    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

Definitely first episode . It s the atmosphere , i feel so good and happy just by playing it . Before SAB , i was unfamiliar to this genre (pixelated oldschool adventure games , i guess people also call them retro) . After SAB , i wouldn t stop thinking about it whole year . But for the record , i loved the traversal stages in w2 (boat - hawk) and i definitely loved w2z3 music , best of the best . I have it in my real world music list too

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Things that are profitable to even hardcore endgame players . So there will be a reason to anyone would enjoy it (i enjoy the content , but some people only play for progression or loot so) , maybe a few laurel box (which grants 1-3 laurel) - a festive box which have so hard rng but have a very big min - max loot difference so people wanna gamble with it , gold trophies , maybe different gizmo additions to the game (consumable , or dunno with ach - perma) like sab theme instruments (dunno if it take too much resource to put computer sounds to melodies , u can put it in gemstore later to get profit tho) - sab object spawners - a sab capsule which would make character floating on sab air animation etc . , even sab costume brawl stuff like cannon - gun - scroll (that summons sab terrain animations like an element mage , river - lava - wind etc) . Dunno so many thing can be added

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

New worlds are top priority , but i want the creator's spirit in it like w1-w2 , can u rent his services part time dunno . For games , u can use some adventure stuff in sab classic , jumpers - throwers kinda time limit games , shooting range with slingshot would be so good , some side objectives to add more content inside , help a friend bring his stuff back from the top , a wizard wants you to take his place in a duel because rival gonna play dirty and with using magic transports u into the water with a sphere around you, then a loading screen appears and u can add another room like this , our character transformed to wizard , beating everyone , as a reward wizard may grant a special action skill etc

Since I am rather bad at jumping, I like all of the first world, but I wouldn't mind the second if it wasn't so gosh darn LONG. I can focus up for a bit and actually concentrate on jumping but about the time the first world is finished, the second one is still on the first bit. World 2 is so time consuming. By the end I just don't care whether I make the jumps or not.

I would like to see a black lion chest key, ticket scraps, the key-choice chest, and this might be new, but what about a selection of boss chests? So I could skip having to farm the various bosses during the festival. Maybe three? So one "big" one, like from Triple Trouble, one "medium" like Rhendak, and one "small" like a champ bag? Either way though, I really liked the weekly vendors. Didn't always get things from them, but I liked them.

I am bad at jumping, but I lovelovelove all the hidden secrets. I also really liked the romantic pages achievement recently that was humorous, AND awarded a title. So a batch of secrets with a title "Detective"? Once the new worlds are out, a part two could award "Super Sleuth".

World 1, Zone 3 for Tribulation mode. I like the more variety of solving my way through that area by skill and creativity to the map design, for example you're supposed to drop down from the log toward the end, but I've managed to stay up on the branches before for chest run daily once or twice and have otherwise a more relaxed route to the end checkpoint for just doing a trickier jump or two.

World 2, Zone 2 for the most part I like, but doing Tribulation mode it comes off as a bit linear for getting around besides getting the secret rooms for achieves. Ultimately for this case it's just one incredibly long instance without a sort of high risk/high reward route payoff to any of the instance on Trib. For me that makes difficulty content more interesting and enjoyable, especially when you main issue is how long something will take to do without a compromise of difficulty. Regular mode though it's a perfect zone and quite enjoyable to explore and do the little puzzles about like the gong, feeding the bee dog a piranha, and outsmarting the arrow traps.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Unless we have a lot more new items that cost bauble bubbles, I'd just like more items in general for a weekly supply to invest mine into for how many I can get vs the Trib weapons and other things I already own.

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?
    • Super Adventure Box Weapons/Tools: Whatever that thing In W2Z2 is behind the wall we can't do anything to, A flute song to render enemies non attackingly dazed for 10-15 seconds, Environment Objects like mortars/turrets to use after getting an npc repair mallet/kit upgrade ability for newer places that cost baubles per thing repaired, Grapple Hook spots that swap with whip and help with enemies concealing a weakness with a covering that you can pull off of them.

    • Fashion Based: Super Mount skins, Super Adventure Box themed armor, Super Adventure Box cape, More Bauble Infusions/Ascended SAB weapons, SAB Racing Scarf/goggles, backpack plushes of the bananas/beedoges/monkeys,

    • Things to do: Time Trials/Zone Time Challenges; Challenge Modes like 1-heart, 1-shot, 1-bomb, More Enemies, Invincible Enemies, No Buffs, More Traps; more collection sorts, Mimics, "Destroyer of Bananas"/other possible secret mini boss/full boss encounters that are optional, an even higher "in Applied Jumping" title or two by completeness, Secret Achievements, another home instance cat, Taimi's return joke in Motto's system (destroyers), maybe a instanced party mode to do a few Mini game sorts like in Mario Party and get like Super Partier tokens or compete for baubles/bauble bubbles and things.

    • Toys/Tonics: Super Adventure Crown potion (crown from King Toad or Queen Bee Dog), Super Adventure Box Throne

  • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

I really like World 1. It flows together from zone to zone and actually feels like a connected map that you're fighting through. World 2 is all over the place design-wise and it's a bit jarring.

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

I'd like to be able to buy some of the harder-to-get currencies for SAB, like furniture coins, the Crimson Assassin tokens, etc. Maybe exchange baubles for other festival currencies.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

More guild hall decorations! I'd love for my guild hall to have the dragon or make the giant cage from the end of the levels. And a bit of a long shot, but a SAB strike mission would be fantastic.

  • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

I don't have my favourite actually. I think that every zone brings something new when it comes to the mechanics, the enemies and the environment we find ourselves in.
For me those things are the reasons that bring me the real excitement from the Super Adventure Box.
Although I must say that W2Z2 is the one I like the least. It always felt chaotic, overcomplicated.

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

I would really love to get cheaper prices from those kind of vendors, so the people can really engage in the Festivals and use their treasures to craft legendary weapons, armor, accessories in the easier way. It doesn't have to be super easy, but easier sounds really cool :) In addition it would be amazing to collect home nodes in a cheaper way or other items that would make people catch up the up to day content faster :)

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I play since launch so listen to me very carefully! :D
    1. I would love for the orange weapons and the red weapons to be easier to get. The thing is Super Adventure Box is the festival that lasts only for a limited time once per year. We are the players that have to go to work and some of us must work overhours and study. Moreover, people often show their blue-green-yellow skins, but I rarely see orange and red ones. It says a lot about the situation. Please make them easier to get.
    2. Of course after seven years I would love to get new world and finally save lovely Moto-In-Drag...ekhm... Princess Miya!
    3. I completely don't like the minigames, like the race you have added to the hub. What I like are the bonus bauble games after killing the main Boss of the certain world.

  • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

My vote goes to either Storm Top or Rapids. Making verticality feel good is something Guild Wars 2 really excels at and these two levels play with it in fun ways. Pain Cliffs would also be up here if it wasn't for the Point of No Return between checkpoint 3 and 4 which has ruined multiple 100% bauble runs...

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Very good question cause until now the Weekly vendors have left me cold. Maybe I am not in the right tier of play yet or maybe I am just weird.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

Well the obvious would be a new zone. I think they are distinct enough that a world can be delivered peacemeal without feeling incomplete (atleast not any more incomplete than SAB currently feels without those 2 worlds).
The less obvious answer is minigames set in existing zones similar to how Cart is a minigame set in Rapids and Robbers is a minigame set in Sparkling Pools. And then allow these minigames to be accessed from a bonus room in the level select houses, and use adventure infrastructure to make them both rewarding and not completely break the bauble economy. This would leave us with 5 zones (which could be piecemealed over 2 releases) which could get new fun minigame versions, preferably also based on other games like the current 2. I think Sunny Glade for example could have you chase a beedog with a giant bauble cluster similarly to the Sonic Mania Special Stages, the level is already pretty Greenhills like.
And than this infrastructure could be used to fatten the releases of new zones, capping them off with a bonus stage as a teaser for next year's zone. Giving us 8 year of content and only 16 years of wait time for full SAB. Which will honestly be faster than how it currently seems to go.

Just imagine how fun Wario Ware like this would be in the GW2 engine.

Otherwise this one is honestly pretty great idea and fits well with the sillyness of SAB...

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

My favourite one is W1Z1 because it's colorful, not too much long and fun to explore by not being too much attached to very long alternative paths or too long backtracking. Here's also some reasons why other levels are not on the same... level:

    • W1Z2: it's actually fine, it's possibly a second close one but the tree part can be a little confusing to navigate. Between Checkpoint 1 and 2 also it's like doing the same tree part again but with just a little more. It could've been pretty much more enjoyable without the "double" tree part.
    • W1Z3: too much monotone. Too gray and is mostly a trail of dark trees with slight variations but not compelling-looking like the rest. It's like the castle level of SMB1 but what I loved about that game were the colorful levels, not that one.
    • W2Z1: the other second close one... but just too long, like the rest of W2. I think the whole W2 went too far on the long levels and the easy "do it again" parts. Also the raft part, even if it's kinda fun firstly, is just prolonging a pretty stale moment of the level. Just run around spamming 1. Boring. Apart from that, a pretty enjoyable level, including the log parts, which I like a lot.
    • W2Z2: good parts mixed with plainly bad parts. The whole fish/octupus part is kinda fun... once. Also the "hand power" arena too. But the level is just tooo muuuch looooong. It's like a level and a half and some of the secrets require too much backtracking with the heavy risk of wasting again a lot of time. Very varied, which is good, but very flawed, which is annoying.
    • W3Z3: I actually like a lot this level, if I totally forget the prolonged part. It's a personal choice, I know, but that part adds a lot of stuff that is just not fun or worth it. The Qbert thing is ok the first time but then it's boring as hell ( I didn't like the original Qbert too, fyi ). The whole "sliding" and wind is engaging, like the portal mechanics and the little puzzles. Also the bosses are really fun to do ( best in the SAB ). If it had all secrets and stuff just in the "shorter" part I would've placed it as a favourite.
    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Strike Crystals maybe? Ok, ok, maybe not the best idea. What would I like? Maybe a random SAB unbound weapon, or better a SAB Weapon Unlock ( like the Wardrobe Unlocks ), obviously except the red weapons. Other stuff that would be good may be some Mastery XP ( like the ones given in the WvW Mount skin track ), so I could keep them ready for the next episode and also would help people still needing XP on previous content. Maybe even PvP/WvW tickets to help make their Legendary weaps/trinkets. Also, tbh, I think the Weekly vendor could contain some of the BL Unlocks or Tickets to make them more enticing.

