  1. I have to admit I was annoyed when it came up with the group message for a story instance, but thankfully it was actually fine and nothing to worry about in the end. What worried me was that 1-2 players would run ahead skipping battles/story bits and I'd not get to enjoy it as I'd have to rush to keep up, or that some might treat it like a raid and start hurling abuse in chat if I didn't have a set build & perfect dps. But thankfully the way it was desgiend meant none of that was an issue, you go at the pace of the npcs, and there's not really anything tough enough for people to worry about builds/optimal dps. In the end my group just got on with it like any open world meta or event and it was just as enjoyable. So for anyone who hasn't played it yet and is put off by hearing its group content, don't worry if you had the concerns I did where it might end up like a raid, or fractal speed run, it won't, it'll just be like any other open world meta/event chain. With that being said I do agree with those saying that story should be doable solo.
  2. I've finished them and I'd agree with that, there's fairly minimal dialogue in them and I don't think they really add much to anyone who hasn't played season 1/missed bits of it, or read/watched anything about it. If anything for a new player the recap video from the npc in LA is probably more useful I'd have said.
  3. I was originally against mounts and concerned they'd hurt the game / how it's played, but the way the handled them was done well I think and I've been enjoying them since they were added. Certainly I'd be able to go back to playing without them, but have to admit I'd really miss the convenience of them for map completion with alts. The only thing I think that's been a downside from mounts in the gameplay is that now it seems as if fewer random people tend to stop and help other players in combat, they just mount in, get their node or chest then mount up and get out of there even if there's some downed players, it just feels a little less sociable in that regard. Though that's just what I seem to have noticed, weather or not it is actually fewer people stopping / helping / interacting with people randomly is impossible to say for certain.
  4. To be fair I don't actually play daily anymore as I don't have time, but when I do login PoF metas are not something I do, I'll always opt for the HoT ones instead (if I'm doing any metas on that play session). I don't play metas for the rewards, and I've just never found the PoF metas fun so extra rewards haven't helped. Casion Blitz I find mind numbingly dull, as with the Burried Treasure one, Serpents Ire feels overly tedious, drawn out, not that interesting, and gives me the worst performance of anything in the whole game. Maw and Augry Rock are OK at best, but don't come close to HoT metas imo. I much prefer the way HoT metas feel with the whole map working toward a goal / progressing the map toward the meta (if played all the way through rather than a quick meta train). I think there's also still an element of that I find the PoF maps quite dull as well, and of course the aggro range is so irritating that puts me off too.
  5. Try asking nicely on the raid forum for some help. I did that way back when I needed to unlock the track and got messages from a lot of kind souls willing to help me get the track unlocked (for free too!) by essentially carrying me with a group from their guilds.
  6. For me VR still has a very long way to go to make something like that worthwhile and be properly immersive / do it justice. To do something like that now would be a waste imo, but in the future if VR has improved significantly then I'd be interested.
  7. I alternate, sometimes I click other times I'll use the keyboard. I actually have a Naga (on the occasions it decides to work), but I find the side buttons on that a little too close together for me, so normally only end up using 1-3 on that.
  8. I get the need invisible walls in certain areas, so rather than just remove them I'd prefer it if they just tweaked them a bit. Especially some of the colliders around bits of vanilla maps where the collision boxes are quite sloppy and excessively oversized on the higher bits of objects because at the time they didn't matter as no one would ever know. That's been the problem retrospectively adding mounts etc to areas that weren't designed for them. I would though like it if they removed no mount zones from most areas, they serve little to no purpose in most cases imo. Around JPs they are pointless as most can still be bypassed if you find the right spot, or use a combo of mount, glider and the mastery that jumps you off a mount. Plus the loot from a JP is fairly insignificant, and people have been able to bypass JPs with portals for years anyway. No mount zones just get in the way when your travelling across the map near a JP.
