Reasonably certain that they are the same creatures.

Imps don't really have wings though.

The GW1 versions are 100% more accurate, according to mythology.

Compare both side by side, the only similarities are just the name implying it's an imp, when in reality looks more like a fiendish version of a demon, or maybe even a Gargoyles.

How are those different then the flying ones?

GW2 ones have bigger wings so they were given actual flying animations.

Also a higher polygon count.

And ice imps in GW1 have a beard. So clearly they're different, because beards.

GW1 imps have wings too though, and imps having wings or not is not exactly details in mythology. Original imps are just small mischievous creatures. Exact appearance is never truly defined nor consistent.

THESE are the same creatures, but the two "versions" of the imps aren't?  C'mon man, you know they changed things when they changed the art style. I know you know this.

They do.

You're right.

I forgot about that, and when I looked at wiki image last night was 2 am and was almost at sleep.

The difference is that they fly in gw2.

I was just stuck on that gw1 version of them being flightless creatures, even though they have wings-too small to carry their weight.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I was talking about imps, not trolls.

But ok.

You made your point... whatever that may be.

The point was that the same creature changed massively in design between the games.

Just like the design (and the flight capability that was your point) for Imps changed, so did Trolls change how they look.

There are many other life forms with drastically different designs as well. For examples, both Tengu and Druids in GW2 look very different to what they looked like in GW1.

To be clear though, the GW1 imps do fly during some of their casting animations.

Humans being obvious.

Soooo... uh... hobgoblins? No no no no, scratch that.  I got this.  Gnolls!! Right?  No?  okay okay.... the humans in GW2 are like the ... drow!

K... I'm bad at this.  It's not obvious what humans are.

Didn't you hear?  All the gargoyles got killed off.  kitten Ascalonians making fetishes out of their skulls ...

I blame that traveling dude, Nick, for that.  I mean, it was bad with all the skulls being ripped out and fashioned into weapons and armor, but Nick really put that practice over the top.

That's not really flight though.

They jump while flapping their wings.

That's hardly flying at all.

It's a very very short hover at best... and I'm being generous,  not to sound too contradicting.

I miss most of the creatures from gw1.

Those molten titans are so kitten cool.

So are margonites.

Not very keen on them subterranean creatures you find in elona and far shiverpeaks though.

Coincidencial that one of the is called imp.

Now that's something that is quite out of place.

But yeah. Dinosaurs. Bring back the dinosaurs.

The velociraptors we have now are neither scary nor tough.

I remember having to use unblockable skills each time I went to an area full of them.

Can be quite nasty.... and that T Rex is a real nasty bugger.

Which ones would that be?

We did get Saurians back. Just a bit more creative then regular dinos lol.

These superstars

I admit, It would be rather interesting fighting them in gw2.

Their Necro versions combined with earthen skin elementalists and I believe it's a dervish too, makes it quite a tough group... as they almost always come in groups of 3-6.

Two words:
Eldritch Horrors.

Could make for a very interesting Sylvari  story.

A nightmare court experiment.

They create those using mordrem test subjects.

I'm getting a brainstorm here.

Someone else suggested in another of my posts

...that we all should go back to our races respective homes, and continue personal story where we left off before the dragons.

Well, this could be part of Sylvari personal story.

No, I'm thinking horrors from the Deep that Soo Won was apparently keeping at bay. The horrors that have been pushing Quaggan, Karka, and Largos to the surface waters.

I want a GW2 version of Cthulhu to rise up and mind-kitten everyone. The Devs have dabbled in horror a little here and there, I would love a full horror inspired expansion or LW season, from start to finish.

I doubt they'll ever go any further than barely scratching the surface, like they did in season 5, if they want to keep their age rating at 12.

Given how EoD turned out, I also doubt that even writing something semi-terrifying is within the capabilities of the current developers.

Oh those creepy things!

And yeah, the Tyrannus would be neat. I think his spot got kinda filled with the stonehead though. I wouldn't mind if they brought back Tyannus and https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ceratadon if we visited some of the areas in GW2 tarnished coast/maguuma that we haven't been to before.

gotta say, +1 on the horror angle. no specific mythical creatures per say, but would love to see more stuff like what we got in the bastion of the penitent, with the dark souls - like Samarog and setting. bring on the twisted, horrible monsters i say.

You mean....like a Nuckelavee?!?  😁