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

What about a special SAB Mount to unlock through a collection? Like a digital raptor skin that allows you to also use that mount into the SAB? That could be fun!
Also some kind of PvP game like... what about SAB speedruns? Everyone starts at the same time and it's all a speedrun to the end but instead of a cage or boss there's just a flag to "stomp" in a PvP finisher animation. Oh, yeah, I would also like a PvP SAB flag finisher too, maybe with some good ol' Trib music to pair with that. I think even a "100 bubbles run" can be fun in some levels, or if not 100 just a timer and people have to figure out how to get the most on their own in that time. I don't think that strictly-PvP activities can be that fun, but "runs" competitions are more feasible and possibly engaging.
Lastly, what about a SAB Strike Mission with, for example, an Arena fighting 3 SAB bosses in a row (Frog, Yeti, Wizard/Dragon )? The Dragon Bash had a prototype of a Strike Mission and the other Festivals have their "bosses" too ( except the Lunar one ). I think it's time to complete that cycle!

  • Oh, cool! I can't wait for this! I started my Guild Wars 2 career relatively late. My first visit to the beautiful, yet savage world of Tyria was at the beginning of last November. After two weeks I decided I HAD to have the HoT and PoF expansions, and got the two-for-one deal for Christmas, thus making my life complete. xP Anyway, the first event I had the honor of attending was Wintersday, so I am seriously looking forward to seeing all the cool "holidays" this awesome place has to offer. Whatever the year brings (and hopefully it will bring a viable vaccine, like, yesterday), I have come to learn that the community of Guild Wars 2 (and, I assume, Guild Wars?) is among the finest of any online game I've ever played, and I've been gaming online since the days of BBS'es and MUD's lol! Anyway, thanks for the post! I'm excited!

Happy (and safe) travels out there in the wilds. May the Six go with ye.

    In hoc signo vinces.

  • While I can not pick a favorite level, I love too many of them.
And I'm not too concerned what's the vendor selling.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I would LOVE to explore more of Moto and his former krew members. I'd like to know more about how Ketto, Yavvi, and the Somno-Scholar are doing.

  • 1.) My favorite level would have to be W2Z2, I quite like the length of it and like that theres a shortcut option (not including the eagle shortcut) or a long way to go. The hidden cat is a pain in the butt to get, but I like that its an optional thing if you do want it and theres a sense of accomplishment when you finally get it. Feels like W2Z3 is just a long grind whereas Z2 is fun and compelling from beginning to end whilst still having some difficulty to it.
2.) Please oh please give weekly vendor for LS3 map currency. There are so many vendors in the game now, both in festivals and not, for LS4 currecnies (an additional one recently with the strike missions) but only festival of 4 winds had LS3 currency. It feels almost like LS3 is being forgotten whereas LS4 still has relevancy in modern maps and releases when it comes to rewards. Honestly I think there are too many LS4 vendors, especially considering how much easier it is to get the LS4 materials and that the maps are populated enough to see constant running of events that give the currency. LS3 on the other hand, not including Bitterfrost and the Winterberry farm, is more difficult to get. Having a vendor to get stuff from that cost baubbles or something would be great.
3.) A new world would be great, but SAB is like a homage to classic games. A new world 3 thats a platformer like the rest would be nice, BUT other classic game styles could be fun too. Maybe a Pokemon parody, or heavier Zelda style reference, some weird Tyrian JRPG, or maybe even a quick little sonic minigame like the race in the SAB hub. Its a totally simulated world inside the box so really anything could make sense. More styles of things to appeal to those who dont care much about jumpy platformers and can enjoy all kinds of content that you normally cant play in the standard MMORPG world of GW2.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

W2Z3 (any mode) and W1Z1 (tribulation). I love the ambient from W2Z3, but the level design is superb, as a compact labyrinth that makes use of every single inch of terrain. Tribulation makes you lose your mind often here, but it's extremely satisfying whenever you beat it. W1Z1 tribulation is cool because it puts the challenge right in your face, without any type of preface. It's short and intensive, and it's a perfect place to start your daily run. The sunny, vivid and simple ambient is quite cozy over the other darker and more melancholic levels.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

There are two items that have already been in Weekly Vendors and I'd like to see more: Mystic Clovers and the Tyrian Exchange Voucher. Clovers are a blessing, they're really annoying to craft and being able to save a good bunch of clicks is always nice. The Voucher is also great as it lets you soften the farm on any particular map you don't enjoy playing in for whatever reason. One item that could be added is the Communal Boost Bonfire, which is great to see being shared from time to time. Another item that I'd love to see back into the game, whether it's by one of these weekly vendors or by any other method, is the WxP Booster, which is a nice tool that has been gone for a long time.

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

Besides obviously W3 and W4, stuff regarding Motto and the background story behind SAB would be cool. Also, a Super Armor Set matching the weapons would be incredible, with the particles and all. There could be a small collection to get it, and each piece could be linked to a level in some way (like one set of weapons is linked to W1 and the other to W2).

  • The most fun I've had in this game was in SAB. I've got all the achievements and skins. I think it's probably the best event that's ever happened in a MMO and should be expanded on all levels such as new worlds, new bosses, armor skins maybe some form of SAB arena?

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

None, it should have stayed as a one time joke. imo too much resources are put in this bull. If i wanted to play a platformer, i'd play one of the mario games.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

    None, it's more wasted resources.