  9. Basically all of the top three options (airships, housing, housing on airships), although normal ships would also work for me. In the past I've posted that I'd really love a personal airship home instance where it could (even if for a fee) be relocated to be 'docked'/'hovered' at different locations, as in you could set it to dock in the LA map then if you wanted the following week you could set it's dock location to DR. I think it would also be nice if we actually got a single player guild hall instance, as in a similar thing to sun's refuge where we could expand it through collections etc, only something in a nice location/map, and something that was worthwhile (not a half hearted thing that's designed for 1 story episode then becomes redundant). Also I would like fishing if done in a fun minigame type of way, but I'd rather have the above.
  10. I'd agree with this, not against rifle ele but I think dual pistols could be fun, as would dual swords. I would actually quite like a 'conjured weapons ele' as well, where each attunement is a different summoned weapon, so for example switching to fire would give a weapon and skillset similar to fgs, switichng to air would then switch to weapon and skills similar to lighting hammer etc (only using new conjured weapons and skills so its different to the existing conjured weapons). The only problem I could think of with that (aside from the work/resources needed etc) is that I'm not sure how it'd work stat wise for equipment, as if each attunement was a different conjured weapon then I don't know which weapon type equipment would fall under, maybe a new weapon type like a gauntlet or ring of some form would suit it, but that means adding a whole new weapon set, skins, legendary etc. Its perhaps too complicated to ever see the light of day, but I think it would be a fun way to play.
  11. I didn't get much, I got an exotic worth about 10g but I don't think that was related to the bonus box I think it dropped from the normal loot table. That said my data is quite small and insignificant as I have been busy since this started so haven't had a chance to play much.
  12. I did quite like the old Lions Arch, and I really, really don't like the current one, but I don't think I'd actually want Lions Arch to revert back to its old form fully/permanently via an event/story. I think a VIP pass to the old version could maybe be a way of doing it, but you'd have to wonder if it would really 'feel' the same as old LA doing it that way, with players split between the current and old versions, I have a feeling it would somehow end up feeling a bit empty and not like a main city if it came back as a VIP pass. I think if old LA could come back for a temporary period (say a month or so) through an in game event, say some current event involving a rift thing which somehow shifts it back, then I'd rather that. Alternatively what I'd much rather prefer is for current LA to gradually get updated and redesigned bit by bit, just in the same way normal cities evolve. Of course I don't imagine anything like that will happen due to time and resources involved, something like this would be a luxury and not a priority.
  13. HoT still has the Noble's Folly lounge with crafting and a forge etc, so I guess there's that as well.
  14. I don't think any of the poll options fit me. For my main (ele) I enjoy tempest more than core because of the overloads, but while I was really excited about weaver and being able to use a sword, I just haven't been able to make it work so I was left a bit disappointed. (not saying sword weaver is bad, it's probably due to my lack of skill/reactions and not being able to play it right). But other classes such as theif, the options of being able to use a staff or sniper rifle did make me start playing a class which I wouldn't have otherwise.
  15. Why would you aggro 5 moas then just stand there and do nothing to begin with? And if you want to kill level 20 bandits with your auto attack you can pretty easily, so what if it takes a few hits rather than one. As for other points you've tied to make, there are always people around to do level 80 group events, either use LFG, ask in map, or tag up. And levelling to 80 is ridiculously easy and doesn't take long in this game, so not sure what 'hard work' you were on about getting to level 80. Anyhow as others have mentioned there are both technical and inpractical reasons (megaservers, dividing player population, lower level players already face difficulty trying to tag mobs for credit, oneshots would make it almost impossible for them, especially on daily day. And of course there's that it'd be a monumental waste of time/effort/resources for something that would not benefit Anet in any way, especially financially) why this won't happen.
  16. I've also only just found that out, literally just this second when I read your post lol For my thing it's not so recent, but I was surprised when first I discovered you could still use aerial combat skills in Lake Doric if you caught a ley line then detached from it.
