DX11 Crash Issue

I been crashing in world bosses , i noticed more on Svanir shaman area , annoying because i could not get the chest

Going back to dx9 until dx11 is stable

Ever since the DX11 update, the game is borderline unplayable for me. The game crashes to desktop on logging out all the time + I'm getting stuck at loading screens. This started when I switched to DX11 however I switched back since then, but the problems are still persistent.

Try these things:

Also, add " -dx9" to the game's shortcut's starting parameters.

I don't have any add-ons and I've been lucky to make it a full ten minutes before getting fatal errors today. I just leave all my settings alone so that Anet can have the reports. I think it's next week that we get another Dx11 update, but I'm wondering if maybe they should roll out more often?

Still getting that same error message with  bgfx buffer, and went back to DX9 again.

I noticed the crash usually happens in WvW when someone goes down.

same here, have seen crashes in the helloween labyrinth and in WvW. Crashes seem to occur more likely, when a lot of PCs are involved.

To be fair,the Dx12 mod worked much better for me compared to Dx11. I had higher fps overall and i never crashed nor had any weird artifacts.

well, apart from the crashes, that isn't true for me. I get  2x-3x the frames I get with dx9, depending on the situation. Dx12 was very reliably onb getting low frame dips under control. I'd also assume dx11 isn't fully optimized yet, as we're in beta state.

Looked good at first, but as soon as there are more players around, e. g. labyrinth at peak hours, it's pretty much a guaranteed crash. Should be very easy to reproduce internally without involving the public.

Additionally I now experience multiple visual bugs (wrong colors and textures) which I haven't had before. Clearly not an improvement. On the contrary.

I'm still wondering how much resources ANet is actually investing into getting this right. To me it looks like a one man show. How many ANet employees are actively playing the game and how many of them play with DX11 enabled?

I understand it's a beta so I won't complain about the crashes, but could someone from ANet please update us on what's going on with DX11 development? We recently had a really nice blog post, but it'd be nice to talk about these crashes and instability issues and when we can expect some patching? Maybe that's too much to ask for though? Still wanted to throw it out there.

I posted already in the other thread, but I'm not sure in what one is the right place to be, so I post here too.

I run the game under windows 10 and nothing comes after launcher, not even the login windows. I have tried to add  "-dx9" in command line, but it didn't solve the problem. Is there a fix for that by now, so that I can start the game at least?

I just responded on the other thread. Go through all three steps and see if this solves the problem. 🙂

P.S. Make sure you don't have GW2 installed under C:\Progam Files\ . Create a separate Games folder on C:\, or even better, on a non-Windows partition.

I don't know what was in that last patch on Nov 8 2021, but since then the game refuses to launch, gets hung, locks up my mouse.  I don't have 30 chars, I wasn't using dx11 beta option, and I have zero mods.  I tried a "-repair" to no affect.  I have been running GW2 on Windows 10 since about Jan/Feb of 2020 with no issues, even running at 4K.  I had to add a "-dx11" to end of my launch command to even get the game to boot up and let me log in.  Ugh, but at least worked, and seems stable enough (I hope).

Update for Nov 10, 2021 -- the "-dx11" is stable for me, so I guess this is what I'll be doing until the next patch breaks something.  I'm using an EVGA 2080TI Hybrid with the latest drivers, if that matters.