If it were to be completely removed from gw2 and set up as its own game. where all the skins coming from it stay in that game too. Would be perfect. That way SAB fans can still play it, but i'm not confronted by the eye sore immersion disrupting mess. Failing that option, keep it to only one week a year so i can avoid it, works too.

I really really really want World 3 and 4 to be come, but if it is something without any complexility and difficulty like World 2 Zone 3 and 4, I won't buy it.

  • Casual players have newbie mode, please don't make a another World like World 1, don't kill our love towards World 2.

  • I'm a bit mixed on my favourite level. I'm going to go out on a whim and say 2-3. It has a lot of frustrating parts, especially how painfully long it is when you repeat it. But it also has so many optional parts/secrets that make it my personal favourite. I wish there was more reason to repeat going to these secret areas, as I like being rewarded for my knowledge of the hidden parts of super adventure box. Things like the shortcut worm/eagle are really enjoyable to me, but I'd perhaps enjoy a trade-off of the shortcuts being the harder but shorter path. Think tribulation mode difficulty for shortcuts. This would make them more of a trade-off, making both paths viable and used by different players, without them becoming a boring "just stand here and afk for a bit"-eagle.

My favorite level is the one where they delete the whole festival like they deleted roaming in wvw its only fair. So far all I see is them running kitten like this and removing game content and just adding more fashion wars which no reason to support the game when this SAB kitten is the highlight of everything they are doing right now. So depressing that its more fun to play a grinding game than gw2 so sad.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

Toss up between W1Z1's exploration with bombing walls/simplicity and W1Z3's platforming. I feel like my least favorite was W2Z2 and W2Z3 because I think the difficulty spike with those, especially in Tribulation Mode is too much. I feel like that level of difficulty should have been saved for later during perhaps a W3 or W4 level.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Super Adventure Box o' Fun, Mystic Coins, Obsidian Shards or general crafting components to help craft Legendary or Ascended Weapons/Armor.

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I really want the new Worlds first and foremost, but I would also like an Endless Super Adventure Tonic, Super Mount Skins (Perhaps a pack) and for the Baubles and Bauble Bubbles to be put into the wallet or have some sort of pouch that contains them all in a single slot like a Bauble Bag or a Bauble Bubble Bag. Oh, and last but not least, I want you guys to finish the Super Adventure Gathering Tools! Right now there's just the Logging Bear so the set is incomplete. Really bugs me.

  • Honestly although i find the idea of an 8bit style adventure area fun in concept, super adventure box just doesnt fit the idea i personally would have for such an event at all so i generally avoid the place and pretend there isnt an event on most years....

However since i know alot of folks love the event and it is ok in small doses i guess if i had to suggest anything it'd be the idea mentioned above about beign able toe give others lives, also dont bother with the weekly store idea it's kidna dumb and forces a sense of urgency into something that is meant to be enjoyable and casual that isnt needed in a game like gw2.

Kind of going to answer questions 1 and 3 in one. My favorite level is the first one, for it's succinct length that encapsulates throwbacks to retro gaming. I think it would be great to incorporate new ideas to levels for the next worlds that harken back to specific games, perhaps making a fast paced speed based level like a certain unnamed blue blur, a level based around an ammoed weapon that is used to kill a new set of enemies, or a racing level against NPC's even.

I don't know of any items I've wanted on the vendor, but I think it would be good to introduce a sort of sink for the "real world" currencies to be used to enhance gameplay in the SAB. Namely things that tend to annoyingly accumulate without real sinks for them - such as Eitrite Ingots, Grothmar Peppers, Globs of Dark Matter, Ascended Shards of Glory, Spirit Shards, and especially, especially Obsidian Shards.

It would be very nice to have a meta achievement on release of W3 and W4 for a mount skin, or selection of a mount skin from a set of the available mounts. That gives incentive for players to want to work for a new mount skin each future release of SAB, collecting the whole set. Maybe allow a one time reward track as well for WvW and PvP to help collect two additional mounts, but then the rest of the set has to be gathered in future SAB festivals. The recent WvW mount skin was an amazing example also.

  • Hello! Thats wonderful news, im glad to hear that you came back to my favorite game mode! ^^

If any Anet employee reads this, i believe SAB could be a good marketing opportunity for both SAB and Guild Wars 2 itself. With that being said:

What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

W2Z3 by far. The thing i love about this level is the feel of being deep into the unknown, in this case going far into the snowy mountains. You start the level and look up at a gigantic mountain thinking to yourself that you are going to climb that monster and find out whats on top of it.

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

I personally hate weekly/daily stuff. Whenever i miss out on it because I don't play some days i feel bad and it demotivates me to keep playing.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

Can't think of anything but a new world

So im pretty disapointed, regardless what will show up as alternative, will have to wait more years to get what I want (colors/new world)

Thanks for all the info you gave us. It's nice and comforting to hear that SAB is not completely abandoned!
    As for your questions

-> I enjoy SAB because it's simple and very relaxing. Thus, I enjoyed all levels from W1 and I hated the W2 levels (especially zone 2). They were way too long and -unnecessary- complicated tbh.

-> Since the demand of legendary items will skyrocket when the new Build Template System goes live, I would like to see more Legendary crafting materials to the vendor. Also, old outfits/skins, gliders or capes would be awesome addition.

