  1. I dont really care that much about having -1 on hit/on crit effect, it's more about the damage being scuffed. I see literaly 0 reason why Engineer rifle should get a damage nerf in PvP/WvW when it's not even overperforming. Rifle AA right now is worth using as a filler or just to poke at someone. Right now you can play Engineer rifle with kits. After the change, you will be playing Engineer kit with a stat stick also known as a rifle. If they are dead set on removing the extra bullet before the grenade, then buff the coefficient of the bullet and the grenade.
  2. No how it should be is Holosmith being buffed, not the current Mechanist being nerfed. The current Mechanist does not outDPS any piano rotation people are so proud to play. Further nerf is not needed and while I dont consider the upcoming nerf to be too much of an issue for PvE, I dont want to imagine the few remaining Mechanist playing SPvP or WvW. At this point they might as well just play core Engineer because Mechanist is straight up garbage
  3. Core engineer weapon were always lackluster both in quality but also in quantity. Rifle got a rework, it became competitive and all we needed now was a rework of pistol(both hand). But what do we get instead ? Another unecessary rifle nerf. PvE isnt going to suffer much from the change but SPvP and WvW ? I suppose it's back to default placeholder for power weapon. Anet seems to hate kits and wants people to use more Engineer weapon but then they kill all potential core weapon. Nerfing the auto attack isnt a big deal some may say, but if it isnt even worth using the auto attack as a filler then something is wrong. And yes I hear you the guy at the back screaming Holosmith sword, Mechanist mace and Scrapper hammer are good but the issue isnt that these weapons are good, it's that core weapon are just bad - garbage. After the patch Scrapper is going to run Hammer by default, Holosmith is going to run sword by default. Oh yeah I forgot Mechanist exist in any form of PvP content, I'm sorry, they're just so garbage it's easy to forget them, yeah sure they'll run a scuffed rifle along with their scuffed spec. But man I wouldnt want to be a core Engineer now in SPvP or WvW where my weapon would just serve as a stat stick and occasionnally using 1-2 skill. In the end, as far as PvP and WvW is concerned we're going back to square 1. Either pick a spec so you can use the spec weapon or use core weapon as a stat stick and camp kit. It's probably just a matter of time before Anet nerf even more rifle to a point mace for Mechanist is going to be the default weapon for PvE.
  4. Anet is trying to please the people who are only looking to completely kill Mechanist and Engineer. It is a miracle Anet remembered Holosmith existed
  5. We'll have to see. PBM is a double edged sword, you should be doing overall more burst damage but at the same time if you mess up you die. I do want to see PBM back in the meta for Holosmith along side ESCU
  6. OP doesnt play PvE. He has ascended to the higher people of PvP and WvW, why should he care about PvE plebs
  7. Engineer has invented the scapegoat for every single possible issue GW2 has which is quite honestly a pretty big achievement. Using this single sentence : "Nerf mechanist", you will put everyone and even your enemies on the same page. And the best of all, it is super easy to use. Here's an example: someone ask Anet to add more boonstrip into the game, especially in some gamemode where boss can get perma protection. By typing "Nerf Mechanist" not only will you add nothing to the discussion but you will be supported by every non engineer player lacking a functional brain. Another more practical example. Anet releases a balance patch and there is a heated discussion amongs players. No one seems to agree and its about to turn into some insult. By typing "Nerf Mechanist" you will be able to make everyone agree and stop the argument. You didnt bring anything to the discussion, you didnt bring an alternative or better solution to the problem (or the non problem) but these simple word carries out so much power it is able to calm everyone. There is just a little bit of side effect : everyone with a functioning brain will just think you're troll or a hater or worse.....an idiot. BUT dont worry, Engineers have thought of that and managed to reduces the side effect by inventing another thing called "Mechanist lover". This complex and yet simple sentence allows you to completely shut down the side effect with 0 logical argument. Truly a class of inventor
  8. PBM was only used on rifle mech while ESC was used for S/P and as far as I know, PBM died a while ago and only recently ESC S/P rose from the dead.
  9. My main complain about rifle nerf is in PvP/WvW. The rifle wasnt even an OP weapon or anything, especially in WvW with all the projectile block/reflect. I dont necessarily agree with nerfing rifle in PvE but the change in coefficient wont really affect it too much, however this is a big nerf for PvP and WvW. But I suppose Anet would rather listen to the one player who still get dumped by a rifle Mechanist in WvW rather than look at the big picture
  10. -nerfing Specter in PvE when it's straight up not needed -failing to understand why some spec has harsher tradeoff than other (Vindicator getting back its second dodge while being unchanged) -Trying to make Scrapper well ground targetted when the entire concept of the spec is a relatively weaker well than other but mobile. It is too early to make an opinion but so far I dont see the difference between the former team and the new team. Both of them completey mess up some things and both of them manages to offer some interesting changes
  11. Overall I'm happy with the Holosmith change, not as much for the rifle nerf. It wont change much in PvE but for PvP and especially WvW, this doesnt make sense. Unless you consider Ranger longbow and Deadeye rifle to be OP Engineer rifle damage is fine and dont need a nerf. The change for Mechanist is a bit whatever
  12. Which is already what you do anyway, especially in group content. The people claiming they camp at max range away from their Mech are just straight up lying or playing poorly.
