They have more than one projectile block which is enough to neuter Lich DPS. Field of the Mists follows with you, so you can activate it, swap to a different weapon, and then DPS the Necro(s) hard.

That doesn't mean that Lich AA doesn't hit hard, it does. This is neither a statement in support of or against Lich Form.

It may be on an espec, but they are there.

Most of Lich Form's nastiness is either a projectile or requires you to be in close proximity. That and if you have boon corrupts it's trivial to counter Lich.

In most of my matches using lich form in a teamfight is just a ritualistic suicide. Everyone jumps you, your pulsing stab cannot keep up with the CC and you get grinded into the dirt within 3 seconds.Also what metabuild cannot deal with lich? If you can't LoS/reflect/block/evade/weaken/blind/booncorrupt/ interrupt... you deserve to die. The necro just used its most powerful cooldown by the time you have nothing left to counter.

It's how an elite skill with a long CD should feel.Plus; if it goes away, there's one less way for people to actually get downed.