-> ...I can't think of something rather than a new level. Maybe a SAB guild Hall? Upgradable SAB weapons (both for regular game and SAB mode)? Strike mission inside SAB?

  • Cheers for the info, nice to see/ read. SAB always been fun

As for a bonusmission (or standalone) : I'd opt for a beetle-racetrack, think of a certain Hedgehog collecting baubles

Im very happy about the SAB coming back^^ Its my (guilds) favorite event. Most enjoyable , and what i would wish for the next SABs, are more challenges.
Hardest of hardmode, maybe something that takes up multiple hours and many nerves.

From all things in gw2 is the hardmode of SAB (mostly world 2) so far the most challenging, but also the most satisfying after finishing it :bleep_bloop:

  • I love all of W2, in normal and in tribulation. especially Z2. They are very large, have so many hidden things to explore and multiple paths. And of course I love exploring for skips in tribulation mode.

  • Setz.9675Setz.9675 Member ✭✭✭

W1Z3, good options to either go top level to end or bottom level to end.
W2Z1, nice adventure feel. Rivers, trees, the enemys not being obnoxious.

What I'd like to see from the weekly vendor is what we currently have + option to buy mystic clovers, guild hall's basic / grandmaster finishing kits and everything in between and a weekly/monthly tab with increasing cost of baubles to buy crimson assassin tokens to dump the excess of baubles on (similar to winter holiday gift for karma).

A bomberman kind of PvP minigame maybe.

(What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?)

W2Z1 is a really solid level. The music is cool, the rapids ride was totally different to anything else done in the box, and the hidden passages and caves were a great touch.

(Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?)

    Mystic Clovers, Motos infusions.

(What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future?)

Other than W3 and W4 plus Boss level, more secrets in the box, time trial runs, gambit runs.

I’ll also take this opportunity to say if nothing is changing this year (ie no new worlds and it’s ready to ship), ship it on the 31st. Most of the western world is in isolation looking for something to do right now.

    Better get a wriggle on.

  • I really like W1Z2. The trees add a really nice vertical element and if you fall you don't immediately loose health, you just have to find your way back up. The enemies have clearly telegraphed attacks. I don't really like the disappearing leaves in W1Z3 since they make carefully exploring the map difficult. Also I don't like the owls in W2 because there is no way to shut them off. They just make it impossible to stand in an area and look around.

I don't have any particularly strong feelings about the weekly vendor. It always felt like a work-around for players having amassed too much currency, so you try creative measures to prevent them from flooding the market with the new goods.

For future levels I would really like it if you could consider adding mounts into the SAB. Kinda like Mario has Yoshi from time to time. And in tribulation mode the poor mount gets sacrificed so you can make that jump and reach the cliff.

No skin should be exclusive to gem-store rng boxes.
What really happened with mount skins

Hey everyone, it's that time of year when spring is in the air and our minds turn to the timeless seasonal pursuit of collecting baubles. There are some timing changes to the Super Adventure Festival this year that we don't want to take you by surprise, so let's get to it.

The Super Adventure Festival will activate in mid-April this year, instead of overlapping with April 1st. The Super Adventure Box originally started as an April Fools' Day joke, but it's expanded into a real festival over time. Since we usually do a little something for April Fools' Day anyway, having that minor holiday overlapping Super Adventure Festival caused a yearly headache to ship both events simultaneously or temporarily turned off. This year we're going to give the Super Adventure Festival some space from the 1st to let it and April Fools' stand independently.

This doesn't mean a new World is happening this year. There will be new secrets to find in the Box, a new meta achievement reward and a new set of weapons to collect – a different twist on the original set rather than the usual new color – but the doors to Worlds 3 and 4 will remain shut. However, we haven't given up on a larger addition to the Super Adventure Box, and even if it isn't this year or the next, we'll be chipping away at it behind the scenes. You may even see some new assets in the Box this year from outside the Worlds you know…

Finally, if you have a few minutes I'd like to collect a little feedback about the Super Adventure Festival. Feel free to answer the following questions to help us make the game, and the game within the game, better than ever!

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I'm going to be dead serious here:

    • The game is suffering from a festival overload. Every time there's a festival, the other game modes resent heavily, due to daily achievements and other temporary rewards. I firmly believe they aren't healthy for the game, not anymore.
    • The best way to soften this problem is to integrate the daily activities into the core game modes. Instead of discouraging people from playing raids or PvP altogether, add festive rewards to those game modes, or merge the dailies once again, like in the old times. If the festival is a journey, let people progress outside the festival too. Don't force people to go to the festive area to reap festival rewards, specially the daily achievements. Festivals should promote people to log in and play the game, not just the festive content.
    • We have 6 festivals right now. If I had to remove any, Super Adventure Festival and Festival of the Four Winds are the best candidates, because they can be turned into permanent content easily (or other seasonal models, like special week every month, weekend event, etc). That leaves us with 4 festivals, easily adaptable to one per quarter.
    • The two areas of Festival of the Four Winds can be restored as permanent zones if you ever decide to restore Living World Season 1 as faithfully as it originally happened. Here's an adaptation idea I wrote a few years ago.. The Queen's Gauntlet would be a great place for single player content too.
    • Even if they would be no longer festivals, you can still include them in special weekend events, where rewards are boosted, new bosses/worlds are introduced, or whatever.

