Does the loot for me ever going to improve or not?

Why would you go through all that farming gold when you can just swipe your credit card on the store........I mean duh we don't actually play the game anymore we just buy the best skins off the cash shop.

For me there is a balance between spending and loot drops. For me it’s not a problem to buy the ultimate edition (needed the 4K gems) but at some point I  also want nice drops. Without feeling to use my wallet again to even obtain something.

and about hearthstone. That bundles are so nice compared to normal prices.  that it’s harder to not buying it. Normal pack is 100 gold, I can only get maybe 6 packs a week. 1 bundle was 20 euro for 20 packs and 1 legendary card. And also I am able to buy iTunes currency for the packs. I can’t buy gem cards on my own. If I could then maybe I had buy more gems more often. And also i had a plan in mind and i needed dust for it. I could make my brain relax till I tried the tactic I was thinking about.

if guildwars 2 have a very nice deal compared to normal prices. Maybe a mount select license for 500 gems the chance is high that I would buy gems.

I wonder if the fact those items don't drop for everyone is somehow related to their price? 🤔

I think anet just put the infusions in the tp, otherwise it’s not fair for ppl who convert cash to gems to gold. Then ppl stop spending cash because the bids on the tp doesn’t get accepted. When I first checked the tp I saw 47 bids. (Orders or what’s called) and new there are only a few.

BUT there can also be good thing and I have to say that as well. Yesterday i got in a soo-won meta map and all went very nice. We killed the boss and had 6 minutes left on the timer. I thought how is this possible. But there was a French streamer with his community. I added him. Felt good. I got another mastery point for not getting 10 stack of corruption. And today (Sunday) we killed it again. But this was another person.

If those items were much more common that many people got them then they wouldn't be that much expensive when you looted one, back to complaining about a bad rng.

To me there are way too many items and too expensive to get them all, so you just try to get what you most like. If you can't be lucky and get the drop then you just can save gold to buy it. This is Fashion Wars 2, so the flashy stuff will be usually very rare and very expensive. You surely can see around people that complained before about they want more exclusive skins to show off. Like once you see 5 people with Twilight in the same spot waiting for a world boss or whatever it stops being legendary or unique. By now it's just expensive for the mats used, being base for Eternity, and the legendary armory convenience, but it's a quite common legendary skin

If it makes you feel better, my rng sucks too.

PvP is simpler. You could be the worst player ever it is still fine. WvW still requires some skill. Skill can still be helpful in PvP to get it done faster but it isn't a gating mechanism.

Wait. What?

You can farm WvW leggie armor by flipping camps and shrines. The only skill required is a high tolerance for tedium.

But can say i wasnt lucky with rng , still i despite this system , you can have a random garry discovering silverwaste and getting the bee infusion after 10 hours of playtime . Thats just disgusting , i'd rather do an achievement like succeed 10000 times silverwastes , than freaking rng , at least the end of the tunnel is far but the end exist.

It's a standard psychological trick, which drives every lottery or other gambling in the world.

When we know we must do it 10K times it may demotivate us at the very beginning, or prevent from even starting. But when your buddy have gotten it last week after 10h playtime, you think that today may be Your Day, you need just to show up. And when we don't get the item, we (often unconsciously) are transferring that hope to our next attempt: "may be tomorrow, because why not?". It's how our brain works and makes casinos being full every day. As well as some GW2 metas ;D

I play pvp/wvw only and over the last 2 years i have dropped... Dusk TWO TIMES.

2 days ago i got 5 unidentified dyes from playing pvp. i opened them and i got 2x Permafrost and 1 abyssal sun dye. i sold all 3 for over 300 gold total. ^^

i am literally p00ping gold, lol.

edit: i know it can be confusing that people simply get lucky... but it is what it is 😄

This must be a lie, or they changed unidentified dyes. To my knowledge the most expensive one was celestial if I remember correctly. And no birthday dyes can drop from them.

I thought they came out of the unidentified dyes that i had just received. i just noticed that i had those 3 valuable dyes in my inventory a few hours later xD

anet can make my life (in games) so much better by just mail me a full legendary armor set. It would help me very much.
real life is not always easy. So then I am playing a game for relaxing.

Um, gw2 may not be the game for you. Gw2 has never been a game for just giving you everything in the game without you having to do anything. Why not just give you all of the achievements too? That way you won't have to do any of the content in the game. They could also create a new celestial stat with +10k to every attribute and give you that so everything in the game dies when you look at it.

