I just did the daily DRMs, and since Fireheart Rise has a lot of uneven terrain, it was extremely noticeable...
This has been going on for three months now, and we still have not received any official statement on behalf of this awful bug. My character has been roaming Tyria in weird angles for that long, and it starts looking comical.
It makes the game look like the devs don't know how to program character alignment according to the laws of gravity, but we all know that is not true, because it wasn't the case prior to a patch from late December/early January - before, it used to be an occasional bug, now it's the rule.
It is happening everywhere (not just in WvW) and mostly with weapons drawn:
Is anyone working on a fix or is the game simply going to look like this from now on?
Comments
For some, and others it does not affect, at all.
I wonder what those affected have in common.
I wonder that, too. It's been happening to me a lot, as well. It's disorienting, especially when you're trying to make it up narrow ledges. Thus far, it has only been affecting my human characters, but I have seen reports of it happening with the Norn as well.

Are you certain? I don't know what game modes you play and how much you fight on uneven terrain, but I - personally - don't know a single player who isn't affected by it. It mostly seems to happen when you character has their weapon drawn and enters fight mode, but sometimes it also happens with weapons stowed simply walking across uneven grounds.

Usually it happens to me after I have been pushed or pulled in game.
Silly creature, I wont let you die.
Happens to me on my sylvari Daredevil every so often, for no reason at all. Drawing my character's weapon seems to fix it for a long while, then it starts up again seemingly at random.

It seems this has been updated regularly recently to make your character more even with slopes. It might be completely intentional, but with a few bugs on older terrain.

You don’t know a single person not affected... I don’t know a single person that is affected by it, and if they are they haven’t mentioned it while I’ve been online (5-10 hours per day) and I haven’t seen on my screen anyone that looks out of place.
It doesn't matter how long it takes to achieve something, its not the end result that matters, its the journey you take to get there.

It seems mandatory to say "Please don't be tilted about this", so forgive me. I couldn't help it.
But I've also checked on this for you and people are looking into it.

It has been happening to me semi-regularly, regardless of which map. I think mainly on my human characters. It seems to happen randomly, not necessarily with weapons drawn.
My character will suddenly, violently tilt to a near 45 degree angle, swing back upright, tilt again etc. all depending on ?? I have no idea. The angle is almost always at 45 degrees & can swing left or right, back upright etc.
At first I stopped in place to see what the heck was going on, but couldn't see a reason. Never saw anyone else in chat, or here on the forum mention it, so I just accepted that this was some new tease for an updated event of some kind, that I was unaware of.
Lately I was starting to think it was just me... so thank you to @Ashantara.8731 for calming an old lady's fears.
The worst part is that it definitely makes me feel physically sick when it happens. I've never had vertigo, but imagine this is a pretty good simulation of an episode of that.

If it helps any, I find this happens far more often on a thief running Daredevil and Bounding Dodger than any other class.

I've killed 3 Elder Dragons and a God... I laugh in the face of gravity!!!.. and physics XD
I have actually noticed this as well, seems to happen a lot more on my Daredevil than it does on my other classes.. and i'm also using Bounding Dodger as well.
Happens on my Guardian alot.
The only character I've noticed this on is my Norn Guardian. One place I've seen it happen a few times is at the Krait Tower in Nonmoa Lake, Timberline Falls, as my character climbs up the wooden spars making up the tower.
I've also noticed it, mostly on the Krait structures in old Tyria (Timberline Falls and Mount Maelstrom). At first it was funny watching them tilt from side to side while they ran up the spars. It did get a little annoying after a while. Thanks for looking into it.
Sooooo tilted by this comment, too!

Thanks for the info!
Hah, anytime!

I experience this bug very often when I'm playing Holosmith. The main trigger appeared to be "Overcharged Shot", the rifle number four skill that launches your foe and does a self knock-back. I did some testing in Armistice Bastion, and I was able to trigger the bug with almost 100% success rate by using overcharged shot to knock myself back on a specific patch of uneven terrain.
Edit: When the bug triggers, it seems to stay in effect until I re-log.
This bug has been in the game forever has it not?
Anet buff me :-(
Make me good at game!
These green bars that shoot out just started yesterday for me. For anyone looking for a common denominator, so far based on what others have said, I don't match any of them. I was playing my level 80 Human Ranger / Soulbeast when the green bars started shooting out. There is nothing special about my build, weapons etc., very ordinary. There is nothing special about my computer & I don't use any added programs, just the regular client.
On the positive side, I was following World Bosses, so I was on a lot of maps, with lots of running around, all types of terrain & not once did my character tilt! Really felt good! I can live with the green bars, but was having a hard time with the tilting, so if it's a temporary trade off, I'll take the bars.

Funny thing, first time i noticed this bug was in the LWS4 stance were they say Kralkatoric was tearing reality appart, felt very fitting at the time lmao.
Yes please! I just came back to the game this month and the first thing I noticed was my character would run and stand horizontal and tilted whenever the ground was a hill or bumpy. Its freaky looking, what changed that caused this? So unless im on completely flat ground they lean and tilt. I will start taking screens and you can see what I mean.
Coo! Quaggan Love's You! ♥♥♥
It used to happen when you used an emote like /sit and dodged out of that, but it now happens regardless of what you have done. And while it was funny at first, it's becoming really annoying. Most prominently i noticed it on my Deadeye, but it happens on other classes too.
Sorry.

