Add relics that give stealth or stability or alacrity

Recommended Posts

Right now there is no relic that gives stealth and only one that gives stability (and that one only gives you stab and not to allies). There are relics that give superspeed and some that give quickness but none that give alacrity. A lot of relics do dps, but only a few actually compete with the relic of thief for power dps or relic of fractal for condi dps so I don't get why there aren't more support oriented relics added. Right now only relic of monk and relic of karakosa are used by healers and scourge sometimes uses another for its lack of swiftness. Why not add a relic that gives aegis to allies or gives them stability or stealth? Relics would become a game changer instead of something niche.

I get why relics dont give alac or quick to allies, but there is no reason they shouldn't give aegis, stab or superspeed. I think a lot of players would appreciate a relic that gives allies superspeed because I hate doing escort events when I am not playing chrono or scrapper which give more easily superspeed.

Relic of the Pack gives superspeed to allies, so does Relic of the Unseen Invasion

Relic of the Cavalier also gives you Aegis

I get what you're driving at though and the above are probably far too conditional for what you want, especially Cavalier.

We can only hope that future releases expand upon the whole Relic concept a little more, and in more interesting ways.

Relic pack only gives 4 seconds for elite skills and with an internal CD of 30 seconds. Relic of unseen invasion can only be used by thief and mesmer properly because the others dont have access to stealth so superspeeed is still hard to give unless you are a properly traited chrono or scrapper.

Relic of cavalier gives you aegis after using a mount, only appliable in open world, not places like dungeons, fractals or strikes.

Stealth on elite use then?

Because there will be absolutely 0 Gunflame related reasons why that is a bad idea. Right?

It's not just "gunflame related reasons", it's just a bad idea as a whole

My mesmer already has an elite skill that grants mass stealth.  I suppose vanishing as I turn someone into a moa may be useful.

But yeah if they made these relics, I expect that the devs would give the relics complicated or inconvenient triggers.

I suspect that the devs don't want to make support characters redundant.

"Squad leader can we recruit an alac support?"

"You already have alac support at home."

In story instances for key farming it would actually be great

No, kitten that. I want Aurene mode to sponatenously trigger in WvW as I farm for a Gift of Battle.

The reason we don't see more of these effects easily accessible is the same reason why these effects SHOULDN'T be easily accessible:

1. far to strong effects. We just got out of a time where superspeed was easily given permanently. Alacrity was just now cut significantly in WvW (and honestly, some of the other boons might benefit from being less accessible)

2. stealth is already problematic and without a proper solution for counter play, giving easier access to it seems unwise

3. amount of relics seeing use in meta builds is never an argument for more power creep but rather for better balanced effects. Reasoning here being simple: builds will usually only run the most beneficial relic, making a new relic most beneficial will simply shift the meta relic used

In fact, I'd say super speed AND quickness should be removed from existing relics.

Yes, it's almost as though the developers are wary of putting certain effects on relics which are available to all classes. There is a reason for that.

How about no, no, and no? Just for balance's sake.

The way to fix Stability is to make the effect relative rather than absolute and once relative it can be given to more, We already have a way to avoid CC, and its called Dodge.. The various CC abilities just need better telegraphs so people can react to them.

Stealth is already OP beyond reason in competitive environments and at the same time utterly useless.

Alacrity is WAY to prevalent. The game needs less Alacrity to be closer to balance. The ideal amount would be 0 sources, the same with Quickness sources.

I'm not holding my breath since they took away the only rune effect that gave stealth at all. And I think you might underestimate the effect your suggestion would have on the competitive modes.

Wouldn't it be cool if...

"When you use an Elite Skill summon a golem to fight at your side. When summoned it applies Stealth, Stability and Alacrity to you and your party."
(also the golem is a catgolem)

"improved" original design to make it even cooooler

Ok. I hear your constructive criticism. We can can improve and make it even cooler....

Relic of the...i don't know...Golemancer...or something....
Upon entering combat spawn a catgolem to fight by your side. For its duration the golem pulses "Aura of Awesomness"
"Aura of Awesomness": Removes revealed, grants stealth, superspeed, quickness, alacrity and stability to you and your allies.
Number of targets 5
(Also, the golem is now champion sized)

Now we have made it even cooler, removed bothersome things like not having superspeed or not being stealthed. Who wouldn't like to run this? So it has to be perfect. 12/10 bestest relic ever made. It's so cooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!