This would be a terrible game if nothing was worth doing.  Legendary armor only holds value if you have to go on this Legendary quest of slaying epic monsters (raids) or you are *theoretically* a fighting champion (wvw/pvp).

If everyone drove the exact same Bentley then it wouldn't be a status symbol to own one.  The people who drive a Bentley don't do it because it's a better car than a Honda civic. They do it because it's more luxurious and shows everyone around them that they are *theoretically* better and have achieved more.

If you got your driver's license and your free Bentley then it would be completely worthless regardless of how nice it is. You'd treat it like trash and just throw it away as soon as you were bored with it.

Gw2 would be trash if everything was handed to you.

As a casual player it kinda pains me to say this but if you want legendary armor either get good or go flip camps in wvw everyday for 6 months like the rest of us

And btw if leggies and infusions are flexy and flashy it doesn't mean they are beautiful. For me putting together all this stuff on one character looks like kitsch (especially with leggy ring bubbles) and sometimes just physically irritates the eye :classic_ninja:

On the other hand just by doing T1 fractals and achievements you can obtain some really elegant skins. Combining these with couple of relatively cheap skins and dyes from TP and Gem store I was able to make beautiful laconic looks for all of my characters, which still do stand out.

sounds whiffy.....

Abyssal Sun and Permafrost are both exclusive dyes.... this means they can only come from gem store dye kits and birthday presents. Birthday dyes are account bound and cannot be sold.

Your description of how you acquired it is questionable.

You're quite right...it's eye of the beholder.  For me, some of the best skins for armor and weapons are from achievements.  I love the elegy set.  Caladbolg is still one my faves for a great sword.  You can definitely find dyes that look as good as the expensive ones, and it really depends on the individual dye channels on which look best.  I love the stat swapping convenience of legendaries, but the skins are....subjective.  There are ways to obtain eye pleasing gear without being "rich".

I started playing this year in February and I've got 3 exclusive dyes, though I don't know how I've obtained them, but I believe they're from black lion chests (I haven't bough any dyes via Gem store).

It just doesn't sound plausible that you acquired tradable versions of the dyes.

1. Permafrost comes from the Jormag dye kit which was last in the BLC in August 2021.... I mean it's possible you had this drop a year ago... or longer... but it would not have appeared from a BLC drop this year.

2. Abyssal Sun is from the Darkest Abyss Dye Kit which has was only introduced in Nov 2021 in the gem store and has never been in a BLC.  You either bought it from the gem store or never had it at all.

EDIT; nevermind, I've probably quoted the wrong post.

You sure love your conspiracy theories to justify why you're not getting super rare drops exactly the same way the majority of players don't get them. Again: if everyone was getting them, they wouldn't be worth as much as they are. You're just rolling a million-sided dice and every time you don't roll "1", you say it must be rigged.

About the Bentley part, that sounds weird to me. That’s not why I should buy a car. I would buy a car that i like. Not one to show others that I am better at some point. That’s weird.
I want legendary armor because stat swap. I want to do something for it. But why not like nevermore. I crafted nevermore in 11 days.
i don’t want legendary armor for show off. And the ppl who own a Bentley have succes in business or born with rich family. But legendary armor is just achieved with content ppl enjoy.
except open world players.

Some people are just bad seeds and banned from rare lewt while others are the chosen ones who bring such rarities to the TP. It can't be helped. Life is unfair 😛

Last time I found something valuable to sell, which was leaf of kudzu, was around 6 years ago which drained all my luck forev.

Gotta slog it and sell the smol sprinkled loot stuff like T6 mats, gathered stuff and whatever you salvage from blue/green/yellow fodder items and make use of laurels. Sort your material storage by price on gw2efficiency.

yes life is unfair sometimes, but that doesn't mean a game has to be the same (a game is not my life) and no that doens't sound like it is 😛 games should be relax. everything is virtual, cost nothing. yes time to create, but then you can sell it endless.
in hearthstone ppl call themself whales, they spend so much money in the game. i am not like that, i spend money when i have fun, when i have the feeling that i have to use my wallet then i am just not buying items.
but call of duty is much worse then gw2, in gw2 i can choose what content i can play. in call of duty if matchmaking is bad and some players have a high ping and made the matches unplayable that is a much bigger problem. then the whole game is unplayable. but on the other side (or how it is called) i only have to buy the basegame. and battlepass is not needed.

