Why is Heart of the Mists so ugly?

It literally looks the same (just divided up into islands so pvpers have a reason to buy gem store skin items) as the old Heart of the mists? For gw2 being a very aesthetically good looking game.. why does heart of the mists look like trash? Anets current excuse is that it is suppose too look battle scarred or something..

I kind of agree with this now that I think about it. It should be shiny, clean, and expansive. Make it glorious!

@ArenaNet the spvp lobby needs some love :(

It's cause I took a dump in the old mists and somehow I ripped a hole in the space time continuum and what we got now is the end result...

To be honest the heart of the mists look like a pile of shit. No art, just broken buildings/no color. Depressing af.

Pretty sure the new heart of the mists looks much better. The old heart of the mists was just a collection of assets from core tyria all piled together

TBH, literally what looks different from the old heart of the mists to the new one? added fountains ? lmfao.... they literally just copy pasted the same textures while making odd looking floating islands.

My only concern is that, the dull colors do not help to the people in pvp's mentality; seeing all that depressing colors, dull music and "dead" theme is kinda downing. I would like to see nice colors, pretty colors, an area that it is nice to AFK even. Colors like the Aurene room in El Dorado; nice "happy" shades of blue/green and gold, shiny and magical/mystical. It just might help improve PvP player's overall underlaying "mood", just a thought.

A new flashy one would be better though, I agree. For a place called "Heart of the Mists" it really isn't too special. Should look more like the Hall of Heroes in GW1, but with the floating islands we have (and maybe a bit less glorious than HoH).

I agree on one hand, on the other I'm afraid Arena make it into flashy -sparkling, purplish place with unicorns x.x

I'd love a necropolis theme, with dark ambiant music, choirs, screams of the defeated, rivers of blood and mountains of cristallized Sodium Chloride. Also rain of tears and dead unicorns.

Lol pvp community is so toxic. Constantly finding something to complain about on the forums.

The irony

Because Anet hates PvP and do not stop to troll us until the last player stopped playing this game mode. After that WvW will be next target. Expand the voice of the new map to all other maps will help a lot to make this process faster btw, just a tip @ArenaNet

The old map was way better since you could round up all the npcs if you wanted and fight them with the class npcs. They had a old tutorial area but for some reason got rid of it. If they converted the old water arena area into a ffa arena they would have been way better off.

The new one looks great. The old one made me depressed looking at it. Maybe it was the dim purple sky.

I like the old one cuz there were a lot more places to explore, like this one:

It’s much better than the old one for sure.But I agree hotm is mostly a depressing place, and I would make it more like Tarir personally.Or atleast add some nice looking areas kind of like the fractal lobby JP waterfalls etc.

I like depressing places and songs. It calms my soul. Makes me feel good. I like graveyards.

What mostly bothers me personally is the ambient music. Or rather, the lack of it. I would love it if there were some drum-based march-ish music or something.

There's custom music, but i wish we could make a mists playlist.