  13. Yeah idk. If we're talking about open world content then pretty much all class can solo champions or legendaries. I've been using S/S Mirage with trailblazer and it just kills everything and never dies.
  14. Sometime the limit between memes and reality is so non existant both of them coexist at the same time
  15. Mech has never been tanky in WvW. Not saying you cannot take camp but the scout and guard hitting you mech could easily kill it. You have to take them slowly in a small pack and not everyone at once
  16. Old rifle 5 had a good animation but for someone like me who plays with garbage ping, this skill was simply useless if not used at melee range on a target having the same height. Now the skill works as intended regardless of the range and height so no, I dont want any changes.
  17. Coming from OP who thinks Elementalist is trash in PvP when it's one of the top tier pick it doesnt even surprise me he isnt able to figure out how trash Mechanist is when you start using projectile block/reflect.
  18. If you die to mech in WvW then this is a skill issue not the spec being OP. If you want a braindead build you play rifle Deadeye, spam 2 with rifle + sneak attack on rifle.
  19. I'm not biased that's just fact. If I want to play something that doesnt requires my full concentration while still giving me result, I just pick a condi build and add some toughness or vitality and I'm good to go. The only place where playing condi is less effective is in zerg which I never do anyway because pepega internet. But for small skirmishes and roaming, condition is just too good.
  20. Stealth is broken which is why I didnt take into account anything that involve stealth. But the fact condi doesnt break stealth just add salt to the injury. Condition weapon have garbage coefficient on their attack. Things like Engi pistol, Mesmer and Necro scepter are good example. Condition dont always spike damage like power but they dont have to, because in a fight, condition can just apply constant pressure forcing you to dodge or dispel. And if you're running zerk, you're paper which means even a pistol engi can potentially hurt you with its strike damage despite having low power. Condi build tend to add vitality and toughness to their gear so they can survive while letting conditions play the game for them but should you decide to invest into Viper or Sinister instead, you're most likely as paper as zerk but what you lack in raw damage you make it up with deadly condition as well. Debilitating one helps kills your opponent but its rarely the reason why you die. You die because the opponent apply more condition than your ability to dispel. And honestly even condi cleanse are at time unreliable. I've stopped counting the number of death I had because instead of cleansing the 6 stack of burn I had that lasted for 6 sec, the game decided to cleanse the 1 stack of bleeding with 1 that lasted 1 sec. Or that time when the game decided cleansing 1 stack of vulnerability and cripple is more important than the 5 stack of torment and confusion. Putting aside Thief and some Mesmer, fighting against power build is more fun if you know what attack/chain you can expect. You can dodge the important attack and endure the smaller one. But in condi fight, the small attack just stack up and ends up being as deadly as the important attack .
  21. It is more about Anet buffing the crap out of condition than anything. Before 2015, boss used to have a limit cap on condition (25 if memories serve) and whoever apply first gets to deal the dot. But before 2015 condition like burning and poison couldnt be stacked which didnt helped some class like guardian. Also expertise didnt exist . Fast forward today, new condition have been added, caps on condition removed and expertise has been added on top of that. Through out the year Anet kept buffing and buffing condition to a point it's pretty much disgusting today. And the fact condition only needs 2 stats to work vs 3 for power build is already a big strenght. For PvE it's whatever but for PvP/WvW condition has a lot of thing going for it: -Condition doesnt break stealth which is a mistake. Gotta love applying torment + confusion and then stealth and letting the condition play for me. -Condition is much flexible. Only needing 2/4 stats lets you diversify your build without loosing damage. I sure which power damage wouldnt loose damage when it tries to have toughness and/or vitality. -Resistance is much less common than protection. So yeah people will say "but in zerg people have a lot of cleanse" which isnt false yes. But if it takes a zerg to be efficient when it comes to condi cleanse, it just highlight even more how stupid condition is small skirmishes. Also this is just me but what GW2 calls DoT is NOT DoT. It is just berserk burst with extra steps. If I apply 1 stack of burning followed by 10 stack in 2 sec, it should be ticking 1 stack of burning for the first second then instantly 10 stack the next second.
  22. Not being top tier doesnt mean trash. Ele still has some solid build even if it's not "meta". Some build could definitely receive some buffs but if the reasoning is not meta = trash then I'm sorry to say there's barely 3 spec not trash.
