Quality-of-Life Requests and Suggestions (New for 2024)

+1 for Saveable transmog outfits. This doesn't seem hard to implement, and compliments the new inspect feature. KEEP the need to spend currency on transmog, but allow us to save the looks. It would only increase consumption of the transmog tokens, and it's tiresome to create an outfit for every holiday, only to have to screenshot it so I can remember how to create it a year later, etc.

Please add an option to customize what to display above the player model, if possible separate by game mode:

  • name
  • guild tag
  • title

Hiding titles would be the most important to me, esp. now that we have a multitude of different colors in the titles which adds a lot of visual distraction.

Hmm, appearance templates instead of build templates. I like this idea. I don't change my appearance often enough to really capitalize on it, but it sounds like a good idea to have appearance templates.

Seconded. I would like an option to make it so titles are only visible on mouse-over. It would reduce some screen clutter for sure 😄

I would love an NPC dedicated to trading unwanted/unneeded Black Lion Chest items. I'm not suggesting anything making gold but more of a substitution type system where we can trade items we have no use for and get a different Black Lion Chest item.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Please make it tradeable or add a new MF receipt for it. I would very much like to have alternatives. And please don't make it dependable yet again on Research Notes. It's getting annoying!

 

Or add alternative ways to make research notes. Example, they are a somewhat rare drop, not too rare and drops from doing fractals, meta events, map events etc. You need to make them easier to acquire, currently 10k Research Pages cost like a 100 and 30 gold. That's way too expensive!!!

 

I am reading interesting stuff about the legendaries weapons. You should really make the legendary weapon stats, sigils, etc bound to the build template or equipment template. That is what would most players expect.

Aquatic helms (breathers): The current state of having one piece of armor swap out (including attached upgrades) is untenable. Something should be done to finally address this oddity. There are two philosophies that can be followed:

  1. Players should be able to have a distinct, parallel build optimized for underwater combat.
  2. Players should construct their underwater build around their existing gear set.

Currently, the game is effectively forcing option 2, with an arbitrary requirement to pay for a 7th armor piece and a redundant rune which adds nothing except possibly Swim Speed infusions to what the player already has on the main armor set. In this model, most of the functional components of the breather should be removed. Ascended breathers' infusion slot should become a Swim Speed Infusion Slot, which only takes those infusions, and otherwise, the breather is only a skin (unless you want to add BONUS stats to it). All other functional stats come from the regular helmet.

However, if it is desired (and feasible to implement) option 1, then players should be given a dedicated underwater equipment+build template, separate from other templates and, probably, independent of game mode, unless you want to give up to 3 templates for each mode. Here, the breather will be used in place of regular head armor, and the player has the option to use normal armory functions, to either reuse existing pieces of armor and trinkets or equip a different set for an underwater-specific build. Weapon slots will be decoupled - aquatic weapons will only be equipped in the aquatic template and vice versa. As now, the equipment/build template will automatically switch to the aquatic template when entering the water (based on the game mode if there are dedicated templates for each). The aquatic templates will be a separate page in the hero panel - instead of just Equipment, there will be another page for Aquatic Equipment to present a distinct UI with the aforementioned elements and a preview of the character treading water instead of standing.

When sitting in the guild recruitment LFG, if someone joins then leaves the party (which is the usual behavior for recruiting), the LFG listing is removed and needs to be advertised again.
A possible solution would be to make that LFG category either agnostic to party type? or to simply change it to squad(s), which would make it accessible to tagged and non tagged individuals.

Guilds keep people logging in to the game, the amount of pain inherent to all guild tasks really needs to be looked at.

Be able to have your character do a variety of heroic, silly, sexy, creative poses and facial expressions. Also customize lighting, camera angles, zoom, focus, FOV, and maybe add screen border effects.

A bit over 4800 pieces salvaged manually since middle of January. 😔

Minor thing, but it is a feature I've wanted for a long time. The PvE map bonus rewards, as far as I know, have no way to let you know where along the track you are. Best I can do is run some events, record the bonus items, and try to piece together where I am based on a list from the wiki.

The game has to keep track of this information somewhere, so maybe if we can't have a reward track like in WvW, maybea progress number can be displayed when looking at the zone map? It already shows what the next reward will be.

Make a commander's "call target" hotkey with a unique look similar to Call Target red and Call personal Target yellow but make it where others in ENTIRE SQUAD can take the target commander does.

 

Give it options to overwrite target calls (Call target/take called target) or allow it not to depending on the setup.

Yeah....but have you tried clicking on that guy through a sea of 20+ people?!?!

Stealth exists, obviously just use what we've been using to break enemy focus on you.

