Official Mount Adoption Feedback Thread [merged]

Recommended Posts

The problem I see is that this won't get changed. No matter how much anyone complain or protest against it, it won't change. When I'm seeing so many people changing from normal mounts to these new atrocious things one by one in Lion's Arch and even the ones I see say "I GOT THE BEST SKIN" which is the wold Jackal, you know very well the chances of them getting that one on the 1st pull is literally 1 out of 31.

They've gotten enough people to play into this thing that it doesn't matter what we think and it will continue on like this.I'm sure they're more thinking on, "Sheesh, we should've done this with the gliders since day 1."

If you don't like any of the new mount skins, I'm sorry to say that your pool of potential unlocks has now been slightly diluted.

Except the Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock is only available from Black Lion Chests, so that's actually adding an extra layer of RNG to getting the skin you want.

This is true. It's just another gambling avenue, layered as you've indicated. I wouldn't recommend using it as a path to getting the skins; that's even more dismal than buying the adoption papers. I hope there's at least one player out there that just happens to have a Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock that yields the mount skin they would have liked the most. Weekly key to chest to wardrobe unlock to mount skin... I think that would be great.

Of course, the best thing would be known products available at a price that consumers could then purchase at their own discretion.

If this trend continues I won't fund this game anymore, simple as that. This is stupid.

The math:400 * 31 = 12,400 gems.

How is that different from spending 100 gems for a chance at an exclusive dye]? Or 80 gems (in bulks) for BL keys, with a random chance of skins? Like any lotto, play if you think you'll get lucky, otherwise hang tight and buy the specific skin(s) you want when they show up at a discount later.

Those dyes can be bought on the TP and flooded quite nicely with supply. Mount skins cannot be bought on the TP.

Still, someone had to play the lotto for folks like you or I to take advantage of the discount. In fact, at least in this case, the 400 gems guarantees a skin; the other RNG boxes on the gem shop contain more junk than not.

I'm not likely to be willing to plop down 400 gems without getting to choose a skin, but all the same: I can see why you (like I) won't want to spend that amount for RNG, but why does it affect your paying for anything else that the game has to offer?

No, you don't play the lotto because the dyes can come from other sources than BLTC, be they drops or the anniversary packs.

And you can get mount adoption by converting gold to gems.

Oh thy wont change it. It wont be fair on those who bought loads of tickets willingly. One player just posted 30 tickets saying they'd prob regret it having sold all their stuff in game for gold to fund it...

These mounts don't have single price, so you can;t tell they are worth their price.

All the skins are AWESOME!!! Don’t worry about gems, just buy them and enjoy!!!

I already regret it for them. Too much time in the Mad King's realm will do that to a person, I suppose.

Enough is enough, Arena Net, if you like gambling so much make a Casino game.At launch we had the Black Lion Chests and dyes. Both of which you could get from other forms, prominently the Trading Post. So it was a mostly innocuous practice, and we learned to live with it (and even, thanks to key farming, thrive). Then it was the ecto gambles. It was an annoying addition, but mostly not that bad, i mean it was a ecto sink, but entirely optional. Then comes PoF and everything changed.First you make it so we HAVE to gamble for the Superior Runes of Holding used on the new ascended 24+ slot bags. Toxic move, but hey, it was an instance, and i figured you'd eventually add other sources, since traditionally Arena Net hasn't been a toxic predatory developer.Apparently i was wrong. Now not only do you add a 2000 gem mount (more expensive than the previous 5 mount pack), but make obtaining ANY OTHER skin a Gamble? That's just the worst practice you could adopt. You managed to make me regret buying the Ultimate version of the expansion in less than a month after launch. Even HoT with all it's crap that lasts to this day hasn't made me regret buying the Ultimate edition (and it was more expensive).I've always gladly paid for the game and expansions above the base cost because the game had quality and respected us players. This, this is just insulting. Enjoy your revenues and the user drop.

Yup. I've seen cases like this. This is why yeah... this is stuck right where it is.It's a real shame though. I was kind of looking forward to mount skin after going "Nice, I can get them completely black with glowing eyes" on the Halloween one and wanted to see what they could come up with next....then this shows up...

I understand from a business perspective why they chose this path. But I do not agree, and I will be voting with my wallet. I was fine with the way they did Black Lion Chests. But for something people were so obviously looking forward to, I can't help but feel slighted. I understand it's a business and that they need to make more money. But personally, for me, I would spend more money on individual items I want than for a random chance at getting it.