As for Super Adventure Box, I think you should start treating it as its own separate DLC, much like Living World seasons, even going as far as to sell it separately. Maybe make SAB free during March-April, but require payment to play it the rest of the year. Or maybe make it free during a weekend every month. Whatever route you take, I don't think SAB should be a festival anymore.

Now, some more specific SAB feedback:

    • I think SAB needs an intermediate level difficulty between normal and tribulation. Normal got heavily nerfed a while ago, specially W2 since it was too long and some people whined about it. Restore those changes and turn them into their own difficulty mode. The end result would be Baby, Normal, Hard, and Tribulation.
    • Right now, you can only get the green and yellow weapons through tribulation. If you introduce a hard mode, you could let players get those weapons too, at 1/3 the progress speed (tribulation mode requires 1 world completion for a single weapon, make it so hard mode requires 3 world completions for a single weapon).
    • I like the new hub, but I think it's wasting a lot of potential. You could make it even bigger, and make it reflect the ingame world. The new hub would be like a small version of the whole world, with small areas depicting each ingame zone, and include many of the functionalities you have inside those zones. The idea here is to give players their own open world SAB playground, and open those zone-based areas as they complete the zones of each world. Maybe even add a small PvP arena using SAB skills. Look at the Heart of the Mists, the Mistlock Sanctuary, and Armstice Bastion for inspiration.
    • Change difficulty and level selection to an UI menu, instead of having to talk to NPCs in the house every time you start a world.

That's all, thanks for the communication! =D

  • I want a new World, only spend time on that!

  • Favorite level tribulation W1Z1 because it feels the fairest out of all the tribulation zones while still being hard enough.

I didn't really use the weekly vendor and dont really like the idea of it as I'd rather get festival stuff when spending time in the festival. If I want mystic coins or something I'll do something else unless it becomes way more efficient to do it through SAB which would be bad in its own way.

Feature request, please add baubles to the wallet or collection. The space it takes just feels unnecessary and annoying atm. Especially when you have some leftover in your bank through the rest of the year.
Also adding the infinite coin as a possible reward would seem fun to me although people who bought it through the gem store would probably hate that change. Just figure as something you can buy for a ridiculously high number like 1000 bauble bubbles.
Would also like the races to be in tribulation mode as well with its own leaderboard, fun and very challenging content to compete with the guildies.
Besides that another world is definitely the most exciting thing I can see coming in the future.

Let's talk the other end of the spectrum. The single part of the entire SAB that I hate is the part in w2z2 with the trampolines. It's entirely ping-dependant and is CRIPPLING to those of us with high ping. I barely manage to scrape through that part in trib with an average of ~340 ping. PLEASE don't make anything like this again, I am begging you.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Considering there's a bauble node available for home instances, and thus a way to gather baubles year-round (albeit limited), I would like to see the weekly vendor for every festival be available all year round.

    For items, how about;
    Black Lion Key
    Guaranteed Wardrobe Unlock
Crimson Assassin Tokens (as it is now, this weapon set will take a literal 5 years to complete assuming the festival lasts for 3 weeks)
    Mystic Clover/s

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I'd love to see new worlds with new weapon sets like the storm wizard/king frog which requires tribulation mode. Basically I need a reason to farm trib mode. It's something I love doing, but after getting all the skins and other unlocks available, there's no incentive to keep doing it. Maybe introducing a fourth "craftable" set of weapons that require tribulation tokens from 1/2/3, as well as a weapon template that Moto provides. Just spitballing.

    Disagreement =/= "negativity"
    Criticism =/= "hate"

  • We need worlds 3 & 4.

We need the other 2 SAB harvesting tools for a full set!

I liked 2-1. Not too long and a good balance of platforming and fighting with decent challenge enemies.

Don't really care about the weekly vendor..

  • Urud.4925Urud.4925 Member ✭✭✭✭

I like SAB but I don't care particularly for additional worlds or even more weapon skins to farm (on the contrary).
I'm happy that you decided to postpone it a bit this year (we still have recent content to play/farm... sadly).
Just one beg, in case you will start to work for additional stages: don't use too dark colors, like in W2Z3. We can always change the gamma settings in Windows, so it's not even more difficult, just annoying to revert them when we finish to play.

First what i would like to see is that the upgrades are accountbound and not character because my main changed over the last 7 years so that would be great! And could you make the furniture coins sellable so there is no more lfg selling stuff annoyance.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

W1 Z1+2 they are short and funny the z3 is borderline for me and to dark. and w2Z2+3 is way to long and that's what i really hate. for me superbox is a short distraction of the real game so the levels should't take 5 hours to do them all(NM+TM).

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

In general i would like to buy way more than possible. if you play actively you can buy all and still have to waist inventory space to keep the bauble baubles, also would make a great currency the bauble baubles ;).

    • Chak egg sac/ Chak Infusion for like 1000 bauble baubles (one can dream :D)
    • Normal Black lion Keys
    • Golden Black lion Keys
    • Black Lion Weapon Ticket
    • Wardrobe Unlock
    • Weapon unlock
    • Armor unlock
    • Supreme runes of holding
    • Recovered Black Lion Goods

      • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

Baubles collect time trial or speedrun the worlds. with a daily and monthly(weekly) leaderboard with rewards like in gw1 for the challenger missions. this could be added to all the challenges and races in the hole gw2 universe.

