I'm tired at multiclassing

Hey guys, after playing the game for years and playing every single class at a decent level in both spvp and wvw roaming, I want to finally focus on only and make it to become my main, so people recognise me for playing that class only, and I know you will be stronger if you main a single class and master it instead of being average at all of them (even tho it was good to understand all the mechanics).

I really don't know which one to choose, I tried before, playing it for weeks than suddenly I got superior outplayed and called trash and I switched again.

I don't have a particular class that I am better or I like the most, because I like them all unfortunately.

Any tips or ideas what I could do?

Understand why people are calling you trash and you will have an easier time enjoying whichever profession you choose.

Let's assume you have a learning curve, and you are not at the bottom, but not at the top.  This means that you can learn more, and move further up the curve.  Someone calling you trash is simply an impolite way of saying you have more to learn.  And that is the point of this exercise right, to pick a profession and to learn everything about it and eventually master it.

If someone is impolite to you because they know more than you do, either challenge them to teach you, or block and move on with your life.  You won't get better at any profession if you don't learn from your mistakes, and being able to get advice from others who can see your shortcomings will help speed up that process.  Of course, trolls be trolling and might double down on being impolite when you ask for help, so, again block and move on if that happens.

I have found in WvW there are a lot of people who will help you with your chosen profession and build as they want to foster a stronger community with long term players.  You can even ask them to help you understand why someone else may have called you trash.  I have got some very good help in WvW in the past and have a friends list of players from WvW who offered to help me with any little thing that came up, simply because I took the chance to ask in map or squad chat for help.

I can relate, although no ones called me trash verbally.

But I do have times where I get absolutely wrecked and it's alike I lose confidence in my ability to play rhe proffession, which leads to me almost having to play a different proffession before I start performing well again.

Thief is my favorite personally, although I walk away from it alot as I feel I suck at it.

My only real advice I could give is take the proffessions that offers you the most opportunities and things you do like, I.e ones you could play any elite of and still enjoy. And can fill the roles your after

Such as duelling or wanted in zergs, do you want a team fighter or a roamer in spvp.

Then your gonna just have to fight through that initial process of not swapping characters and focusing on what you did wrong and how to change that.

If you can find someone willing to duel you that can provide benefit. If you cant get anyone to help however a second option can be to record yourself playing.

Watch yourself at the end and try and spot where you could have done things differently

Multiclassing is the way to be good at competitive, so you do the right thing. If you want to main one class - chose class which is always in meta - that is Engineer, revenants, guardian, necro and maybe thief.

I mostly get trash talked in spvp due to being at the wrong place (bad rotation from me or I get focused by 2 ppl all game and my team does... things while I kite all over the map).

In wvw just ignore, its usually silent. But when wvw gets toxic, spvp toxicity doesn't compare even remotely.

For picking a class, rev and thief have been the highest skill players I've fought with/against in both modes. Not to say those professions are good choices.

You dont really have to multi class. its fine to know how to play other classes to understand how the work and the options they have (particularly more so in competitive modes) however you really only need to play what you like if someone wants you to play something else understand it is your option to do it.  In pve Most classes in the game now have at least one strong dps and one critical support option (quick or alac) so you really can just stick to your fav base profession more so these days and play that 90% of the time.

I have the same problem. I've been playing around 6 months or so and the first 3 months I quit after getting burnt out trying all the different classes. I ended up getting frustrated due to me not being able to pick a "main".

I'm back now and still have the same issue. I really like Thief, I'm a DE spec. It's really neat but if a mob looks at you then I die. Another reason I've been having issues with picking is I'm basing a lot of my choices on the new EoD Elites, a lot of them don't seem that great to me but I'm just a casual noob at the end of the day.

It is questions like this, OP, that make me question the idea of multi-classing. The phrase as it is said: jack of all trades, master of none. As a warrior main, warrior is in a currently not-so-good state. My seven-year experience is literally weathering me through the storm.

They've all been out of the meta at one point or another in at least one mode if not all, it's just post-PoF that they've pretty much always been good enough.

That said, at this point it feels like it'd be hard for Arenenet to nerf any of this five into irrelevance now.

The trick is probably to look for versatility - the more things a profession CAN do, the less likely you'll find a situation where it won't help you. Beyond that, it depends in part on which modes you're looking at and what you're looking to do. If I had to choose just one in the current environment, though, I'd probably go with guardian or engineer: both have done fairly well in sPvP, WvW zergs, and roaming for a while, and in PvE they each have decent builds for power, condi, healing, alacrity and quickness. So they're probably the two professions where you're most likely to always be able to say 'We need X? I have a build for that.' Might not always be the BEST build - alacbender hasn't really picked up much traction, for instance - but that's the price you pay for specialising in one profession. Mesmer is close, but tends not to fare well in competitive because people who don't know how to play against it scream nerf any time it actually starts making an impact on the meta.

Personally, though, I tend to specialise in builds more than professions. While builds of different professions do vary more in the skills required to play them than builds within a profession, having 5-8 builds over, say, 3-5 professions probably isn't too much harder than mastering that many builds on one profession, and may compensate for the added complexity by offering more efficiency when you do. Certainly, in my experience, a bit of flexibility is appreciated in static and semi-static groups.

Man, I know your pain, somewhat, I don't PvP, but I struggle with sticking to a class, especially since the classes I am interested in are, apparently considered trash/mediocre so I just kinda struggle to have any sort of major attachment to any character I make since the classes I try aren't 100% something I am into or anything.

Play the class style you like the most.

Don't focus on multi classing to classes you hate but play because it happens to be viable now play a class you enjoy.

I play ele and mes a lot and thief because i enjoy the playstyles. I find ele fun to change elements i find chrono interesting because of the illusions and running away. I like playing druid because i really enjoy support classes.

Advice ...

1. play what you want, you determine the criteria for that
2.  ignore people that call you trash, regardless if you are or not.

3. play with people that won't call you trash.

Preach.

Also, use your experience with multiclassing to learn the matchups!
