25. Personnally I would rather have a ranged weapon than another melee weapon so my pick would be Staff or Longbow or hell a proper condition weapon with shortbow (although it will kind of feel P2W considering the only condition weapon engi has is pistol and well it is underwhelming) . But honestly as long as they give it some range, any weapon will go.
