Nerf braindead dps mechanist

Possibly remove balanceman from the team and balance mechanist for real. I you want to have mechanist as the class of choice for people otherwise incapable of playing the game that's fine, just a) remove all utility from it unless the player is playing support (which should also be nerfed and forced ro make choices and give up something via traits but I digress) and b) make it good enough to clear content, but below every single other specialisation that actually requires people to push buttons.

Thank you.

Someone call the whambulance.

Engi was crap for years unless you were Mozart.

???

You know, (kitless) Sw/Sh Holosmith was a thing in the META for a long time - one of the strongest pDPS builds actually and very easy to play.

Not only mechanist is a braindead-dps class. What about condi Virtuoso? It's literally pushing every skill off-CD. Willbender? — Same. Specter? — Spam the highest damage skill.

I would say — don't change it too much. First people are whinning about casuals doing low damage, but giving them a tool to be more efficient is suddenly bad. Why?

I wouldnt mind those builds existing but they should be like 32k at best for how low effort they are.. and if its a 1 button spam then it deserves to be sub 10k and no excuses

They could at least pretend to balance these specs, though.  Does every discussion have to be all or nothing?  Nobody's suggesting making the specs useless, but should ranged utility specs that get half their damage from AA spam and passives be competing for top DPS?

Oh I forgot PoF came out in 2012.

What? You didn't break caudecus manor by spaming bombkit AA to kill mobs from LOS spots? You missed some fun.

Imo engineer wasn't "bad" nor did it need people to be bethowen or mozart in the early days (except for condi builds, which weren't a good choice at that time anyway), it was simply vastly inferior to "elegod" and few players were attracted by how the steampunk concept had been implemented in GW2.

Fact, the Steampunk element is what took me so long to try out GW2 and its still my least favorite part. I don't mind pistols but jade tech esp is awful.

I am an engineer main, drawn to the game and class especially BECAUSE of the steampunk elements.

This being said, I am not a fan how the elite specs tend to go more and more towards scifi levels of technology. Feels like engineer elite specs now try to top each other with more and more ridiculous inventions. First we got to create "hard light" with the photon forge, now we have a gigantic robot fighting at our side.

If this goes on, our engineers will soon be able to alter the fabric of existence itself with a simple button on their smart phone. I want to return to more reasonable levels of technology. Still hope for a chemical themed elite spec in the future for engineer, something that deals with acids, poison gases and other mixtures.

This, so much f-ing this. I don't get where people pulled that kind of data beyond trying to attend a victimization contest but Engineer did the job without that much more effort and was, like many other classes, shadowed by a few more comprehensible offenders.

It did okay at the release, built the Beethoven reputation with the condi changes through HoT, PoF further cemented that reputation while giving much simpler yet competitive alternatives, both on Holosmith and Scrapper, the former already being called degen at times. The whole concept of "Our time is now after all these years of struggle." make me chuckle, and "payback" isn't a valid justification for these kind of buffs, especially when there wasn't any struggle to begin with.

Core grenade/bomb kit spvp engie back in the day was a monster.

So were static discharge builds or HGH builds. Tool kit also used to be put to work with great results due to the 1200 range unblockable magnet pull into pry bar (mostly in WvW). Or even the old slick shoes build that was hellish to fight against before they nerfed the skill.

Prior to mech, When was the last time you saw someone LFG for an engi?

Holo was a good for dps, but completely selfish. You could repace it with another dps without changing your raid comp.

Meta pre EoD for years was Firebrand and/or Chrono for quickness, Druid for heals spirits and spotter, Warrior for banners, Alacrigade for Alac. If you were struggling, you could run a heal scourge. then you would fill out with whatever DPS was available.

In fractals you would run weaver as a part of the rainbow comp. (before it got butchered. Buff weaver pls)

That's every class but engi and thief with a niche in PvE.

Looking at Holosmith. It had stiff competition from Soulbeast because they would could bring spotter, OWP, and allow the druid to drop a spirit if they felt inclined. Or DH for better burst dps.

Scrapper came close after gaining quickness, but FB thoroughly outclasses them. Heal scrapper is good, but not good enough that anyone bothered LFGing (LF Heal Scrapper). It was always LF HB.

Mech is the first time since I began playing this game in PoF that Engi has been good enough that people actively search them out.

Engi was the 2nd least played prof for a good reason. It only beat out Rev, the expac locked class.

I am not against what you say, but it could take all the places. I'm not for a nerf but more a buff of other professions that are not at the same level to give them the possibility to be played too especially in PvE. Again it doesn't mean to have all the buffs...

Thats where I am as well. There's a lot of room for improvement with the other support specs. I REALLY dislike this gameplay Anet forces certain supports into you have to devote a huge chunk of your skill bar and press it on CD to maintain boons. It's neither skillful, nor satisfying, nor fun.

We need more supports that can use the tools at their disposal at appropriate times during the fight.

also buff staff ele.

I see DPS, Quick/Heal, I'll sign in. Maybe the competition is stiff, maybe it's not FB, but it did, and still does the job even if not that optimally. If you're that much on the lookout for fine tuning you might as well jump on another class yourself because specs will always steal eachother spots in the pug life, whether it's DPS or Support.

Not that it matters to me, but it's not Engi that is being searched for, it's Mechanist. FB's little brother might be another class entirely given how alien it is compared to the source material but eh, congratulations for being "desired" by some standards I guess.
