What happened to the GW2 Twitch channel?

Yeah, they were showing off EoD stuff on Twitch, and people were complaining about the things they were showing off, how fishing, skiffs and whatever else shouldn't be shown off, whatever was shown there were people complaining that Anet is showing that instead of something else.

Now Anet's not bothering to show anything and there's complaints about them not showing off anything.

But that was months before release and everything was still labeled "work in progress" and didn't leave a very good impression therefore.

Now, doing a live stream a week before release would certainly be a very different experience. 😉

Sad but true.

Before EoD the GW2 Twitch channel was abuzz with hype and previews.  Before SotO it is dead. Really dead.  They have not streamed in 23 days.   Did they lose their video team?

cuz it's dlc, not expansion

edit: what i mean, thers not alot to show

The real trolling is in the name: Secrets of the Obscure. They're more or less telling us they're not going to tell us.

secret, adj.,

: kept from knowledge or view : hidden
: marked by the habit of discretion : closemouthed
: working with hidden aims or methods : undercover
: not acknowledged : unavowed
: remote from human frequentation or notice : secluded
: revealed only to the initiated : esoteric
: designed to elude observation or detection
: containing information whose unauthorized disclosure could endanger national security

obscure, adj.,

: dark, dim
: shrouded in or hidden by darkness
: not clearly seen or easily distinguished
: not readily understood or clearly expressed
: relatively unknown

Its like when you think the Anet marketing team couldn't get any worse, they manage to just stop doing one of the avenues they did do for hype build up/exposure
Though quite often you realise the only people they advertise too... are people already playing the game. EoD was an expansion, this is just a living world we are paying for with other system changes that just happen to be happening at the same time. They most like don't want this exposed.

There's probably not enough content for a big marketing push, compared to previous expansions.

I don't know in comparison to ESO though, as that seems to have a dozen dlcs every other year aswell, but that's Bethesda.

It's okay though, they are giving us twitch drops to artificially inflate the viewership next week, until it drops back to normal.

Honestly the beat marketing strategy for this expac is show as little as possible because I suspect that is not much substance. A good analogy is Joe Biden during the primaries, the best strategy was for him to stay in his basement and not say anything dumb to kitten people off, and look where he is now.

So far every feature announcement has had some sorta backlash. Relics pissed off people with legendary runes. The rift hunting trailer was met with was complains of over recycled assets. Even the new battlepass is being met with complaints.

And some streamers who have started moving away from GW2 will be back just for the event to boost their viewership. And many viewers will be there just for the drops.

Cynical capitalism at its best.
