From the june studio update

Recommended Posts

My god, that Warrior update in your signature was over a year ago ^

Anyway, you missed the major WvW update in today's blog.

After the update, repair canisters and anvils will grant a small bonus to your health and defense, with a twelve-hour duration. The enhancement will work in PvE and WvW, but not PvP.

Just what WvW was missing: the need to use repair anvils.

Yeah it's like...why.  Just make the health and defense buff baseline, because of course everyone is going to want the small 12 hr buff you get from randomly using them now.

Which is like the inverse 'everyone wins' scenario they've been doing for years now.  Back when you had armor damage in WvW you got penalized for not repairing (negative health and defense), now you get more health and defense for doing nothing but using the anvil...

Yeah, it seems like one of those things that is intended to be a bonus, but they aren't thinking through how anyone who takes content seriously in WvW or PvE will now feel obligated to mash the Anvil every play session. So they go from being a feature on the way out to being an obligation again. Oh and it becomes another buff to take into account when balancing player power, which if balanced for makes it all the more of an obligation, especially in PvE where DPS checks exist.

Better to just delete them, IMO, than overthinking how to keep them in the game.

And all of the "small stat increase" compound each other even just going in and out of territory, and the flow of fights already suffers some from that.

More Access to Key Boons

Having high uptime on critical boons is the strongest indicator of success when playing in group content. Might, fury, quickness, and alacrity all strongly define your ability to successfully tackle challenges in the game. With this update, we’re continuing to expand options for several professions and elite specs, creating more alacrity and quickness support builds.

We’ve also looked at fury and might access across professions and have introduced or increased sources of might, and we’ve changed several traits from self-only sources of fury to now share fury with allies. This means that damage builds will help maintain uptime on these boons and reduce the burden on support roles.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a joke right??  April Fools, hahahaha??  SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THIS IS A JOKE!?!?

Boons are the biggest problem (ok, there are MANY MANY big problems with this game-mode) right now, and they want to strengthen them???

What's next Anet?  Instead of killing enemy players we now give each other high-fives after a good fight??  I don't even know what else to say right now...

We’re happy to report that after June 28, you’ll no longer need to repair your armor after being defeated—the mechanic is kaput. After the update, repair canisters and anvils will grant a small bonus to your health and defense, with a twelve-hour duration. The enhancement will work in PvE and WvW, but not PvP.

We saw an opportunity here to make progress on one of our other long-standing goals: raising the floor on player effectiveness and damage output without further raising the ceiling. In this update, these unique stacking attribute bonuses are being changed to provide boons instead

Put the fork down.

Of all the changes they talked about, only MAYBE the Ventari change will see play.

Tempest will not drop Aura heal.

Guard wont use more signets.

Necro will not go healing or play Warhorn.

Ranger will not play spirits.

And nobody will play Warrior.

You seem to have overlooked a small part of what they said: "Here’s a small selection of what to expect..."

I was just reading the most recent "Gandara no link why" post, that and your comment got me thinking. If ANet simply count the number of unique accounts logging to WvW over a two month period to determine population sizes for links etc, and there is now a buff in WvW that applies in PvE (making it essential for min max builds there too) did ANet just break/manipulate their own metric? How are you gonna know who's there to play WvW for a couple hours a week, and who's just there to get the buff for raids?

I pay you 25g when a single meta build got a significant buff. ok?

The problem is the boons, which I thought I pretty clear about in my initial post.  And now Anet wants to BUFF the boons and give more classes more access to boons.  At this point, Anet should just give every class/build every boon available with a permanent uptime and call it a day.