An Announcement System in WvW to announce who pulls a Tactic.

 

As an example, if a player pulls EWP it automatically Pings Team chat with the EWP and the Player Name that pulled it.

Mounts with 3, 5, 10, and 50 player capacities. 

 

Expansions for existing expansions (Hot2, Pof2..) included when getting a new expansion.

 

Character full random creation.  Full random creation including character name too.

 

A medium sized ground circle skill that knocks enemies who are in the circle away from the center of the circle.

 

A ground line skill that pulls and knocks enemies on one side of the line to the other side.  Enemies on opposite side will get pulled in opposite directions of each other.

 

A skill that gives abilities and buffs only when allies are in a circular area of effect but lose it when they are not in it 

 

A portal skill that creates two portal lines that are close proximity of each other.  Allies are instantly teleported back and forth between the lines without portal activation needed.  Allies only need to cross the line.

 

A skill that creates a shield around a player that protects the player that is shielded and will knock enemies back if they are touched by the shield.  After a few enemy knock backs the shield disappears.  The shield keeps it's duration if enemies are not knocked back.  Players can use the skill when moving.

 

Show floating boon and condition icons next things when they receive it (on the game screen), like how hit damage numbers show.  This makes it easier to see what is being affected by skills and actions.  An option to turn this on and off can help reduce clutter if the screen becomes too cluttered.  Options to limit how things or how many icons can be seen could help to more finely tune this option.  Removed condition and boon icons could be useful also.

 

Be able select a different color for members of your party subgroup in a squad to easily see where your party members are at and to support them easily if needed.  Be able to have them highlighted on the screen and mini map or have icons next to them.

 

Wvw, have capture points drop loot.

 

New player things.  Label more things in the game so new players can easily identify what they are.  Example: level numbers next to things.  Things on the menu on the top right of the screen.  Give players larger bags to start with.  Show players where to sell things.  Emphasize the material deposit button.  Explain level scaling.  Explain hearts quests.  Explain top right menu and items in it.  Explain how to join squads.  Explain flashing new reward items above mini map.  Explain boons and conditions.  Explain weapons and weapon swapping.  Explain traits and specializations.  Explain gathering tools and nodes. Explain quest direction compass arrow.  Explain things in mini map.  Show new players what to do with common inventory items to off load them so they don't get encumbered with inventory.  When near a heart quest flash the objective and progression information.

 

Make loot drops more audible and more visually noticeable.

 

Have a box around the weapon skills with a label type of weapon being used in the main playing screen to show when weapon is being used.  A picture of the weapon above it would be a nice aesthetic addition.  An option to not show these could make the screen more minimal for those who want that.

 

Make all the clickable buttons in the main playing screen larger to improve useability.

 

Make the higher contrast cursor more unobstructed at the pointing end.

 

Add a join nearest squad button in the main game screen.  Have an option to disable the join button and an option to make the join button only appear when a commander is available or nearby. 

 

Have medium expansions and large expansions at the same time but release them a part from each other giving more development time for the larger expansion.  Releases could alternate yearly or be after two medium releases then a large expansion for more development time of the larger one.

 

A low graphic mode that replaces characters with icons and skills with simple basic geometry graphics and other graphical representations like icons and 2d graphics.  This could be more of a tactic gamemode type of setting.  When a skill is used, the name of the skill will float next to the character like how damage numbers float next to things. 

 

Add a shortcut icon in the inventory bag next to the deposit materials icon that opens the hero equipment pane. 

 

An emote that is active when moving.

 

WvW oriented mounts with limited and specific strategic and tactical uses.  These mounts would be built like golems.  Examples of mounts, mobile turrets with heavy armor, tanks, infantry carriers to carry groups to provide mobility and protection, scouting mounts, aerial mounts with limited flight, stealth mounts and anti-stealth ones, ground to air combat mounts, air-to-air mounts, air-to-ground mounts, long and close range mounts, fast and slow mounts, high and low attack rate mounts, focused attack and spread attack type mounts, trap setting mounts, detection mounts, protection mounts, defensive types of mounts, supply carrying mounts, portal mounts, healing mounts.  These mounts may be released for wvw initially and then carry over to pve.  Pvp mounts may be used in a small scale wvw type of game mode.

 

A set of utility skills that are available to all professions.

 

A set of heal skills available to all professions.

 

A set of elite skills available to all professions.

 

A set of weapons available to all professions.

 

A set of traits available to all professions.


 

10 player new fractals and dungeons.  10 player option for existing fractals and dungeons with increased difficulty, mechanics and rewards.

