  1. I love it too and look forward to getting it. Did you see the Fishing Hat and Fishing Vest from the tournament organizer in the same area? WANT!
  2. OK, after spending more time fishing in-game, I find it's not hard and I like the collection aspect, just don't like having to stare at that bouncing bar. Also, it would seem intuitive to have bait shops in places that make sense -- around the docks, with the other merchants, not some random heart guy off by himself.
  3. My only beef is that I have to stare at that bouncing bar instead of the actual fish or line or bobber. And my arthritic claws would like mouse control, please.
  4. So far this is my issue. If I'm fishing, I want to be looking at the fish/my line/the splashes, not a bouncing bar. That's not fun.
  5. OK, thanks. When I tried to preview them a couple of hours ago I got a blank screen. Will try again. Edit: Works now. There are 6 new rare dyes, and the 7 commons and 12 uncommons are old ones. The usual for a new dye kit. So, question answered, thanks.
  6. It's literally called <REDACTED> and I get that's an error that will be fixed, but is it all new? Old dyes? What are the actual dyes? I'm thinking of getting the new Supply Drop but not when I don't know what one of the items is. thx
  7. OK, after playing for 2-1/2 hours, I have to tear myself away. Don't want to get a headache (common problem of mine when playing any video game too much) and don't want to rush through all the beautiful content too fast. Loved the first story chapter! My first fishing venture was.... frustrating ... and I hope it improves with mastery. Had hoped for all new stuff in the Black Lion chests but oh well, gems saved., for now. Thanks for an overall fun beginning, ANet!
  8. As an older person, I can venture a few reasons for your parents' change in gaming, although of course it's none of my business what you and your folks play/enjoy. Physical issues -- dexterity and vision are the two biggies. I have arthritis in my hands and sometimes using a keyboard or controller hurts like heck, although helpfully getting immersed in a game helps me forget about the aches. I can't see as well as I used to and will need cataract surgery in a year or two. Tablet games are easier on my eyes but I don't love them as much. (Maybe your folks would like The Room series? Excellent puzzles and exploration.) Happy gaming to all.
  9. I think picking a time for a game release is like having a baby -- there is no perfect time. Game releases are like permanent whitewater, in a good way. End of Dragons, Elden Ring, other games.... what a great time to be alive and playing.
  10. I love this! I hope both your kids always play games with you, no matter how old you all get. It's much more likely than your daughter buying a house next door. 🤣 I remember eons ago, our younger son thought our new minivan (groan) was just the coolest thing ever and swore he'd buy one just like it when he grew up. Um, that did not happen. But we do discuss new games all the time!
  11. Yes, I AM childish! Playing games and being occasionally childish keeps me young (I'm a grandmother). I preordered for several reasons: at the time it was announced, I had the money to spare, not always a given in these pandemic times. Mostly, I have loved GW2, HoT, and PoF, so I felt pretty confident that I'd like EoD. And apparently it's all right if someone else -- who hasn't waited 'til the game has come out and has played it either -- points out problems? Too funny.
  12. OK, I get you now. I do think (my opinion only) that "attacked" is not the right word here. True, I was imitating the other thread with the similar title, but not in a malicious way. There's an old joke that the internet is in dire need of a sarcasm font, and this is so true. My point was that I too am a longtime player of GW and GW2 and I'm really happy about and looking forward to EoD. Some posts are negative with constructive criticism but most I've seen are negative without being constructive. I understand wanting to rant about a game one doesn't like. Cheers.
  13. I am not attacking anyone. I'm glad I preordered and am really looking forward to the expac. I don't think "attack" means what you seem to think it means. Peace, love, and happy gaming!
  14. Thanks for saying you hope I enjoy the game; I'm sure I will (solo exploration of maps is always my fave thing with new expacs). I don't expect perfection, but do expect many, many hours of fun. You are right to not buy it if it's not what you want. No confused emoji from me!
  15. Playing with your kids = awesome. How I miss that. Mine are grown now and usually too busy to game with Mom, or our schedules are just too different. Have fun fun fun!
  16. So many naysayers and downers here. I've been playing GW since the first days of the first game, and I love it. I preordered EoD as soon as I could and I'm PROUD of it. Am really looking forward to next Monday. What to do first? Elite specs, new maps, new story, new skins, fishing, siege turtle, Jade Bot, new legendary, soak in the awesome new soundtrack. Thanks, devs!
  17. LOVE the Kintsugi mount skins but we only have two so far. Please complete the set for EoD, thank you very much!
  18. I think there will be both -- cool stuff we can get by doing quests and chasing rewards, and things we can buy in the Gem Shop. I don't mind buying occasional things in the GS since that means there's no monthly subscription.
  19. This is how I feel too. Solo exploration has always been my favorite but I like jumping into group events occasionally. So I'm looking forward to it all -- maps, story, fishing, skiffs, siege turtle, music, jade bots, and hopefully lots of fun new rewards. New GS stuff that's not too expensive is a pipe dream but I still hope.
  20. I too would like to know if we can name them, like we do our Ranger pets. Thanks. If we can, I choose "Rocky," for the alien's name in the book "Project Hail Mary" (highly recommended, written by Andy Weir, author of "The Martian").
  21. "Need" and "video game" don't really go together. We don't need any game. We -- at least I -- play because I enjoy gaming. I also like some but not all skins. You say easily impressed; I say having fun!
  22. Are there any actual reviews? All I'm seeing are rather generic previews, which don't tell me anything new. Has anyone actually gotten the expac to review? That said, I'm looking forward to EoD and happily preordered it.
  23. I don't like WvW either but have gotten 6 or 7 Gifts of Battle over the years by mostly doing one or two easy WvW dailies most days. The points add up slowly, but that's OK because I'm also slowly farming all the other stuff I need for Legendaries.
