Does this now mean Alliances is officially dead? It has been on life support for (arguably) a while, but certainly since the Lead Designer left in April/May. Or does it only mean that there will be no Alliance BETA weeks in the near future? Or does this mean forever now? RisingDawn.5796 Posted September 14, 2023 Share Posted September 14, 2023 World vs. World Restructuring and Alliances Since 2021, the WvW team has spent most of their time working on the World Restructuring system, a WvW infrastructure overhaul intended to produce fairer and more engaging matchups for WvW. It’s a complicated system, which you can learn more about here. Up until recently, we have been considering the Alliance management UI a required part of shipping the World Restructuring system, which means that players are not currently getting much value from all of the work we have already put in. Many of the backend functions for balance and matchmaking already work at the WvW guild level. It’s extremely valuable for us to get consistent live data from players about how it’s working for them, so getting that system permanently online is now our first priority. With the reprioritizing, we will not be opening the Alliances system to beta testing this year. We will refocus on delivering an always-on version of World Restructuring to players as soon as possible. From there we want to evaluate the new player experience, collect your feature requests, and monitor live data to allow us to make World Restructuring the best system that it can be. One major priority in the perpetually active version of World Restructuring is growing and tuning the various criteria we use for matchmaking to create our WvW teams. Our goal here is to build a system with enjoyable experiences across a variety of player types so matchups feel as rewarding as possible. Leger.3724 Posted September 14, 2023 Share Posted September 14, 2023 Dropping Alliances was a good idea. Making changes and having people monitor them is a much better idea. In an ideal world everyone who wants to play together should be able to play together but this would create horrific imbalances and totally destroy the new player experience as groups of the experience team up and absolutely destroy the new. Thanks for considering, Adzekul Reminder in case you missed it, they asked for event suggestions so don't miss the opportunity to add more WvW voices into the conversation as they asked: XP events are also just another event, and feel free to add others for consideration if you want them in WvW. I am somewhat wondering why its terrible though considering alliances as an idea was there to avoid an obvious organisation issue with world restructure, ie "forcing" people to join a community guild individually rather than as a group and potentially having to leave one of their guilds to make room. 1 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So every server would have a link. We have been saying delete a tier for years but server pride peeps are against it - ie the same peeps that are also against world restructure.