@Bazs.1470 said:How did Anet fall this low? Paying for gampling, this is a joke. Why can't we just select the mount skin we want, like we do with the mini tickets (yeah, I get it, because stupid people will spend more money they get what they want). I hope this kitten will aliante enough people to change this crap or never do it again.

Question, do you call people who love trading card games stupid too for buying card packs with RNG?Like... RNG is all over this game, there are timegated skins locked behind RNG, lots of RNG stuff in gemstore, ecto gambling... why do people whine about this specific one when it's not even close to be the worst?

This sort of gambling has been around forever, there's nothing new.

I've been ok with the kind of RNG Anet have used so far but this feels gross. I understand the counter point would be "they could have just thrown all these into BLTC and you'd be even a lower chance of getting what you want," but this seems like a real cash grab when we've been used to the ethical system they used for gliders (and I was fine with the occassional BLTC glider because of the general system they had).

I realise this is a new product Anet are selling and maybe are trying to find the right price point (we've had 1600 gems for a set, 2000 gems for 1 definite and 400 gems for random all put out within a few weeks of PoF, they are clearly experimenting), but I would suggest using the same model as gliders.

Obviously this stable is in the game now, let's hope they move to a more reasonable "buy what you want" system in the future.

I do have to say Arenanet is a bit brilliant on this situation.I was prepared this morning to see a ton of topics and posts about people getting angry on the balancing... but then when I checked the notes they seemed really good so... that kind of put a damper on my plans on reading on a lot of people angry about the patching but......then this mount thing came out and now the whole idea of posts coming up seems to be the RMG (Random Mount Generator).

Well done, could've had an update that people would've been "mostly" okay with, and now you got people doing this about the Gem Store.I would assume they didn't think people would've reacted like this though and thought they would've just eaten it up because "They all want mounts, they're all addicted to mounts. They won't even notice the randomness in this and just get them all".

No, they are not. I like 4 of the skins but I refuse to gamble.

I wish ANet would make it at least so that players could sell skins they randomly get but don't like, as one person's meat is another one's poison. Probably the skins I like are ones that others think are awful, and vice versa. What University of Washington grad wouldn't like to ride around on a husky? Of course I know why they won't do it, but at least wishing is still free. Oops, probably shouldn't have said that, as wishing may now become RNG.

I think the random skins were a terrible idea. It is hugely unfair to the players, especially for paying customers.

They could have at least allowed us to select "random" mounts by narrowing down to the type of the (jackal, griffon, etc).

I personally would have preferred to just pick from a list of 30 new types each one I wanted. That way everyone is happy. They get my money and I get exactly what I want.

By the way, ANET has changed items in the past. When the flamekissed skins were released the Light set looked exactly like the T3 Human Light set and it was about 30 gold (+/-) cheaper to get the gemstore set than to buy the cultural set. Afterwards they offered people the option of a refund if they didn't like the new set or to keep the set. So ANET could totally change the packaging system and offer refunds.

@cmattos.5106 said:I bought two and both are dye-able. One had three dye boxes and the other four. No idea if this is the norm, or if I just happened to get ones I could dye.

The blog promotion says they are all dyeable. I can't spend the amount of money needed to get them all, though. (Add in to the RNG woes, I really really like the Wild Magic Glider, but I do limit my key purchases). And then there is the fully dyeable warforged mount for 2K gems ... my wallet is noping. So I'm struggling to justify getting a random set of mounts when I actively dislike some of them and really like a few others and for the most of them just like the idea of dyeable options sans odd glows.

Either working for them, or buyer's remorse trying to get people to spend as much as you so you won't feel as bad about yourself, or something else.My sarcasm detector is going haywire at the moment.

I won't be buying this, we have to fight this absorb behavior and the only way we can do that is with our wallets.

Sadly, I agree with many that enough people will buy this to make it profitable... What happens then, is the gradual erosion of the playerbase, and eventually even harsher business campaigns will have to start, and further erosion of the player's trust and participation. It's a slippery slope that started long ago, but it needs to be responded to here. If you want to guarantee to buy a single skin you like, you may have to spend as much as 120$ to get it... What happened to the people who invented SAB? :anguished:

Yeah I felt a bit nauseous when I read further into the BLTC stables. I am one of those people who probably buys more from gems than I should... and over $100 worth of carrot on stick for a single gem store update literally makes me queasy because I can see myself wasting money on this crap on the weekend after I've had a few drinks.

It does make me feel disrespected and uncomfortable with the direction the company seems to be furthering itself in recent times.

I am considering reinstalling WoW because at least that game doesn't have this RNG money trap kinda thing going. I just wish that game wasn't such a grind... i doubt Anet would miss me, they have already well and truly got their moneys worth out of me...
