DirectX 11 Graphics Issues

So few times a GPU driver update actually fixes anything. In Bug Wars 2, a lot of it comes down to the game.

I've been waiting years for a DX11 UBER bloom bug fix which myself and others have reported and Arena Net has acknowledged, The foot-dragging for a thick tome of thousands upon thousands of lacking bug fixes is something I refuse to no longer support.

DX9 post-processing worked flawlessly. When DX11 beta came out, many places with bright surfaces became extremely bright because of excessive bloom - as if it had somehow been doubled. Ideally I'd be able to turn bloom off separately from other post-processing effects, but since this game was made in 1807, based on a game engine created in the year 1481 (presumably by amateur coders with poor organisational skills and little foresight), I imagine that ol "spaghetti code" is one of the lame reasons it won't ever get fixed. Although in actuality, it's probably a case of: "0.001% of the players get this issue... therefore the problem does not exist".

This DX11 bloom bug has been with me across 2 GPUs (two different computers actually) from two different GPU vendors, a ridiculous number of GPU updates, two different OSes with countless updates, different monitors, different connectivity (HDMI / DVI / DP), reinstalling Windows, using DDU, blah blah blah, reinstalling the game, repairing the game client... etc. It's a game problem. Now maybe more people have it than they realise, but I have two eyes in my face holes and I am quite perceptive, so when I see that ridiculously blinding, almost AoE circle-obscuring bloom (Dragon's End and Lion's Arch bank/octo are great examples of how it looks) to me it is obvious. If I can't see properly during combat so I am forced to turn of post-processing entirely because Anet can't be bothered to fix it, I'll turn it off - losing other effects - but I won't go buy their expansions. There's plenty of other content within the game already to allow me to slowly catch up - that and I don't agree with the new business model.

Back to OP (sorry for hijacking your post a little), these look like grid lines for where things are placed, or it could just be for the map coordinates.

Is your fps setting in game set to unlimited?  I noticed some weird lag when I have mine set to unlimited and even fps number said it was in triple digits, but everything looked choppy.  When I limited it to 60 fps, it was more smooth.

Any news about ruined ingame font with borderless fullscreen mode with dx11? I can not play the game for months now because devs are incompetent and can not fix easy thing (yes, easy because if they can not fix it the proper way they should have just let us use dx9 which worked fine). They say they are working on it but it literally is months now. Many players can not play because of it and it should be their priority, we can not even play xpac that we preordered.

Since this wvw event i cant play wvw cause the major graphical issues 3/4 of textures are going black doesn't matter what setting i have graphics on, weird tree structures by wild creek in ebg that was just for starters, so i did a driver install, mind not happening in any other games, just seems to be gw2 wvw maps affected like this for me. AMD 6950xt  RD win 11 just a new hamster, going to look for fixes and i don't do any sort of addons for gw2

This appears to be a new bug that started with Tuesday's patch.  I got it too during an hour long 3-way blob fight in SMC.  It would clear up after leaving the area and then return after returning to the blob fights.

I would just like to add to the numbers. I have been experiencing this bug as well. @Rubi Bayer.8493 can we get feedback on the current plan to fix this?

At one point I had to relog because my whole screen turned black in the middle of a meta. It seems not just that but the overall performance is bad. I know that it takes time to untangle the gw2 code. However, I know that the studio update stated that once the switch to dx11 the performance and graphics will be looked at as the next project.

Please let us know what the situation is regarding the overall graphical and performance issues. Seeing as it is very frustrating when playing a game on a PC that runs high-tier games smoothly but on GW2 we struggle to maintain good frames/Stable graphics.

Thank you too, it is not that the game is blurry, only the font in the game. I will try to find a post where I linked the screen. Support say its issue with windows 11 and dx11 (only in borderless fullscreen) but we can not play in dx9 anymore so...

         And it is like this in whole game basically, since I moved to windows 11. Even with dx9 I had this issue if I played in borderless window, but I could just switch to exclusive fullscreen...now we can not anymore cause Anet removed the option.

So after the last patch this is what is happening to my graphic when i face a big zerg in world vs world.Everything turn to kitten after a big fight.

So before i could face 3 way zerg on medium (Character model limit) and  with good fps now i can only face one zerg at the lowest texture and iam getting like 12fps instead been in the 60.

Similar things happening to me, only since last patch.

After meta events with many people and/or zerg fights, certain textures, icons, etc. just don't load at all for me (transparent/invisible) or they turn black.

Also, on Dragon Storm I just got a green screen instead of the cinematic that's playing after the first phases...

In the meantime I cleared my GW2 cache multiple times and also performed a client repair - neither of which helped 😞

Rendering pipeline is insanely overloaded in Amnytas and Wizard's Tower due to how detailed environment and not properly working culling. In some places even when structures are obscured from the view, they are still impacting fps when camera is facing them. Its extremely visible in amnytas where basically entire map is a city.

Setting Environment to Low from High  / Medium gives 20-30% fps boost on a new maps in some places. LOD Distance also helps, I lowered it to medium for 5-10 fps increase in the worst performant places in the Wizards Tower. Just remember to relog after changing it because LOD does not apply instantly otherwise.

Unfortunately, visual cost is noticeable, especially when changing environment to low

I'm having the same issues with black or missing textures. Even some of the items in my inventory are not showing. Even some character class icons are missing. It's becoming a headache.

GW2 is the ONLY game my pc is having this issue with.

I think we have everyone beat on graphical glitches. Behold the splendour of the bouncing beachball meta. Witness the majesty of the invisible bosom, and the perpetually red pants. 

There are also plenty of black textures, disappearing weapons, transparent maps--as mentioned in the thread above--but they mostly disappear with a game restart.

Annoying though, and sometimes utterly unplayable.

Had this happen earlier when I entered the first part of the SoTo story in Gendarran fields. Everything was fine until I entered the instance where you leave the watchtower and head back towards the Sketchy individuals camp. About an hour before I had done exactly the same with another character and no issues. After having completed this part and being ported to the Temple of Febe the graphic glitch resolved itself. I'm currently using the latest Nvidia driver 546.01 that was released yesterday.