Thank you for this rather precise answer. Can we get the same info about other projects? Just a simple yes or no for 2020. For example Alliances.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

W2Z2. My first video-game ever was Super Mario Land on GB (the black and green one). World 4 kept me busy for a long time, due to the intense difficulty spike and the stage-design. When I first set foot into W2 I just got the flashbacks. W2Z2 is quite complex and utilizes a lot of the old Jump & Run features I grew up with.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?
    • Supreme Runes of Holding
    • Draconic Amalgamated Gemstone (I guess there will be more content requiring those items)
    • Heroic Boosters
    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

As the SAB already covers a lot of old memories, I would like to see something like the Turbo Tunnel as some sort of a bonus stage.

In addition, credo quod ArcDPS interdictum debere.
  • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

All of World 1's zones are just great, both in Tribulation and normal mode. World 2 in comparison feels too long and cumbersome.

  • First off, I have to tell you that I really love all the changes that are happening lately, I play the game for almost 6 years now and I never saw you do so unbelievably many things for the players. About a year ago, like many others, I had to take a break from the game because it felt like nothing happens at all, but now I can enjoy it again and I can't express how happy I am when I see your transparency while talking about content like SAB or 2v2 PvP. I hope everyone will notice this effort and more people who quit return to the game.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

All of them are great except for the raft-part in W2Z1 since it kind of forces you to wait.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

Unlike others I think the weekly vendor is a good idea because you have the urge to at least log in once every week. The only thing I would add is mystic clovers, as this would be another way of bypassing having to buy mystic coins from TP Barons and would support the people who build legendaries after the legendary armory update.

    • What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

I would really appreciate a way to get crimson assassin weapons without having a timegate. I really dislike the thought of having to do daily achievements for years or else you have to wait a year or even several years more than others who can play daily, just because you were ill or on holiday. My suggestion is that you could implement a (tradeable) Crimson Assassin Weapon Box (random loot at the end of a level) as there are already boxes for the normal super weapons and the kaiser snake weapons. This way, people who cannot afford to play often or can't stand waiting won't be at disadvantage. Also it would be even more worth to complete every zone each day for the people who can play everyday as they have more chances to get skins which they could sell for money so everyone would profit from that. Another reason is that people who start playing now or experience SAB for the first time won't be able to complete the collection until 2025 I believe, which would be kind of sad in my opinion.
Thank you very much for reading my thoughts and keep up the good work!

Favorite level: 1-2. To me, it is the level that is most like the platformers of old. It has a good balance of exploration and secret areas, and isn't oppressive with its environmental hazards. It is about the right size and length for one level.

For SAB minigames I'd like to see something with a fixed camera angle to simulate an arcade style game. Something like Gauntlet Legends.

If I can make one unsolicited suggestion for future expansion of SAB, it would be to start by refactoring W2 and chopping up the levels which are way too big and take too much time to get through. There is an inherent recognition of this fact too, given that each of those levels has a big skip built into it. I would suggest that you remove the skips, and space out the level breaks accordingly. W2Z3 for example could easily have been two complete zones.

What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

I would say it would have to be W1Z1. Sunny Glade will always hold a special place in my heart; the combination of the music, the bright visuals, and the way the level was designed (it's extremely fast if you're just running straight to the end, but there's plenty of side-areas to explore and secrets to uncover if you prefer that) all combined to create the perfect introduction to SAB.

I know that there are people who feel otherwise, but I think that the big mistake World 2 made (and the mistake that wound up driving a lot of people away from SAB) was that it tried to go "bigger, longer, harder!", and wound up losing sight of that key design principle. The levels should be fast to complete if you're just sticking to the essentials, but have a lot of room for exploration. Instead, all of the W2 levels feel unnecessarily long. W2Z1 could really have been split into two levels; the Rapids up to the Ninja Bridge, and then the rest of the level. Likewise, the other levels feel like they drag on for far too long. There really wasn't a need to put TWO octopus puzzles into the Pain Cliffs, and the trampoline pillars, while an interesting concept, are also VERY painful for anybody who's playing on high ping (and by that, I mean anybody with 200+ ping). That's the #1 reason why I always take the shortcuts for World 2, and why I never touched Trib Mode again after I finished the achieves; it's just not FUN to have to try and account for lag when so many of the jumps in TM (and W2Z2 and W2Z3, to a lesser extent) require pinpoint accuracy and non-stop movement.

For any future Worlds 3 and 4, I hope that the design adheres more closely to how World 1 worked. The levels should be shorter, but broader. Part of the great appeal of SAB during the first year was that it was content that you could just jump into with random strangers, and be done within 30 mins, as sort of a fun side-activity in between other in-game events. If there were players who weren't so good with jumps or mechanics, all you needed was one player to get to the next checkpoint, or to open up shortcuts. There's already plenty to do in Guild Wars; we really don't need yet another activity that takes up a good 1 or 2 hours per day. There's a reason why the short, repeatable strikes are more popular than raids, or even the longer (yet easier!) Forging Steel strike.

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

I think that in addition to Mystic Coins and Legendary Shard chests, Amalgamated Gemstones, Mystic Clovers or Magic-Warped Bundles (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Magic-Warped_Bundle) could be added to the list.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

More weapon upgrades are always welcome! :) Also, somebody else mentioned adding the Baubles to the Currency Wallet; that would definitely be a big QoL improvement, although I understand it may cause issues with the way baubles are kept track of inside SAB itself. The idea of a SAB Arena where you face off against ever-increasingly difficult foes (either solo or as a party) is quite intriguing, and I think it deserves consideration.