 

Have a enrage bar on pve foes that fill up when taking damage.  When the bar is filled up the foe becomes enraged and gains buffs, skills and mechanics.  The bar will then stay filled for a short period of time before rapidly unfilling.  When the bar is filling up if no damage is taken then the bar will begin to unfill as well.  Label the bar so players can easily identify what type of bar it is.  A description of the mechanics of the bar would be useful too.  This bar also be available at different phases of a fight too to designate a low damage phase of the fight.

 

Have icons of different conditions next to the defiance bar at different times during a fight to show which conditions are more effective, less effective or ineffective.  Colors or crosses on the icons can inform players of what type of action is effective or ineffective.

 

Be able to respec hero points to allow for new players to try different specs easily so they're not locked into spec from making spec choice mistake.

 

A search box on the world map to search for names of things on it.  Moves screen to item when found.

 

A VR construct simulator world type of map.

 

Build templates - the quick load UI in the main game screen, see the name of the build in addition to the number. 

 

Wvw, show ranks of all players when mousing over their names.

 

10 Customizable main game-screen buttons that can be placed on any side of the screen.  These buttons can be mapped to any hot-keyed input binding.

 

Legendary weapons obtainable in pvp and wvw that can be obtained by only playing in those modes in addition to crafting them the usual way. 

 

More guild slots. 

 

Alternate legendary skins that are less material  intensive to  obtain.  Can be obtained before having the legendary.

 

Be able to label each character at the character selection screen to easily identify a usage for each one if you have an intended use for that one.  Example: character 1 - wvw support, character 2 - pvp side noder, character 3 - pve meta event commander, character 4 - raid healer, etc.  To be able to group and arrange characters in a set order would be nice and also a lock arrangement order option would be too.

 

Cryptos rifts that spawn other things like defensive towers, event chains and other mechanics. 

 

A commander tag that can add another commander tag or more as a sub commander tag group creating a 100 or 150 person group for large events.

 

Relics that produce different combo field types. 

 

A secondary world planet that only has an aquatic methane environment with some small frozen ice land mass and aerial platforms to move to. Another planet type could be a dry environment with limited aquatic areas.

 

Event chain platforms that respawn at different parts of tyria.

 

A skill or ability that charges up a gauge bar that when filled gives and option to select one of the three trait lines being used to be buff for a limited time.  A variant of this could buff one trait lines while debuffing others.  Another variant could only buff gm traits.  Also another variant could have three gauge bar levels that increase three buff levels or number of trait lines to increase at a given time.

 

Add another set of skills for each weapon.  This set of skills could make the weapon more useful for a specific type of content like open world pve, strike missions, raids, fractals, pvp, wvw, etc.  More traits or trait lines could be added for specific content too.

 

Add North South East West on mini map so players can easily follow calls by commanders who refer to those directions. 

 

Be able to quickly and easily remove all infusions from legendary gear and add place all of the same kind to all pieces at once, or replace all at once.  Example: replace all agony infusions with power infusions.

 

A chat lock button on the chat window so chat functionality can be disabled when chatting is not desired and cannot be accidentally disruptive during situations like during combat. 

 

Be able to have two heal skills on the skill bar with the second skill replacing either a utility or elite skill.

 

Be able to have four utility skills on the skill bar, replacing the elite skill with one.

 

Have chairs that gives buffs to multiple people who are using them. 

 

A second set of minor traits for each trait line made to produce an alternate affect for that whole trait line.  Each trait would work together to modify that trait line to be used for a certain purpose.  Minor trait lines would be changed in sets of three traits at a time instead of individually.  Minor traits could work together to be like an elite trait.  The secondary minor traits could also be selectable only when used in the elite trait slot to limit it's use.

 

Be able to select multiple fractals to be played in a fractal queue.

 

In-game events timer like the wiki events timer with customization to be able to select which events to show.

 

Daily/weekly completion checklist that shows events, raids, fractals, strike missions, dungeons, etc that have been completed that day since reset. 

 

Add a daily and weekly reset timer to the main screen.  Have an option to disable it too (to reduce clutter).

 

Squad UI - be able to mark players in the Player list with markers like qdps, alacdps, qhealer etc.  alacrity or quickness can have their own symbols. 

 

Be able to give lieutenants more commander abilities. 

 

Hidden nodes that can found with Jade bots.  Range sensors, proximity sensors and material detectors can be outfitted to the bots to increase yields.  Yield increasing extractors can also be dropped in high material density areas to increase yield over time.  A special material map could be displayed when the map is scanned to show density of materials in found areas.

 

Be able to upgrade home nodes to increase daily yields.

 

Have a Jade bot that can automatically harvest all the home nodes.