The cause of this seems to be getting cc'd (knocked down, pushed back, launched, etc.) by an enemy mob in the middle of an animation. Resetting the character model via mapchange or the use of a tonic are the only ways that fix it, but obviously it should not happen at all.
Nope thats not the case with me, it can happen in LA just running around the town.
Coo! Quaggan Love's You! ♥♥♥
Typing an emote like /point seems to fix the tilting position. I just want to leave that here as an advice.
That's not really an option. You can't use an emote 24/7 when playing WvW or DRMs, you have to focus on other stuff as you are constantly in-fight.
The only real fix would be a repair of the code that is causing the issue.

It's more of a bandaid fix/ help to fix your character tilt if that happens out of combat to you.
Did you happen to fall off from a height that triggered the knockdown animation, during that run-around?
This is complete unrelated to any knockdowns or the like. It just happens. All the time.

Hey, I want to report this bug to see if there is any solution of it happen to others. I've had it sometimes on other characters but not too noticeable to be annoying.
I've been mapping from 0 to 100% a fresh character (daredevil) and I've realized that sometimes the character its just inclined while moving. It's annoy me a lot because character just move a bit weird specially on ramps. Here is a video about what I mean:
https://youtu.be/tIGWX44UWdk
Here is how you move normally, if you want to compare the character's inclination.
https://youtu.be/Cf7RVJzVLi4
Does anyone know how to fix or minimize it? I think I get that inclination issue after using staff 5 or staff 2 often, after dismounting, or idk...
Excuse me for my english and I hope you can understand what I mean. I didn't get that issue that often like now. Oh, and you can "fix" it relogging but it usually come back after a few actions.
Good day.
You need to edit link to second video as it has "https.//" twice (in the link that are actually directing to web site). You don't see in until you use edit or re-post it.

Anet is aware of this issue. This is what they posted in the bug report forum.

This year, it now happens in SAB as well.

The first time I saw it happening was in Josh Foreman's stream replaying SAB in 2020. His party's buddy suddenly tilted like that. Now I come back to play SAB 2021 and it happens like almost all the time.
Indeed. It makes some of the around-the-corner jumps in tricky areas harder for me as I am getting seasick watching my character tilt to one side all the time.

It seems to be triggered by skills/abilities that "displace" your character in some way or form.
So it is bound to happen a lot more to people who play classes that have some kind of teleport skills, dashes, etc. or content where knock backs and the like are common.
I bet those who claimed being unaffected will encounter the bug the first time they get hit by a spider in SAB. Or anything really, since in there most types of DMG seems to come with a knockback/knock down attached. Not even talking about jumping rocks in Tribulation Mode 😅
As written before, it is now happening in SAB. What "displacement" skill do we have there? Oh, that's right: pushes and pulls.

P.S.
These are all situations in which the character wasn't near an enemy, yet the tilting occured (I've made screenshots with and without weapons drawn):

It happens on my rev all the time in combat. Although minor it's so annoying... don't play much anymore because of it.
I noticed that even "fall dmg" is enough for it to trigger sometimes. Even though fall dmg per se does not exist in SAB, as soon as you fall far enough your character "face plants" - that might be what's triggering it - need to test this again once I'm home from work.
Might be some adjustments in the game physics that brought back this old bug... Maybe even related to adjustments made to SAB, since those are usually being worked on quite some time before its release. As far as I remember from dev interviews, making SAB work at all required quite some tinkering with game physics.
Perhaps we will get some feedback from the devs on this (regarding what's causing it).
Well... the past couple of years, I did not have it happen even once in SAB (and I played the Tribulation Mode 96 times for the infusions without it occuring at all). So I hope this gets fixed soon, it has become majorly annoying and disruptive.

True, the bug first appeared years ago, but was fixed for a long time until it reoccurred just recently. I also had no problems in my many Tribulation runs last year (at least not the character tilting one - the trampolines though... well...).
This is not the only bug that reappeared - the Weaver skills getting messed up when using mounts also got much worse recently. Might have merged some old code into the live build or something...
However, all we can do here is guesswork and provide as much information regarding which skills/actions trigger it in order to make tracking down the root cause of the bug easier.
After playing SAB for 4 days
... I can now say this with certainty:
Ergo, the tilting issue is occuring by itself and has no specific triggers. And it's happening all the time, with very few exceptional moments.
♀ Gallery: Guild Wars 1 Memories

Here is one reproduceable trigger - as I already said. Being hit by anything that causes knock down/back:

Note the non-tilting before being hit. Same happens when being hit by a monkey, spider, etc. -> The claim that there is "no trigger" is simply not correct. It's just that there are several, some of which might not be that easy to spot.
I got this without even being in combat on my human ele yesterday, just walking up a sloped surface.