I'd also like to see the SAB "elite skills" be made more powerful/useful. As it is now, they're almost not even worth using considering that spamming your regular attack does similar damage in roughly the same amount of time. Perhaps Moto's Breath/Finger could be used to insta-kill any non-boss foe (even Tribulation Clouds, making acquiring the elite skills a very valuable tool for Trib Mode.

  • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

1-2. There's more to explore if you'd like, and shortcut worm if you don't feel like it today. Trib wasn't too insane or long, and I enjoyed finding all the baubles there (and ditto for all of W1).
Least favourite: 2-3. It's too long without the shortcuts (ditto 2-2), and trib is near impossible without abusing invulnerability frames.

Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

    • I loved the tyrian exchange vouchers, and buying them at the festival last year was the reason I was recently able to make Twilight!
    • I'd love a way to accelerate gift of battles for (the non WvW centric) legendaries for those of us not WvW inclined, but no idea how that would work.
    • Amalgamated Gemstones and Draconic Amalgamated Gemstone would be great too.

What sort of new Super Adventure Festival content would you like to see in the future? It's fine to respond "I want a new World, only spend time on that!" but are there other kinds of gameplay or minigames you'd enjoy in the meantime?

    • I'd love a checkpoint mechanics for the larger worlds where you can come back the following day. It took me 2 days of trying to do 2-3 Trib, the second day being incredibly frustrating having to redo the first day's progress.
    • It would also be good to have some way of seeing where your party members are more readily - in normal mode I almost always go in with guildies, some of which I'll need to guide in.
    • A "race" mode or leaderboard for groups would be good, just a count of who makes it to the checkpoint first etc. I currently do this manually for guild events and would be super helpful to have it calculated properly!

I was thinking about something like a Strike mission or the Dragon bash arena but in SAB stile where you start with a stick and after every boss you get to chose some ability or item or a buff out of 3, so you make a build that is more supportive or more damage dealing or can crowd control better, and that build helps your team to reach to higher tiers of the SAB arena. Something like the Dungeon run in Hearthstone.

    • What's your favorite level in Super Adventure Box? Is there anything in particular that sets it above the rest it for you?

    W1Z1 Definitely.
This is the one part of SAB that really feels like a retro style RPG/adventure game tbh and despite it's easy difficulty it's the one level most of all I enjoy coming back to.
The W2 stuff while still fun does tend to feel more like it's pushing for challenge over anything else, that's not a bad thing but it does diminish the fun element of replayability for me so I usually only replay W1 and rarely W2.

    • Last year, Super Adventure Festival was the first festival to introduce a Weekly Vendor. What new items would you like to see on the Weekly Vendor?

No idea, tbh I don't feel like a weekly vendor is all that worth it for festivals.

    1) This ones easy, New world!!! lol
I'm only semi joking there, Im more new to SAB than most long time players as I really didn't get into SAB for a good few years but now that I have I am picking up on the same festival problem that has persisted in Gw2 for a long time.
It seems to take a long time for Anet to really splash in new festival content and this has a bad habit of making festivals feel repetitive and stagnant.
For years Halloween and Winteresday mostly suffered from this with many calling for something new or some big changes so it's not just a cut and paste copy of the previous year.. and eventually we did get some new things like mount races and the return of reapers rumble etc (We're still waiting on the continuation and replayability of the Halloween story though)
With SAB specifically.. we have not seen a new world in 7 years and the holiday has been annual for 4.. that is a stupidly long time to not have any continuation to this content and I really wish festivals would get more love and attention than just new rewards every year.. specially now that there are so many of them.
It's very easy to get festival fatigue in Gw2 because of how many there are now and how little they change each year.

    2) This one is more a QOL change that has been requested for years.. Baubles and Coins in the Wallet.
I don't know if there are reasons why this was never done but surely there must be a way to make it happen, I don't have many myself but I collect them year round thanks to the home instance node so they do take up bank space.. as someone who has maxed out the bank tab cap and is desperate for more bank storage space I don't like wasting slots on SAB currencies.

    3) This last one directly relates to what new SAB content I would like to see.
Well im a sucker for old games, I still own a lot of retro consoles and games that i've had from my childhood.
With the addition of certain new mechanics and events being added as recently as Icebrood Saga, I think there is some room there for some pretty fun new SAB content.

First thing that comes to mind is a minigame that mimics an on rails shooter, We've already seen something similar to this in Grothmar Valley.
Put us on a moving platform (like the raft in W2) and challenge us to hit as many targets as possible.

Lastly I think the idea of a 2D side scroller would be pretty fun to have in SAB too, specially if it would push along like some Mario levels and you had to keep up or get smash bros style off screen killed ^^
This again would probably take a lot of work to do so I don't expect it will ever come around but it would still be pretty fun if Anet could find a way to replicate a 2D environment in Gw2..

Only other thing I'd like to see would be a hookshoot style weapon we could use to pull enemies to us or pull ourselves to certain locations.
It could mimic the Oakheart's Reach skill which frankly is one of the most fun mastery abilities in Gw2 and severely underused imo.

Guess that's all I can think of atm, can't wait for SAB this year ^^
