Thoughts on Charr Faces?

Does anyone else wish male charr had faces that either didn't have spikes that clip through headgear, or didn't have faces badly in need of a dentist?

Like this NPC has a way higher-quality: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Bangar_Ruinbringer.jpg#/media/File:Bangar_Ruinbringer.jpg

But male charr faces available to players are otherwise like this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:Charr_male_faces.jpg#/media/File:Charr_male_faces.jpg

Most of them look like they're in dire need of a dentist or are incredibly constipated, and two examples that don't have spikes on the eyebrows or cheeks that clip through any headgear you wear and even your own hair with most of it. Why is there this idea that ugly = fierce, if that's what they were going for?

As an avid Charr fan from day 1 (despite having played gw1) it's my favorite race. I think the faces are fine but they could give a bit more love to the Charr. The whole character customization needs to be overhauled.
At least we get to use every horn type for a charr and it's not gated by gender. I only play male characters but I liked some of the female charr horns. Now I can have them on my male charr. I love Charr

There are the old school, classic, Charrs and there are already the newer, streamlined, ones.

Bangar, like Crecia, are unique. Invented in and for the ice brood saga. You won't find any similar looking ones like those two. They both look too tame. Bangar always reminded me of Scar from Lion King, and he turned out to be a wimp too.
Almorra is a classic Charr. Rytlock too but with him they hide his fangs so they don't stick out of his snout when he talks in cinematics (which has clipping because his canines are too long).

Among the female faces is one that one wouldn't even recognize as female: https://i.postimg.cc/DZTYDdMj/gw413e.jpg

Charrs like I never wanted to see, but once it happened accidentally it burned into my memory and now it's too late to get the respect back: https://i.postimg.cc/wBN9DpPC/gw315e.jpg

Charrs existed before GW2 already.
They migrated from GW1 and there they were hostile to the player. I mean a devourer isn't beautiful either, like most hostile monsters.

It's the joy of non-human races. They're very hard to rig for and will always have clipping-- especially if they're a race with a tail.

I will go ahead and bang the drum of Anet: please give us Crecia and Bangar's faces. Ty Ily.

Yeah, exactly. You can be a monster cat-man without looking like you ran face-first into a wall with teeth as big as your claws, and like I said, some of these faces clip with their own hair thanks to having weird eyebrow spikes. Not sure why charr have those.

It's still nice to have options for those of us that don't like the ugly or mega-toothy faces.

That is how Charr look. Bangar was an absolute exception and resembled the bad guy from the "Lion King" movie.

Yep, and Pyre Fierceshot was kind of a "pretty boy" in terms of Charr looks in that game. Most of them were far more aesthetically unpleasant to human eyes.

Unrelated HotO side note: Disappointed that they apparently couldn't get the original female Charr voice actor back for the expac. The difference is very obvious, and almost as disorienting. As in, "oh wait, that's not someone else talking, that's what my character's voice sounds like in new story episodes now."

I love the snarly, gnarly faces of charr.  They're unforgiving and unapologetic in their appearance, and really work nicely for grizzled veterans of combat.  I assume that's just how they look, as opposed to looking like kittens.

However, I always welcome more faces...some more gentle ones or pretty ones, sure why not?

She was changed in 2019 how come you just now noticed it in the new story?

Kate Miller - Female charr player character (2012–2019)

Mara Junot - Female charr player character (2019 onward)

Faces! It's charr necks that would draw chiropractors from all over Tyria to the Black Citadel! If Tyria had chiropractors, that is. Which it surely does, considering how many charr there are, and every single one with a charr neck! If Tyria doesn't have any native chiropractors, it's a thousand wonders that's not what's coming out of all the rifts -- 'Charropractors' . . . from the Mists! 💲

I don't disagree. The more options the better. If it was the way I would like it to be, character creation would be like Sims.
I was already disappointed that SotO came without new horns, faces, patterns or anything new.

My latest created Charr is male: https://i.postimg.cc/cC2gkQQ9/gw385-2.jpg
I think he doesn't look ugly, even with the "spikes" around his eyes. It fits. They give him character.

No one likes the ugly. But some accept that some don't look like from the next fashion magazine and accept "flaws".

Yeah. That's the face I use myself, almost entirely because it has a good-looking snout and no teeth bigger than my charr's claws jutting everywhere. The eyebrow and cheek spikes clip into the hair and headwear something fierce though from what I've seen.

Just  so you know Canach was changed aswell if you go back and play through eod that is.

Good to know. But honestly an NPC's voice being different isn't really the same kind of disconnect, you don't hear that voice every time you get a boon/condition, leave a vendor ("time to go"), and so on. 😜

I probably won't notice it much overall tbh, I only run alts through the story steps they need to unlock zones or other essential content. I doubt she'll be hearing much more from Canach.

Awww, l love the ugly faces. Makes me feel like a real beast race rather than a big cat. Of the four charr l have, only one l would describe as pretty.

I can't say I've ever really noticed much clipping with the spikes and hats myself. My issue has always been with certain headwear completely deleting my charr's long hair. I know other games learned to substitute a flatter version of the hair for hats, but I know the counter point is always "other priorities".
