What do you find to be the hardest thing to achieve in GW2?

Impossible to survive big events and world bosses for me. Im used to games that i can visually see whats happening, and you get a little time to move. This games fight mechanics frustrate the kitten out of me. Solo on mobs i can see and react, but if more than a few people are there i cant see the bosses abilities activating, and some bosses/mobs have one shot insta kill abilities that dont give you anytime at all. To me this is the most frustrating thing about this game, its not fun dying to things you dont even see that one shot you, or stun you constantly. And games are supposed to be fun.

I don't see any particular reason they should indulge you with a response when the consensus on this forum is that people who can't grind out the gold and get the required achievements in a couple hours are somehow "doing it wrong" or need to "get gud".The majority of the time that I've seen someone bring up this issue in the past year the responses have all been veiled shades of condescension and people touting that it was "easy" for them, while offering solutions involve no personal investment.

"I can't find people for (name of group event required for token)" is met with a hail of "use LFG" and a plethora of anecdotes on how "it was easy for me". Sure, there might be one person saying "pm in game, and I'll help you", but it probably gets lost in the sea of responses that regardless of form and verbiage serve only to make the person complaining/wanting help feel small, inadequate, and of no value.

Maybe because they are doing it wrong? That there is a deeper, unstated issue underlying the problem with why somebody can't make the money? It doesn't take long to earn gold in this game, especially considering the myriad of ways that Anet has given us. We have so many daily things that you can't do them all in a single day:

Verdant Brink Meta EventAuric Basin Meta EventTangled Depths Meta EventThe Entirety of Dragon StandHero points across both HoT and PoFDomain of Istan MetaThunderhead Peaks Meta.Bitterfrost Frontier Meta (not once per day)Tequatl + Leyline Anomaly at daily resetFractals and CMsWorld BossesRich Gathering NodesRaidsSupply Network Agents.Treasure MushroomsDrytop Treasure HuntsBountiesSilverwastes

And that is all the stuff you can do with a single character. This is far from an expansive list. So, when somebody says they'll never get the money, it makes us wonder what this player is doing in the game.

1) Aurora, because never did anything when it came out and just finished the collection about 6 months. Painful but worth it!

2) Legendaries, the ones that required a full collection like astralaria or nevermore, main reason because when I do a leggy my motivation is the solo journey even for fractals and some of them could be a kitten without group, by hey I got them at the end by myself :)

I have to agree with the ppl who've said that maxing all the masteries was the hardest thing they did. I'm currently at 263, and am 11 points shy of the last non-raid mastery...Nuhoch Alchemy. Add the 8 points for the Raid masteries and I'm 19 points short. Problem for me is, I'm pretty much down to the adventure silver and gold points. My ping levels are high, and my skills in these adventures are low. Other than that it's probably going to have to be the rest of the Dragon's Stand achievements, and those, by themselves won't be enough. Also, I haven't done any raids as of yet. So I'm not at all sure I'll be able to get all 19 needed points at any time...now or in the future.

The second time I had to do it (for mastery of the LW Episode) I cheesed it with a friendly Mesmer. :) But that first time I did myself. I am not good at JP's! And it was a long time goal, I had tried (and failed) it before numerous times and then just let it go for months on end.

Yeah...I personally call that one either "Crying Up The Volcano" or "Screaming Up The Volcano". Depended on how frustrated I got on any particular attempt. Was greatly satisfying when I made it to the final chest the first time.

If my maths is right you need 27 gold llamas. To get 1 gold llama you need to place 1st in a monthly PvP tournament, then you need to either do it another 26 times or complete the PvP season reward track 26 times (or a mix of both).

Which is probably easy for some people, but for me it's virtually impossible.

Once you get 1 Mini Gold Llama, you can buy more for 10 tickets each. Soo... 260 tickets and there ya go.

What kind of goals you have had or currently are working on that have been the hardest to reach? It can be anything - raid boss kills, certain items, achievements, titles, completing a JP, completing a personal challenge of yours etc.

Keep in mind I want to hear about things that personally mean something to YOU, not just a "legendaries are too hard to get" or "raids are inaccessible". I want to hear about things you have worked on/are currently working on/are going to work on! :D

For me, the Fractal God title seems like a big, and a long term goal.

Fractal God, it not hard but rather time consuming, there's a difference

something that's hard should be skill related, not to be defined by hours accumulated

I would say all the ranking related PvP titles God of PvP, Legendary Demigod, Immortal Legend, Unyielding Legend, Best of the Best, etc is the true definition of hard, you need not only to continue to practice, but also need to be gifted personal abilities like reaction time, quick decision making, etc

hard[hahrd]adjective, hard·er, hard·est.difficult to do or accomplish; fatiguing; troublesome:a hard task.difficult or troublesome with respect to an action, situation, person, etc.:hard to please; a hard time.difficult to deal with, manage, control, overcome, or understand:a hard problem.involving a great deal of effort, energy, or persistence:hard labor; hard study.

By these definitions, Fractal God definitely falls under hard. This thread is not asking about the most challenging or most time-consuming goal in the game, it is asking about the hardest personal goal - subjectively.

Two things are real hard to me:

  • Story instances where I am forced to use another weapon than my (me slow learner, if thrown in water, I don't swim, I sink), or forced to be solo.
  • The twirling/slaloming visual effects causing me motion sickness, for some as bad as making it impossible to me to do the stuff (ex: meta in Sandswept Isles).

Obtaining the last Shadows Provision in Desolation (part of the shadow sprinter achievement chain).. no one does the ghost juundu worm event to drop the green shield down from, the fort where the provisions are.. another well thought through event chain with poor scaling so that short man /solo grps cant do the escort and so continuously fails.
