What your feeling on Forced Engagement and Dwarf in general?
phokus.8934 replied to Knighthonor.4061's topic in Revenant
Whats the difference? How is this working? Here’s a simplistic example:Additivey = 100 (1 + (10% + 20%))y = 100 1.3y = 130 Multiplicativey = 100 (1 + (10% 20%)y = 100 * 1.02y = 102 So this is an extremely dumbed down version of how values are calculated in games but shows you the difference between the two. Damage Reduction is multiplicative because if it wasn’t then you could build characters to run complete damage mitigation on low cooldowns. The only exception that I know of comes from Guardian signet of judgement. -

phokus.8934 replied to Knighthonor.4061's topic in Revenant
I’m almost 100% positive that damage reduction is multiplicative and not additive, say for a few scenarios. So 147% DR isn’t completely accurate. -
Move the servers closer to south america? This is awful.
phokus.8934 replied to Razor.6392's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Actually, no. Most of the ping problems are caused by distance and the time it takes the packets to travel. The speed of light is high, but it isn't infinite, and those hundreds of ms of round-trip ping for Australians, for example, are based mostly on the time it takes the packets to travel across the Pacific Ocean. (And they only manage about two-thirds of the speed of light, anyway.)Not entirely based on distance but a combination of distance and how the traffic is routed. The more hops it takes the longer it’ll take to reach the destination. -
If it’s part of base Mesmer and elites how does it offer another playstyle? Mesmer as a whole gets a free port and maintain their current utilities. I’d rather they change Portal from 30 seconds to 45 seconds.

Structured pvp and at's - Don't bring back the mat's
phokus.8934 replied to Dantheman.3589's topic in Player vs. Player
If you think that’s what’s killing pvp the you’re delusional. First and foremost they do not balance solely around ATs. It’s a combination of ATs, ranked, and wvw/ What killed pvp was removing team queue for duo queue. But we have no one to blame other than the community at the time. People were complaining about a five stack rolling over 1s and then wanted only 5v5. But that can’t strictly happen so ANet did what the community wanted. And this is why you don’t let the inmates run things. It turns into a disaster which is how pvp got to where it is today. -

GW2 ERP TORUNAMENT JUST PASSED 10K Viewers
phokus.8934 replied to Lacko.6572's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
teapot (host), had to choose between anet support or his camera addon (its against anet rules). I dont know about ERP 1 view numbers, but i guess it was 2-3k. ERP 2 final had 5k viewers. And ERP 3 had 17k Why do people keep saying that? Seems like some made up garbo from the spam in twitch chat. -
Basically. The first day of ERP had around 4k viewers.

Who really knows what they have planned. There's a myriad of options for them to do: 1) elite specs not tied to expansions 2) expansions are story/ls/world map driven 3) we flat out don't get any new elite specs. Fortunately we don't have to wait long to see what's in store for GW2.

But pips are pretty much useless and doesn't solve anything in pvp. And we're already rewarded with an extra pip for top stats. If your team is down by over 150 points, the last thing they're looking at is how many pips they gain. Ranked is all about that plus and minus on rating for winning and losing.

How to fix dragonhunter's longbow, skill change suggestions
phokus.8934 replied to RisenHowl.2419's topic in Guardian
Just echoing that True Shot needs to have its root removed, Heavy Light being baseline for Deflecting Shot, and Symbol of Energy needs a complete rework. Hunter's Ward could use a decrease in its casting and cooldown. -
what's the point of 3 week reset period
phokus.8934 replied to Lighter.5631's topic in Player vs. Player
What the hell are you on? This is nothing more than ANet controlling their game and how people play it. Do you know the laws of game developers do you? I did a bit more research myself and turns out theres quite a bit directed at game developers..... I actually spent a good half hour using Google on the matter, I'm sure anyone could actually. When it comes to software development I do. I know quite a bit because I deal with it on a daily basis - from contracting and licensing, product management, software development, etc. - 12 years doing this I've been through pretty much most of it. What you're stating above has nothing to do with software development but rather gambling. Regardless of any of this, Ben's response is clear as to why they do these breaks. -
. Either is unlikely to happen for reasons of cost, Dev time and going against the cooperative philosophy behind PvE in this game. Thanks for quoting stuff from 2012. Things are changing trough the years, new stuff are implemented in the game in a weekly basis. Unless you quote or provide arguments to the contrary, the official stance has remained the same ever sicne 2012. Given how the game has moved even more towards PvE content, I'll wait until you come up with some of the things which changed which would in any way support your position. Besides you wanting something ofcorse.Ben said that recently as of 2019. Simply put, open world pvp will never happen.

Getting tired of lag in WvW, unplayable
phokus.8934 replied to Draco.9480's topic in World vs. World
Now if ANet managed all of the nodes between every play and Amazon's servers then sure, it'd be on "Anets end" but they do not. -
If the Boon output is fine, in your opinion, then any suggestions of rework would be useless. I want people to discuss the issues about Boon System and whether it is in need of rework or not. If you are fine with the current Boon output, that's cool. There is no reason for me to provide you with alternative system. We just have different opinions. I am no designer - I am curious what others have to say. It's as if you didn't even read what you wrote in your OP. But like I said, about par for these forums.

Makes post about wanting boons to be reworked but offers no suggestions. About par for these forums. Boon output is fine with the exception of maybe FB but it's a support spec.

Let's make something clear - I've played Mesmer since day one and continue to do so. You're living in a fantasy world to think that they won't nerf Mirage like they did Chrono. I don't want see Mirage nerfed or have Chrono keep this abomination of changes. Until you get that through your head and understand that these changes are most likely sticking the better off you'll be. Now if they repurpose the loss of IP from Chrono to Mirage then that's something I'm willing to accept. Nothing you said makes sense. "They are going to nerf Mirage so lets demand they nerf it" Thinking that if Mirage loses IP that Chorno would somehow get it back is the only fantasy here, nice condescending tone though. You’re delusional if you think Mirage isn’t getting touched next. They already made it clear that they’re willing to change baseline mechanics with e-specs. They made the decision to drop iP from Chrono which was not the right decision. I guess you can’t critically think that this would be better suited for Mirage. Until you come back to reality then continue to think Mirage won’t be touched.