If it makes you feel any better, MightyTeapot, one of the most well-known GW2 streamers, I've seen multiple videos of his where he talks with others about how awful the rewards feel and some of the people he talks with share sentiments comparing to other games and how they feel more rewarding.

So it's definitely not just you. The weird thing about GW2 is that most of the gameplay is centered around getting you to chase rewards for a very long time, but you almost have to not care about rewards to enjoy the game in the long-term. Like there is quite a bit to do if you treat it as a buffet of different types of gameplay, but playing it this way also means getting suboptimal rewards for time spent. Playing it efficiently for gold so you can get stuff you want will get you there much faster, but is also very repetitive and grindy.

And yeah, GW2 has its cooperative elements that work well, but rewards are not one of them. It's easy to feel jealous of others getting a rare reward when you don't because the reward system is very individualistic and confined to you. You can help others in their journey to get certain account bound rewards, but then they are theirs and they can't share them with you in any way. And depending on how you help them, it might delay your own even more. So there is little motivation to help other than pure altruism. It appears the people with the healthiest mentality about this game in that way are people who either already have everything they want, or don't care about the rewards, so they are more motivated to help out as they see fit and encourage others to pass that help on.

It's a real shame. In some ways, the game feels very community-focused and then in other ways it feels very encouraging of self-centered mentality. I enjoy it most with the community-focused elements like organized metas or people helping each other out with jumping puzzles and then feel the most repulsed when noticing the more self-centered aspects of it like the rewards system. And I am not hopeful about it improving because I look at the cash shop and see that at the center of what is wrong with the rewards and so I don't expect it to be changed much.

But about legendary armor. I want that because stat swap is free. I am nearly always out of spirit shards. If spirit shards were not a problem I had just craft more ascended sets. (If I had some gold) But I have to grind my … off to get enough spirit shards. When there was a time when you didn’t get a spirit shard because you didn’t have max mastery i wasted so much xp on that. Also unfair. I have guildy’s swimming in spirit shards. I was busy for legendary trinket. I have 2 blood stone shards in bank and maybe 50 spirit shards in wallet or something.
playing open world back then didn’t give spirit shards. Same for daily’s. Pvpers start what they like and get easy daily quest completion. Wvwers the same. Open world players had to waste a few hours for a jp or events in some zone, yes there are always some easy ones. But you have to complete 3 tasks (if it was just 4 events in the zone you like then its fair) because then you can just go to the zone where you want to make progress.
playing PvP or wvsw gave tomes, and doesn’t even need max lvl.  when i am typing this. Feels like open world players are the ppl who get the worst rewards. While the game was made for big open world fights. Raids came later.  And so open world players are the ppl who have to spend cash. Wvw get easy clovers. More chance for ascended drops. (Also ascended chests)

And ofc not everything is bad. There are also good things. But problems have to be solved (feedback) I don’t have to say all positive things. Then they don’t do something with the bad things. If everything was bad then I didn’t even play the game 🙂 positive things are nice to say. But a useless topic. Positive things can be shared elsewhere on social media or something.

What about it? Play the game and you'll get the shards. Opposed to the complaint about rare valuable drops, this one isn't about luck.

The super expensive stuff ... is super rare. And generally you won't get rich just by waiting for such a lucky drop. Also normal mob killing will only drop trash. In the end some optimized runs (there are websites for this) ... can get some money by combining and maximizing the sources.  Some meta events ... where you get the unidentified gear and other stuff.. And there are other things. Your daily 2 gold from the dailies.

I first thought as well "oh now ... this is the same as WoW after all" - but slowly just enjoying ... I got some gold - more and more. (Every now and then a mid-ranged drop that sells for a 2-digits amount of gold.) Always doing PvE the season chests - and the 2 gold daily. Selling small stuff. This gathers up.

On the other hand ... when I remember my time back then at WoW when it was releasd: Never got enough gold to buy the first horse. Such a grind and all the stuff to do there felt boring. Stopped before getting a max level char.

Just a legendary at some point - and maybe some stuff that costes 100-200 gold - you can do that. I am sure. The stuff that costs thousands of gold ... is not meant to be gotten by everyone. Compare it to other games where there probably is stuff where you have to farm a raid tons of times until you get a lucky bound drop. (Which I think is fare more boring than gathering gold slowly through different means where you can change and not always do the same stuff.)

Not everyone plays that way. Nobody in my small circle does, so I imagine others don't as well. We just play the game for fun, knowing that our gold and drops go towards future rewards -- crafting ascended and legendary gear, among others.
