swgs.6195
Last night (at least it was night wher I was, but that doesn't matter) James Cameron unveiled his new project: Avatar Fire and Ash. He presented new tribe ov Na'Vi and then showed some of the concept art made for new Avatar. Not only it's animation looks similar to GW2 but I was shocked when I saw this. https://imgur.com/FBEegHr https://imgur.com/g8gHMuH Pact ships? Danikat.8537
Neither flying reptiles (or reptile-like creatures) or airships are unique to GW2. They're both real-life things which get adapted into a lot of sci-fi and fantasy settings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airship https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pterosaur 8

kiroho.4738
At best they "stole" the idea (neither airships nor flying dinosaurs are something Anet invented), but they definitely did not steal art. None of your linked images show GW2 artwork. Your accusation is just false. 2
Farohna.6247
I really get more Jules Verne and steampunk vibes, which are hardly unique to GW2, and depictions of what people thought things would look like in the future. Flying dinosaur/dragon/reptile are part of human mythology and in sooooo many stories. Me thinks you give too much credit to GW2 for its influence.

ugrakarma.9416
Avatar "movie" is cringe, but nothing is more cringey than "rebel moon". 2
Ashen.2907
There were Hollywood depictions of swords and armor long before GW came on the scene, did Anet steal from Hollywood?
Ghastly.3914
Nope, not a 1 to 1 copy. Everything that comes out of hollywood is trash but I can't file a suit against that unfortunately.

Ashantara.8731
Such designs have existed for ages and were not invented by the GW2 designers: https://www.google.at/search?q=fantasy+airships&udm=2
Maria Murtor.7253
Funny, because it's exactly what it reminds me off before even looking at the google link: The airship design from Final Fantasy, especially Final Fantasy 9.

Stealing good ideas and putting your own spin on them rather than trying to reinvent the wheel every time is how we get even better ideas (like laser gun greatswords).
Perisemiotics.4579
you mean the Baby Tengu skyscale skin in pic #2? that one hasn't been released to the gemstore yet afaik 😉
Liewec.2896
they do look very similar, but we've had fictional flying balloon ships for a long time. the pact ships remind me of the Caspartine from Stardust (apologies for naff quality but this is the only video i could find on youtube :P) and that is from 2007, 5 years before GW2. Check drama with Star Wars and stolen art. 2