 

Have a 2 and 1 minute warning when maps are about to close.

 

Don't close map if minimal player number requirements have been reached for a map.  Display minimum limit and when has been reached.

 

Have a scrolling log of recently received items from drops, events, chests, etc. 

 

A max buy button for vendors

 

Be able to save stat configurations for legendary item individually to be be quickly loaded easily.  This individually saved configuration could be in the customize menu or be a copy of the item in the legendary armory. 

 

Secondary profession mechanics that can be switched to during combat with a cool down time.

It could  be useable in conjunction with the base spec or any elite spec or be a part of each spec.  Secondary profession mechanics could have less functionality than primary mechanics but serve as sort of a strong elite mechanic or a supplementary mechanic.  It could also include a selectable combo field and finisher skill that would make combos more customizable.

 

Have rifts that spawn unique characters, events, stories and drops at set times.  Have some rifts that will open portals to instanced areas.

 

Have an option to show secondary weapon skills above primary weapon skills to see cool downs of skills while the weapon is not in use.

 

Have a simplegraphic of traits on the left or top of the screen to show when traits are applied and the cool downs of them. 

 

Be able to select only one, two or three trait lines to use.  If two trait lines are used then the nine selectable traits are chooseable  from those two lines.  One trait line would use all available traits.  Additional minor traits would need to be added for this.

 

A time to put all tomes and portal scrolls in. 

 

A package to put all raid Kps in. 

 

Display name of person who puts food to be shared out next to food name.

 

Display what stats are given by foods.

 

Buttons to easily and quickly switch between chat channels (say, map, party, squad etc).  Option to enable or disable.

 

Skyscape fireball aiming.  Change to first person view with a good cross hair reticle to easily get on target when using targeting view (sharp non-obrusive high contrast with distance marking).  When not targeting, the view would switch back to a third person perspective view.

 

Option to keep "activate mastery skill" buttons near weapon skills always showing so the little arrow that opens the menu doesn't need to be clicked every time.

 

Wvw, have 4,5, or 6 number of teams in a free for all type of match.  Game matches where 4, 5, or 6 number of teams are matched against each other to compete for domination through highest points achieved within a skirmish, highest win to loss ratio, number of defeats achieved, most capture points achieved, first to capture all territories, first to capture all major capture points, free the most amount of captured NPCs from enemy holding locations, gain the most resources from completing objective and keep hold of key capture points, and any other unmentioned objectives.  Each team can be a mix of players from more than one server to fill team member slots.  A number of different map objective types and goals with different gameplay mechanics and gameplay types would be available for each match.  Competition would go through a series of map types with winning points for each map to win a match or a tournament.  Preliminary matches would place players into matching teams to compete in daily with daily rank and team adjustments to match players of similar ranks.

 

Make aoe circles have a different color if a boon circle overlaps a condition or negative circle.  Also make graphics that may cover other things translucent so it doesn't completely cover important things.

 

Add a fourth unique trait line that is available to all professions.  This is general trait line would modify things likes aoe radii, range, duration, speed, strength, periodic effects, etc.  This trait line could consist of only major trait groups.  This line could have 2-4 groups of traits.  Each group could have more than 3 traits in them.  These traits would help improve weakness of certain builds to increase their useability.  

 

Add effective multi-target aoe resurrection to all professions.

That is great point. Maybe go little further and just give few research note from normal salvaging with "normal" salvage kits and additional notes when you "normally" salvage crafted items. So no need to change research kit and it can be removed.

I don't know how anyone manages them, they accumulate way faster than I can find any use for them and I don't even do rifts all day like some people. I do the daily Convergence, any rifts I happen to come across and that's it, and I've still always got like 2,000+ of the freaking things. Every time I hit 100 ectos or so, I'll craft an Amalgamated Kryptis Essence to chip away at the eventual next piece of Legendary armor and that gets rid of 250 of the things, but they just build up WAY faster than ectos.

More crafting recipes or vendors that take them for generally useful stuff, or some kind of gobbler item would make my aching bank slots grateful. I feel bad throwing 'em out, but after a certain point I'm at a loss for what else to do with them.

I cleared a massive lump of them from one piece of legendary armour which I wasn't going to get, but realised I was 80% there with that mats already. It's strange the lack of sinks for them, but other than the craft to sell option above, there's no current other options. A gobbler would be fine, but I'd like more useful options too

Seconded. And to piggyback off this, I'd like to see something similar to this with recipes that drop in your home instance bandit chest, etc.

I know all those recipes. I end up either putting them on the TP for pennies or outright destroying them, just to get them out of my inventory. Can't we at least salvage them?