  17. I use two of these on my mesmer https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mordrem_Saber not a katana but they're the nearest thing I've found for the katana look I wanted. The only actual katana (or katana style) I've seen is Belinda's Greatsword as others have linked, but I've not brought it as the animations for mesmer greatsword skills don't really work with it imo (in fact would be interested to know which classes, if any, where the animations actually look good/right with that skin? Have a ranger but I just don't think the GS skills on that work with it either)
  18. I'm always initially put off by it as my ocd hates having the world map fogged over/part fogged while I do completion again (still wish there was an option that allowed you to choose 'display unfogged world map' for new chars as long as you'd done it previously). But once I've finished a couple of zones I start to get back into it and enjoy rediscovering little areas of maps which I'd forgotten about. Then of course there are the perks like black lion keys (don't know what the chances are, but I seem to average at least 1 every 4-5 maps, had a good run once of 6 from 7 maps), plus all the mats gained too. It's also nice occasionally coming across an event which you've not done in a while, or even never have before. Of course now mounts and the prototype position rewinder make things a lot easier these days, hop up to a mountain/tall structure, use the rewinder, dive with the griffon and cruise over some POIs, then rewind back to the mountain and do the same from another direction. Hearts overall I don't mind as most go reasonably quickly, especially if an event happens to overlap, but some I do find very tedious. The main parts I hate redoing completion on are the PoF maps because I find them really uninteresting maps, and I find the hearts there some of the most unenjoyable in the game. And I don't really enjoy doing the cities, because although they're easy and don't really take long, they just feel like a lot of unnecessary running around for no real reason (and not even a chance at a key).
  19. you already have the easy mode option available. When the jp where first introduced you could see all the other players. because of all the players you would have a hard time to see where to jump next, and easily fail. now you just see a little fog and a red name over their head. watch a guide and try harder. its not that hard. I didn't even mention an 'easy mode' option, only that it would be nice to have an instance to practise in, one where players can get used to the layout, and most importantly not have to wait around after each fail. Watching a guide is fine, but having to wait an eternity after each failed attempt is something that really causes an issue with trying to practise it, hence why I (and I'm sure many others) decide to just ignore this JP, even though I enjoy JPs. Also glad you find it "not that hard", but that doesn't mean others don't find it hard, and that's fine, as you say it's a case of "try harder", which is exactly why a 'practice instance' would be nice to have, so people who don't find it easy can try to improve at it, without having to spend half of their gaming time waiting in a lobby.
  20. I'd very much welcome the option of a solo 'practice' instance of it, where you could enter and attempt it without waiting for bits to appear, and without any timers/bits falling away, and most importantly where If you fail then you could restart and attempt it again straight away, without that stupid waiting timer, as that's the main reason I don't bother with it. Even if this 'practice' mode didn't give rewards I'd be fine with that, it'd just be nice to have an instance to enjoy it and try to improve for the actual challenge.
  21. Just wanted to add my praise as others have done, fantastic video!! Very informative, great info, and always on point, no pointless intros, silly jingles or background music required, I wish all YouTube videos used this format! I'll look forward to more of your videos :)
  22. Being a Waypoint Cheapskate is a thing. That might well be a thing (no idea why or who would be that stingy about a couple of silver), but I would just like a city tome for convenience, as if I'm on a map with different layers, or far away from a city then a couple of double clicks on something in the top row of my inventory would be quicker* than having to switch map layers then scroll across the map to find a city WP, the tomes could charge the same as a WP for all I care. *at least tomes would be quicker if anet actually fixed it so the dialogue box opened above the inventory instead of hidden behind it.
  23. There's the Noble's Folly VIP pass which is in VB. And you could use the Exalted Portal Stone to get to AB (though in an instance, so I just WP as it's quicker)
  24. I like this idea, and really hope they do add a way to store/combine them all into one item/slot like the LW portal tomes. If that happened then I would actually make all of the city scrolls. I have the mistlock pass, but it's not a convenient way to travel to a city unless you are already in it, as otherwise it means an extra loading screen, and even with SSD I'd rather just pay a WP fee to go direct to avoid that. *also would love a tome for all the vip passes, I'd buy a few others if they could all be combine too.
  25. I think the current ways of obtaining them are fine. In fact by having to do WvW for the GoB, I ended up playing and enjoying a game mode that I wouldn't have ventured into before. As it turns out despite now having a few of each gifts I still haven't bothered to start creating a legendry, and might not bother. So the only change I wouldn't mind is if they added an option/vendor where we could trade the gifts in for some gold or other item/skin/reward or something. So those of us who don't create a legendary would still get something from them.
